Water park with a 2 year old?

My husband and I and our 2.5 year will be in Disney for 9 days in the beginning of October. I need to buy our park tickets and I'm not sure if I should add on the water park option.

I know it will be hot in early October - but is there anything for a 2 year old to do at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

I wouldn't bother unless she is very, very comfortable in the water and will be able to go on the slides. For most 2 -year-olds, the resort pool will be enough.

At around $50, the Water Parks and More option is a bargain if you're buying MYW tickets that are more than 4 or 5 days. Remember the option includes Disney Quest, which has lots for kids, even that young. Plus both water parks have special areas for toddlers.

If you buy 7-day MYW tickets, you get 7 waterpark/DQ visits; if you buy 9-day tickets, you get 9 visits, etc. Same flat fee for the option either way!

Bring the baby in the lazy river!!!!! Jus watch out for the waterfall I would have had so much fun as a kiddo in that thing.

Just bring plenty of sunscreen as you don't want a mini lobster

We started going to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon when DS was 1. They both have great little kids areas. We preffered the Blizzard Beach area while our friends preferred Typhoon Lagoon. You can always buy your tickets and then add the water park option when you get there if you decide to use it.

We didn't do the water parks with our kids until they were much older. The resort pool was better for them (and us).

We took our oldest son to TL for half a day when he was 22 months and he had A BLAST but we were pretty worn out afterwards and didn't get to do much since one of us always had him so we didn't have anyone to wait in line with for big slides. The lifeguard at the kiddie slide was just amazed how much he loved the water slide and kept asking to ride. One of my favorite pictures from that vacation is him going down that slide. We took him
"Home" to grandma at lunch and we played then.

Depending on where you are staying the pools can offer a similar experience for free. My 3 year old son had a blast at the Art of Animation Nemo pool.

I personally wouldn't (and haven't in the past) waste the time or money for a water park at that age.

We've been twice with a two year old and we didn't feel the need to go to the water parks at all, even when we stayed as long as you. I would skip them, unless you're a big fan of water parks.

We went to Blizzard Beach last Sept with our (then) just turned 2 year old and 4 1/2 year old. They LOVED it. BB has a large kiddie/toddler section with a couple of fun/tame slides. The one is a tube slide with a lifeguard at the top and the bottom. They also enjoyed the wave pool (tamer at BB then TL), the family raft ride and the double tube slide. Very few of the slides at the Disney water parks have height limits and you have to use your best judgement as a parent. That being said....when we go back next May we won't be getting water park tickets. We are staying at AKL and I feel that they will be just as happy with the resort pool.

BB is great at that age, but so not necessary. I wouldn't go out of my way to take a kid that age there. They may hate it, mAy get completely overwhelmed, etc. we took our son because the older kids wanted to go

I'm with some of the others, it could be fun, but for a child that age, the resort pool is usually just as much fun, and easier for the parents. No bus ride, changing rooms, staking out a chair in the shade, changing rooms again, bus ride again. Worth it for bigger kids who love the slides and such, but toddlers just like water!

This. If that is your only child I wouldn't bother unless one of you wants to do the big slides and doesn't mind going alone while the other stays in kiddie area. If you want to do any add-on do hopper. When our kids were young it was great to spend half a day a park, break and swim/nap in afternoon, then head over to another park for eats etc. It's great to have EPCOT as a dinner option any night no matter which park you started your day in.
