Water park and more option question

I have family making their first WDW trip this fall, and they just had to add an extra day to their trip due to an insanely cheap airfare they stumbled upon (so they're now flying instead of driving two days). They had a package booked that included 6 days of tickets, with park hoppers and the Waterpark and more option. They will now be there for seven days. They got everything worked out hotel-wise with their TA, but they were telling me "Oh, we are just going to hang out at the motel the first day because we only have 6 days worth of tickets". But doesn't the WP&M option basically give you an additional six days that you can use at the waterparks? Like, couldn't they do a WP that first day and then still have 6 days of park passes to use? Or did I misunderstand when I read that? We've never gotten anything but base tickets, so I wanted to be sure I had that right before I told them!

Yes, you have up to 6 seperate "waterpark and more" entries, plus 6 park days that can be used within 14 days of 1st entry.

if you choose to go to a water park or a theme park, that's enough tickets for 12 days of admissions

Or you could go to 6 theme parks and 6 Waterparks in 6 days of admissions.
