Water Parks do we need the Hopper Too?

We plan on going to Disney World for 4 days, and plan to do a trip to either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon one morning. If we plan to go to Hollywood Studios the evening we do the water park, do we need the Park Hopper as well? Otherwise we'll just stick to the base, cause we only plan on doing one park a day. Thanks!

If you are only planning to have one water park or Disney Quest day you are much better off purchasing separate tickets.

If you add the Water Parks Fun and More option to your MYW ticket it will cost $58.58 (including tax) per person, adult or child. It will add one WPF&M entry per day on the base or hopper ticket (but two entries on a one day ticket).

If you purchase one day water park tickets they cost $52.19 adult and $43.67 child. (Disney Quest are $45.80/$39.41) If you are an Annual Passholder or DVC Member you can purchase one day water park tickets at an approximate 10% discount.

This upgrade may be done at any Park (including water parks or TTC) ticket booth or Guest Relations Office. If it is on your room key it can also be done at the Resort Lobby Concierge.

(Note each person must have their own ticket. Even though it adds multiple entries to your ticket, you can only use one ticket for one person.)

Also, if you are planning to do three or more water park visits within a year there is a definite price advantage to purchase Water Park Annual Passes.

We have two unusual policies at the water parks concerning ticketing. Both involve use of a one day water park ticket.

One is we will allow full value of the used WP ticket to upgrade to a WP AP as long as it is within 14 days of use.

The other, which is the only time combining tickets is allowed, is we will merge a used WP one day ticket with a MYW ticket to add the WPF&M option and only charge the difference in price.

You only need to add the hopper option if you're going to visit two (or more) of the four "major" parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, or Hollywood Studios) in the same day.

No need to add a hopper if you're going to go to a major park (like HS) and a water park the same day. Water parks are considered "minor" parks, and are not included in the hopper feature.

Cheshire Figment has some great advice above regarding whether to add the "water parks and more" option to your ticket, or simply buy a one-day water park pass. If you're not planning more than one water park and/or Disney Quest visit during your stay, it's cheaper to buy a one-day water park or DQ pass.

I was just wondering one thing. I did some research on the WPF&M option, and I am a little confused on one thing. Well, maybe two things. First off, if I decide to buy just a one day WPF&M ticket, and it has two entries on it, do they both have to be used on the same day? Or can I do this...let's say I am staying at WDW for 12 days, but I am only buying 10 days of MYW tickets. I can either A.) add a one day WPF&M pass that has two entries or B.) I can buy the one that will basically mirror how many days I have making it 10 days. Now, say I only do option A, do I have to use both entries on the same day? Or can I go to MK, AK, EP, and HS for say 7 days, TL on the 8th day (which will use one entry), Go back to the major parks for days 9-11, and on day 12 use my second entry from my WPF&M at BB? Or would I have to use them both on the same day say for one water park and in the evening use the other entry for Disneyquest?

I have forgotten my second question now as I have completely confused myself. It's probably better for me to pay the couple bucks more and have an entry per day of my 10 day tickets. I could use them on any days I want of my 12 day stay though, right? I think that's what I figured out while researching.

Or maybe I should just move to Florida and stay at Disney forever. It would be much less confusing for me I think.

You cannot add just 2 entries to a multi-day ticket.

If you have a 10 day ticket, your only options are:
  • to add the WP&M option, which will give you 10 entres to the waterparks and disney quest.
  • buy a single waterpark entry, which will cost a few dollars less than just adding the WP&M option.

If you add the WP&M option to a one day ticket, it will give you two entries.

I think that's what I was trying to say, but not as straightforward as you! What I really need clarified is whether the one day ticket with the two entries has to be used all on one day or not. Do u understand what I mean? If I bought just a one day pass, and it has two enties on it, do I have to use them both on one day or can I use one entry one day, and the other on another day? I am guessing they both have to be used on one day. I will probably just get the 10 day pass.

This post includes the assumption you have a ten day MYW ticket with both the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More (WPF&M) options.

Hopefully this will make it a little clearer. In effect you have two tickets with different privileges on one card. Everything expires 14 days after first use unless you have the no-expire (NE) option. If you have the NE option all the entitlements are good until they are used up. Even if you use up all your major park days, the WPF&M entries remain valid until used. (Note you do not have to use the days consecutively.)

You have ten days of access to the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK), and may visit more than one major park on a single day without any extra charges. Without the Park Hopper option you can only go to one major park per day.

You have ten entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail* in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the ten entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)

If you go to minor parks only on one day and do not go to a major park you do not use up one of your major park days.

If you were to go to a Water Park in the morning and then one of the major parks for the remainder of the day you would have used one minor park entry and one day of major park entry.

Note that with the MYW ticket unless you have the hopper option you can only go to one major park per day. Unless you have the WPF&M option you cannot go to a minor park without upgrading or purchasing a separate ticket.

*Oak Trail is a nine-hole "Executive" walking (no carts) golf course. Each person must have their own set of clubs and they can be rented for $15 per person if they don't bring their own.

There is not a one day waterpark ticket with two entries.

You can either buy a one time admission or you can add the WP&M option to your 10 day ticket (which will give you 10 entries.)

The only time you get 2 entries on a one day ticket is when you add the WP&M option to a one day park ticket, but this doesn't apply to you since you have a 10 day ticket.

Ok, I understand. Some of the stuff I read about the tickets was a little misleading. I just wanted to wrap my head around it b/c it is the first time I have considered the WPF&M option. I am not even sure we will do it, I just really wanted to understand it, so thanx for the help.

The WPM entries do NOT conflict with the main MYW entries. A partial day at HS and a partial day at a water park would be fine. Heck, you COULD go to HS, spend the afternoon at TL, then back to HS at night for Fantasmic, no problem. You could do the morning at TL, afternoon at BB, and night at HS, too. Still not a problem.

I definitely think the WPM option is a great value if you even think you might do BB, TL or DQ more than once - it's only 6 dollars more for the option than for a single ticket. On our last trip (12 days) we did water parks twice. We still had 8 admissions left on each of our tix but we still saved money by doing WPM.
