Water Parks: Water shoes and t-shirts?

Although we've been going to WDW for many years now, this year will be our first time visiting the water parks! We'd originally planned on going to BB, but now my DS has decided on TL and maybe BB if we feel up to it on our last day.

My question is: Has anyone gone to the water parks without wearing water shoes? If so, did you leave your regular shoes in a locker and walk around barefoot, or wear flip-flops (like Teva Mush sandals) on the rides? I'm not sure what's allowed, but I heard the pavement gets VERY hot. I'm afraid to buy new water shoes for the whole family and have to break them in on our one day at the water park. I know you can wear them elsewhere, but I doubt that we would.

Also, I know that you're not allowed to wear swimsuits with "buckles, rivets or exposed hardware" on the slides, but what about wearing active shorts or a t-shirt over your swimsuit? I'm having a hard time picturing walking all around the water park in just my swimsuit without a cover-up or shirt on, but then where would you leave it when you went on the slides? You can't run to the locker between each slide! Does anyone just leave their towels and cover-ups near the entrance to the slide?

So many questions...Hope someone has the answers! TIA!

I don't think they allow you to wear flip flops on the rides - that might also include teva shoes (someone else might know). I would go for the water shoes. You can walk and wear them on the rides. You cannot walk barefoot.

You can walk barefoot, you can wear a t-shirt. You have to remember that you are at Disney, no one knows you, can can be comfortable walking around. Most people find a chair and that is where they leave there stuff, don't take your towel on the ride, you can't leave it there.

The nice thing about the water parks is that once you pick a spot for your stuff, i.e. towels, snacks, shoes, sunscreen, no one bothers it. I went barefoot most of the time and I was fine. When the pathways got hot, I wore my flip flops, and took them off and held them on the slides, or left them at the bottom of the line up area. I don't really like the feeling of water shoes, but the one place I might wear them would be in the wave pool.

I will never take a trip to the World again without hitting TL. Loved it!!

I left all of our stuff on a lounge chair last June. No one touched it. Well... someone might have touched it, but it was all still there every time I needed something.
I bought water shoes for me and my son. My son ditched his right away and said his feet were fine. He didn't dance around on the pavement or sand like it was hot, so I didn't pressure him to put them back on. I never took mine off.
I took a cover up thinking there was no way I was trotting around all day in a swimsuit. The cover up made it to the chair with all of our other stuff.
Maybe it's just me, but when I'm at Disney World, all I can think about when I stop and look at other people is, "Are you having as much fun as I am????" :goodvibes

We went to Typhoon Lagoon. We rented a locker only to put our keys and money in it. We kept our clothes, towels, shoes, etc. on our chairs. No one took anything. I would never leave anything of value without being supervised just in case. I would say that it is pretty safe to leave your clothes and shoes without being touched, unless someone moved it to steal your chair.
We all wore water shoes and my girls wore life vests. I walked around the park with just my bathing suit, although i did wear a beach skirt when we arrived.

I went barefoot and no shirt. At 300+ pounds, I felt surprisingly comfortable.

So t-shirts are allowed on the slides?

I don't wear it for vanity reasons - I like to keep my (and my family's) shoulders covered from the sun - I always wear a t-shirt over my suit where ever I am. I got a REALLY bad sunburn a few years ago and don't want to repeat it - since wearing a shirt, I've had no problems. I hope it won't be a problem at TL.

I've worn t-shirts on slides at BB. No one has ever told me not to.

Yes T-Shirts are allowed on all the rides and shoes/sandels/flip-flops are allowed on any ride that is not a body slide. So if it has an inner tube or a matt you can wear what you want as long as there are no buckles or rivets. If it is a body slide you can't wear anything on your feet, wet suit material, locker keys on your legs, glasses, or hats.

Hope that helps

i wore my flip flop and when I went on a ride I left them on the side, I also wore a 1 piece and water short over them, I feel naked without shorts on. and it cover my theighs..as for the money an room key I bought one of those little plastic things you put around your neck it hold money an any flat items.

I really, really apologize for not making myself clear - the only reason why I said you cannot walk barefoot is that the ground/paths are very, very hot. If you or anyone wants/wishes to walk barefoot -- please do so. (We normally go during the summer months - and we have found we cannot walk barefoot).
