water in POTC boats still an issue! (small rant)

Can you simply wait for another boat if the one you get has inches of water in it?

that would be an ok plan except if the next boat also has standing water.
then what do you do?
you could be waiting for everal boats or the CM's may just get annoyed after a while and tell you to get on or get ourt of line.
not trying to dismiss your suggestion but just saying it may not work out if there are several "bad" boats in a row.

Can y'all stop complaining about getting wet on the boats, so WDW doesn't read about it and then put the ride down for another 6 months to do another refurbishment:laughing:

you joke but honestly thats probably what needs to happen.
and since i don't want to go on it the way it is i wouldn't mind another 6 month refurb to fix the problems.

This is the first I've read about this (haven't been on the boards for too long). I recently had serious foot surgery, am getting around with a cane, but it would be a very big problem to me if my foot was to get very wet this way. Is this enough of an issue that I should perhaps avoid this ride the night I go to MVMCP?

if you can't get your foot wet then yes i would avoid riding.
its not happening to everyone in every boat but i wouldn't risk it.

I agree that you might want to consider avoiding it. Some people have commented that many of the boats have a lot of water on the floor that sloshes around plus the boats are often packed so much that they can't lift their feet.

Enjoy your MVMCP!

We rode last night. Sat in the middle. Didn't get wet all, nor did the people in the front of our boat. I am not saying it doesn't happen, our boat just didn't experience it. The floor of our boat was wet, but no standing water in it.

There is water in the ride. I don't understand how anyone can expect to not get water on them? It makes no sense. Complaints to GS because of the physics of water on a BOAT ride?

Totally agree with this! POTC is a "water ride".....its not the same but its almost like complaining about getting wet on splash mountain!

For the record, I rode POTC a few times about a month ago and had no issues...and i had sandals on. Im not saying the floor was bone dry, but there was minimal water on it...and i didnt get wet at all.

Just out of curiosity OP what kind of response would have made you happy?

i would have been happy with a response that included them acknowledging that there is a problem and giving me info about what they are doing to correct the problem.
and if that CM didn't have the info i was looking for they should have told me that they would get the info and email me back with it.

i don't think that is too much to ask considering that they have given me thorough answers in the past and if they didn't have an answer they found out and got back to me.

I wonder if this response is because there is still a lot of inconsistency in the issue. Many riders are not having issues at all while a few still do. So until it is a regular problem with many people complaining, they aren't going to do much about it.

I thought this too. Also, I'm wondering if they know there is a problem but aren't sure about the best, most economical way to go about fixing it. I mean the problem would have to be pretty bad to go to the trouble and expense of replacing all the boats.

Sitting in the boat? Surprised. Falling out if it? Not surprised.
Falling out :lmao: you'd have to be really drunk or just plain stupid to fall out. I see your point. But I still think one should not be surprised if they get wet on a ride that involves water somehow.

At this point, I am honestly not sure if the "but it's a water ride!" posters are trolling or just not grasping the issue.

See post #72 if you actually care to understand why that is an unrealistic viewpoint when considering the circumstances of the current issue.

There has always been a drop and you always got a little wet. I've been on POTC multiple times since the refurb and have not felt any difference. I've never understood why a little bit of water drives people so up the wall. Still, even if people ARE getting wetter than usual, I would say it's a minor thing to be worried about in the massive scheme of things. My personal opinion, of course.

Would you feel differently if you suddenly got completely soaked on it?

Odd. I have been a number of times since the refurb and I have NEVER seen standing water. At worst, the seats may have been a little wet - that's normal on a water ride, and usually a few drops of splash from the cannon fire.
