We are going to be in WDW in about 3 weeks. It will be myself, DH, and DD 16months. We purchased a land/sea package last year so we will have the old ultimate park hopper pass which includes both water parks. We will be staying at AKL. I was wondering whether or not we should go to the water parks. It looks like the AKL pool is really nice,a nd we wouldn't have to worry about the bus. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It depends. Pools at hotels are near your room, less crowded and a good place to soak up the sun, but water parks are much bigger and have many different experiences. If you want to go on water slides and rubber rings= water parks. If you want a simple swim and a convienient place to relax= hotel pool

The pool at AKL is lovely. And there is a wading pool for your little one. Sometimes it's nice to just stay put.

Are you saying you have ultimate park hoppers from a previous trip that are still valid? Are you sure you had an ultimate park hopper and not a park hopper plus? If you had a package, it is very likely you had a UPH, but I thought that UPHs were only valid during length-of-stay?

Edited to say: Never mind, I think I just figured out what you were saying. You bought your package last year and are taking it this year, so you have new UPHs. Sorry! In that case, I'd go to the water park!

With a 16 month old, I would just do the hotel pool. The AKL pool has a zero entry area, which is great for little ones...it is a beautiful pool, very relaxing. The water parks are great, but they are anything but relaxing!

Unless you or your husband really enjoy water parks, stay at the AKL pool with the little one. It is a very nice pool, with nice amenities (including the poolside bar). Thus, there is not much point to trekking over to the water parks unless you are dying to do one of the things there (big water slide or something).

We go to WDW at least twice a year and haven't done a waterpark in years. We always spend 2-3 days of our trip lounging by the pool, at the AKL pool specifically. You'll love it!
