Water fountains at Disneyland?

I have a couple of questions about the water fountains at Disneyland.

I do know that you can get free water at any restaurant but I really don't want to stand in line for water. My plan is to bring in a water bottle with me that I can refill. I remember doing this a many years ago and the water tasted horrible. I'm spoiled by the yummy SF Bay Area tap water.

So here's my questions:
1- does the water from the fountains still taste awful?
2- Are there water fountains near every bathroom?
3- are there other fountains elsewhere?

I'm planning on the water tasting bad so I bought a water bottle that has built in filter.

Thanks

There are filtered water fountains at a few locations in Disneyland. There is one in the seating area of Rancho del Zocalo, by the Mint Julep Bar (sometimes hard to see if there is a line of guests waiting), and one to the left of the ordering windows at the Tomorrowland Terrace/Galactic Grill. There might be others, but those are the ones that I've used.

Refill your bottle yourself with filtered water (and ice) from the soda fountains at Pizza Port, Plaza Inn or Rancho del Zocalo (the water tap here is in the dining courtyard.)

At DCA the only place to do this is at Boardwalk Pizza.

There are drinking fountains in lines and all over the parks. I've seen diapers being changed in drinking fountains, so I'd rather pick a short line to ask for a cup of water.

Great question. As other posters have mentioned, filtered water is widely available. It tastes fine. The water from the fountains? Not so fine ;-).

As an aside, I recall what Walt said about opening say and the choice between having water fountains or toilets. "They can drink pepsi but they can't pee in the streets." (paraphrased)

You don't have to wait in line for water. Just walk to the pick up area of any quick service and they will give it to you immediately. They may even have them ready to go for you.

You don't have to, but I at least like to wait until the CM is done helping the person who was there before me. At a few places there is no pick up area, so I'll just wait. We're talking about 2 minutes most of the time.

While in DCA I tried out the whole getting free water thing. All you have to do is go somewhere they have fountain drinks such as sodas. Ask if you can get water and they give you a small cup to get ice water with. Its cheaper than buying expensive water bottles and then you don't have to worry about storing a water bottle in your backpack or carry it around. There are videos of on youtube of people doing this to prove that it is true as well. I got one cup of ice water for everyone I was with at the moment which was 4 people.

The baby center on main street has a faucet attached to the drinking fountain inside that is perfect for filling bottles and it's really cold too

Also, the Starbucks on Main Street has a glass water dispenser usually full of ice water. You can help yourself. Pretty sure it's not filtered but it's great in an emergency.

We carry the Camelback water bottles with the filter built in to them. All the water from the fountains tastes good through them. Amazon has them for about $12 each.

another option is to take single serving drink packets (like crystal light) to mix with the water to mask the flavor if you don't like it.

Clean (!) drinking fountains are in both First Aid centers. We always use those. Usually there are small plastic cups on top of the fountain to help fill water bottles. In DtD, the big Starbucks has a water dispenser by the carafes and napkins. If you like ice, make sure to have a bottle with a large opening.

Anaheim well water is foul, but they probably put it through at least a water softener. I don't notice a crust everywhere, which would be the signs of untreated well water. I didn't think it was bad on my last visit in June.

I don't know if a bottle filter helps that much. The main issue is water hardness, and most of those portable filters don't have ion exchange filtering. I did get one to filter high quality water at a workplace that had chlorine from the municipal supply. Those are great at removing chlorine. The water was good, but smelled like a swimming pool before it was filtered.

As for Bay Area water, it's not universally good. Hetch Hetchy or EBMUD water from the Sierra is great. Water from the Central Valley Project isn't as good. Marin uses local rainwater which isn't bad. But a few areas use well water which is nasty as heck. I lived in a place that used mostly well water.
