Water Park or is Bonnet Creek Pools Enough?

We are staying at Bonnet Creek for a week in September. We are trying to decide if we should do a water park for day with DD4 and DD6. We have never done the water parks but we have also never taken a day and just hung out at the pools. What do you Bonnet Creek experts think? Is it worth spending a day at the water parks or does Bonnet Creek have enough fun pools and lazy river that we should just hang there?

It REALLY depends on what you are looking for. Bonnett creek has several pools, including a zero entry pool, kids play areas, and a couple lazy rivers. There are also some nice hottubs for the adults. I think they only have like 1 slide at one of the pools.


Most of the water parks will have wave pools, a lazy river, several different slides (Both tube slides and just you on the slide), as well as any number of other interesting thematic activities that could be based off the parks theme or just to make things more interesting.

I Think the Bonnet Creek thread here may have pictures of the pools in it, So since you know your kids, you may be able to determine if that's enough for you. You can also check the websites for the various parks around the orlando area to see what they have to offer, as well as any height restrictions that could impact your kid's ability to enjoy everything.

The 4 big water parks in the area are going to be the 2 Disney parks (Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach), Aquatica, and Wet & Wild. Typhoon Lagoon in some ways has the advantage in being right around the corner from Bonnet Creek, However keep in mind that it's Wave Pool is also the most "aggressive" and may not be the most enjoyable thing for small children.

At those ages, Bonnet Creek is plenty fun. Save your money for when they get older and can enjoy the more extreme fun of those expensive water parks.

Your kids will have a BLAST at the Bonnet Creek pools.

The waterparks do have kiddie areas, but most of the really good stuff is meant for kids aged 8+ y/o, and is perfect for teens.

Don't misunderstand, the waterparks are a lot of fun. We went to TL and BB last month for the first time. My DS8 took most of the trip to get up the nerve for some of the bigger attractions - and then didn't want to leave. Some swimming ability is a plus for the waterparks.

So I agree with a previous poster. Save the money for your next trip to WDW, and then there will be a new thing for them to experience.

Both my kids are excellent swimmers (even the 4 year old) and they love, love water slides, diving boards, and thrill rides. BUT the little one is TINY for her age and barely 38 inches. She would definitley be stuck in the litte kids area and I don't know that my older one would want to do the big slides without her sister (I'm a bigger wimp than them and won't go on big water slides). DH really wants to check out the water parks but I think you guys might be right about saving something for another trip. They don't know the water parks exist yet and would have a blast at Bonnet Creek pools for a day!

I suggest that you go out to the disneyworld website and look at the attractions at their two water parks before you write them off for this trip. I think that there are two or three 'rides' at each park that require a minimum height of 48" but that would leave several that your four year old would be able to do with her sister.

My 18 year old daughter first visited a Disney water park when she was five and, when time and weather allow, she and I make it a point to go back often.
