We just booked our next trip for the end of June. DH will be attending a conference while we are there and we have old water park tickets that we are planning to use this trip, just me and the kids. They will be 5 & 9 at the time of the trip. Will we have a good time or will I be stressed? Has anyone done the water parks with kids without a 2nd adult?

Probably depends on what they want/like to do and their ability in the water.

I took my four year old last year, but I feel comfortable with her in/around the water. She enjoyed the wave pool and lazy river and I didn't need to hold her, but she was also fine doing rides.

I think if they are the kind of kids who don't swim all that well, want to do noting but hang out in the wave pool and don't like any of the rides, it could be stressful. BUT, if they are open to trying the rides it should be okay.

They like water slides but aren't the strongest swimmers, especially the little one, she can't swim independently yet. Guess who will be in swim lessons this spring?

Put the little one in a life jacket & go have fun!!

I would recommend BB over TL for the 3 of you.

I have not gone by myself with my kids (10,5,2), but in my family, it would really depend on if your oldest is willing to possibly give up on some of the more fun stuff because the youngest can't or is unwilling to do the bigger/better things. My oldest would stay at BB all day long, but the rest of us prefer TL (better wave pool in our opinion...thrashes too hard for my petite 10 year old daughter.) I agree with the PP who said just put a life jacket on the youngest and have fun. Bribe the older one with Mickey Bars if the trip starts to turn sour.

I have done it with my well above averaged sized 9 year old son and my teeny weeny 7 year old daughter. The biggest problem was finding each other after being separated. Since there was a lot that they could not do together, including being at the same depth in the wave pool, we ended up splitting up. I spent most of my day hunting down one or the other or both. After I collected them for the second time from the lost kid area, I told them to stop going there when they got lost. We picked a new meeting spot and they were only to go there if they were hurt or hopelessly lost.

It was hard but doable but then again, I am the type of mom who never worries about anything. If you have anxiety about losing a child or two, don't let the kids outnumber the adults. You have got to play man to man, a zone defense will never work.

I took my kids there and totally agree about how hard it is to find each other when you split up. If we were staying together the rule was to wait EVERY time at the bottom. It was by far the hardest park to split up at.
