For those who are there,

would you go to a water park this week?

I would like to go but worry that it will be super cold to be wet in Dec in FL.

Need input to see if I should change our plans for the day.

We just got back and the weather on Saturday was pretty close to what they are calling for this week. In my opinion, it was a little cool for a waterpark. I would be ok at the resort pool where you could either stay in the water or lay out most of the time. But to be in and out of the water for slides and stuff, I would find it too cool. The Monday of Thanksgiving week it was definitely warm enough for a waterpark, but then a cold front came through and it got cold and then warmed up to seasonable. So you just really never know what you will get.

I live here. There is a random day here and there that might be what I would consider warm enough for a water park. Last Monday was really warm and humid, but most days are not. Unless it's in the 80's I'm not going in the water. I get cold easily.

Isn't the forecast high 70's all week?

Plenty warm for swimming!!

80 on wednesday, that's almost too hot!

Is it pool swimming warm or spend monet on a waterpark tix warm?

This year will be our 6th December trip to Orlando in the last 7 years. We have never not gone to Blizzard Beach. We usually try to pick a day the forecast is in the 80's, but there's nothing wrong with high 70's IMO.

Even during the record cold snap of 2010 we found one day where the temps shot up to 80.

70's in Florida, especially when you are wet is just not the same as 70's at home. I don't know how to explain it....but I wouldn't be comfortable at a waterpark all day. I could brave the pool for awhile though. Its just too much in and out of the water for me.

Yes, all the pools and waterparks are heated. Fine when you are in the water, but makes it extra cold when you get out. There is also a lot of shade at the waterparks, which makes it much cooler. There is a huge difference between 70 degrees in the sun and 70 degrees being wet in the shade. Plus its pretty cool in the mornings, so it wouldn't even warm up to the 70's til lunch time. I'd probably just do the resort pool this time of year. We have PAP's so it isn't a huge deal for us to pop into a waterpark for an hour or two, but I wouldn't spend the money for a ticket if I couldn't get the better part of the day.

We keep the water in all the slides and pools around 80F (27C) except for Shark Reef which does not have heaters. What you want is a day that will be bright and sunny and preferably not windy.

If you go on a day that is heavily overcast you will not be able to take advantage of any radiant heating (from the sun) or on a windy day (especially with a dry wind from the North) you will get hit by wind chill.

But a day with the highs in the mid-50s or above which is sunny and calm most people (at least from Northern climates) should be comfortable.

What if you have four free tickets you have to use at Christmas??Son got them working for Disney thinking we might brave it if it is half way sunny.Maybe a couple of hours mid day and back to Embassy Suites for cocktails.Free is hard to turn down.

I'm not sure we will use ours. It will have to be mid 80's and sunny for me to get in the water. It would be nice to be able to use them while the kids are out of school for Christmas break though.
