Water Parks In The Summer Question

Is it true that the water parks clear out it the afternoon? We have park hoppers with water, so we can go in and out as we please...We have a plan to go for an 8:00 open on an extra hours day and then thinking one afternoon...Can we expect large crowds after lunch on a weekday in July or will it still be busy?

BTW, our kids are small so we do not need hours and hours and we will not be going on some of the most popular attractions...Just ones for families and small children...

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Hi neighbor,

One reason water parks are not crowded on summer afternoons is because they will often close due to thunderstorms!

Afternoon thunderstorms are the rule, not the exception, in July. So if you wait for the afternoon to go to a water park in the summer you may be out of luck.

We do tend to have a lot of people starting to leave about noon and it becomnes a fairly steady stream going out by 1:00. This is one reason we have a specially priced Florida Resident Water Parks After 2:00 Annual Pass.

And yes, in the summer there is always a strong chance of rain during the afternoons, but we only close if there is electrical storm activity within five miles of the park and possibly approaching; we will remain closed until the storms are at least five miles away and receding. (Do you have any idea of how much paperwork is involved if a Guest gets struck by lightning?)

But they don't close for good do they?

We were there the Monday before TS Fay and the storms did come in but we didn't have to leave. We just tried to take cover. Gave up and just took a nap in the rain.

So in effect during this "closed" time I guess you don't let anyone in but as soon as the all clear is given people are let back in right?:confused3

As Cheshire Figment said in the earlier post, the water parks will remain closed until the thunderstorm is five miles away and receding.

But if a strong thunderstorm sits over the Lake Buena Vista area or if a series of storms along a front comes through the area, then yes, the parks could remain closed for the rest of the day.

the storms in general move off pretty quick, if ya grab lunch and get out of the rain... you'll have the water park to yourself when they reopen
