Water fountains in parks

My plan is to fill my insulated water bottle with ice water to start the day and just fill with adl water as we go. Unless there is no line at a CS to get water I would just prefer to fill in a fountain. When the ice does run out I will replenish at a CS location. Are there water fountains throughout the parks or are they few and far between?

Thanks!!

There are water fountains through out the parks. They are usually located near restrooms but there will be a few just randomly about.

Personally I think Florida tap water is vile so I only drink bottled when I'm down there (even when I lived there) but you may be okay with the taste.

Thanks for the info. We will be bringing Mio to hide any unpleasantness. I have heard the water is not the best. Def will be prepared.

There are a number of them throughout the parks. As wilkeliza said, they're often near restrooms, but not always. I don't have an issue with the way the water tastes, but my real issues with doing this (we've tried many times) is that the fountains don't shoot water high enough to fill a bottle because you have to lean it so far sideways. Not only that, after seeing a 4 year old in front of us licking the fountain nozzle, I'm less interested in using it. I typically just get ice water at CS places, it's much easier. Or some self service restaurants have water dispensers in the soda machines, and we use those.

That is a great point. We have the same issue at Hershey Park with low flowing fountains. Did not take into account the number of people using them and what could be coming OUT of people's mouths INTO the fountain. Ewwwww. Might be CS for us after all unless we are desperate. Hahaha

Nothing can be worse then the things I have witnessed in Central Park. I watched a woman wash her dog's bum in a drinking fountain and then verbally assaulted people who tried to tell her that was extremely wrong. I stopped using them completely after witnessing that! I've also seen people wash their baby's bum in them as well. Never at Disney thankfully but it wouldn't surprise me after watching a family let their little one pee in the bushes right outside of a bathroom.

Depending on how much the flavor of the water bothers you, Milo might night be enough.

We added kool aid packets to it. Back when you could buy the packets with sugar.

My husband would not drink it. And he likes Kool-Aid.

I've never seen anyone wash a childs' behind in a WDW fountain, but have seen plenty of kids putting their entire mouth on it. I've seen adults do stupid things too. On our most recent trip, we were in the Town Square Theater in MK. Frankly, I forget what we were waiting for, but we were sitting on the couches and saw they had one of those 5 gallon water coolers right near the restaurant, with little paper cups next to it. My kids wanted a drink, and before we got to it, and Indian lady walked up with her clearly used small plastic water bottle (like you'd buy in a convenience store). She put it right up to the nozzle. The CM nearby looked very panicked and was repeatedly saying "No, ma'am, you can't use that". The woman just looked at her pretending not to understand, even though the CM was clearly pointing and waiving her finger and head no. Poor CM was about to have a heart attack. I grabbed the water bottle and pulled it down and said to the woman "I think she's telling you no". The lady looked at me and just said "Oh, OK" and walked away. I just laughed and the CM then wouldn't let me use the cooler until she had cleaned it, but she seemed clearly relieved that I had made the lady go away.

There are also some chilled water locations throughout the parks as well. Meaning that the water is NOT coming out of a regular bubbler style water fountain rather in a large container with ice in it that the water flows out from the bottom of the container making very easy to refill your water bottle.

Here are the locations I know in each park that have the ice water containers:

Magic - Guest Relations & Crystal Palace Restaurant
EPCOT - Innoventions (the side closer to The Land)
Studios - Tune In Lounge & Hollywood & Vine Restaurant, Sci Fi Drive In
Animal - Nomad Lounge/Tiffins

I suggest you get a water bottle such as a Camel Back or Water Straw that has built in filters. We have both and they work awesome in the parks and filter the water to not taste like our water here in Central Florida.

We also go into QS restaurants like Backlot Express at the Studios that have the 'all-you-can-drink' stations and fill our bottle up there as well. We have NEVER had an issue with CM's telling us we cannot do this.

Well, we may have finally answered the question of why the MK water tastes so bad.......o_O

(Thanks, I REALLY needed a laugh today!!)

All you can do is laugh at it. Most people don't even believe it happened. Like I said I've never seen it at Disney thankfully but I wouldn't be surprised.

The water from the fountains this year was MUCH better than it was in prior years, except for (for some reason) the fountains by the Rapunzel bathrooms. My wife was even able to drink it :)

I wouldn't think that would be too much of a problem, given that you can walk up to the counter at any counter service restaurant and get water for free.

How is the assumed ethnicity of the woman relevant to your story?

I always bring a water bottle to the parks and just use the fountains to fill it up. Never had a problem with things but I would advise that you test the water first, not for taste, but for temperature. There are a few that have been sitting in the sun for quite a while so your water might not even been lukewarm but downright hot.

This summer I've been seeing a lot of people using the water fountains to rinse and get their frog toggs (cooling towels) wet. Disney is also selling their own version of them now and I'm not sure I would use a water fountain for drinking water at this time unless I had too.

counter service lines have never mattered to me, you don't order cold water you just go to the pick up spot and ask for it. some times of days this can be a challenge but overall it's quick and easy at most locations.

Just a comment: We've never had a problem with the taste, but we do drink tap water at home. Some people really hate it, but you might not! ;)

Just wait and see if people who are skeeved out by fountain drink self service machines comment here. I read a thread one day and have never looked at them the same way again!
