Water park seating in the shade

We plan to visit both water parks in August, so I'd love to hear any advice on where to find a nice, shady chair at both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. We will be there at rope drop, but renting a cabana isn't in the budget. Thank you!

When my family went to TL in May 2014 we were there at rope drop, entered the parks and headed to the right side of the park because we knew we wanted to ride Crush n Gusher first. We saw a sandy area between CnG and Wave Pool with umbrellas so we snagged an umbrella and chairs. Then two of us went to put stuff in the nearby lockers. It was then we discovered it said "smoking area", :crazy2: but felt it was too late to try to move. We were near the edge so decided to stay, it turned out fine. People hardly smoked all day and those that did sort of stood to the back in the shade. Then we know why everyone else was passing right by that area . Having an umbrella was great and that area is actually convenient to lazy river and food too.

If you get there at rope drop, you're not going to have a problem. There are shady spots all over the place.

My favorite spot at Typhoon Lagoon is on the left side of the wave pool. There are lots of trees here, food nearby, access to the lazy river, wave pool for visual entertainment, and a kids play area. This area is a small lagoon off of the wave pool. Waves from the wave pool make the 2 ft deep water here just bob a little. There are two small slides about the height of a home pool water slide here also. This area is great if you have younger grade school kids as it gives them a fun place to play while you rest up.

Please note that there is a LOT of sand at TL. Make sure your electronics and anything else you don't want to get sandy are in zipper bags.

That's pretty close to where we sit. We have never had an issue getting a shady spot at rope drop.

How old are your kids? That would be my deciding factor on which way to head.
