Hi, does anyone know if bottled water was packed in checked luggage if it would burst? We have a problem with the amount of sodium in the bottled water in FL. The other option is to mail it but it can be expensive since the water is heavy. Thanks for any info.

I always pack a case of bottled water for trips and thus far, I haven't had a problems. I just buy a case of 12 oz. plastic bottles and stick the entire box in my suitcase.

Good luck and have a great trip! :D

We packed an ENTIRE suitcase full of Poland SPring last November! It worked out well because at the end of the week, we had an empty suitcase for all of our purchases! The water was just fine! We packed three bottles per gallon-size zip-lock bags just in case, but didn't have a problem! It was SOOO nice to have the water we are used to drinking, and not have to pay $2.50 per bottle of salty water in Florida!! ENJOY!

A third voice reporting no problems with water. :)

Last August we joined some friends from Arizona at WDW. Have you seen the commercials for Propel? Well, they had it in AZ last year and our friends brought 24 bottles with them, and had no problems.

You will run into a problem mostly with bevarages that are carbonated. Cargo holds on aircraft are pressurized, but not to the same pressure as the passenger compartment. Anything with a gas in it will want to expand on an airplane due to the decrease in pressure from the air surronding it.

Same here,

I have take water every trip with us...be careful tho, it can make your suitcase pretty heavy.

I also take a couple bottles on board. Also, our supertarget has water sold in little pouches l(like hi c pouches comes). They wouldn't take as much room as bottles, but there maybe a leaking hazard there.

I have also taken plastic bottled coke products in my carryon with no problem. Put in baggies to be safe.

Just did this two weeks ago to Pensacola.

Wrap the bottles in a couple layers of large Hefty Bags and secure with tape. That way if they do burst open, at least some of the liquid will be contained. And use hard side luggage. Your fellow passengers will be most unhappy if your water bursts, and leaks out of your bag and into theirs.

When down in Orlando, we stop at the Super Walmart and pick up our bottled water!!

You COULD pick up some bottled water at a store in Florida but Zephyr Hills water is still no match for Poland Spring. :)

I absolutely agree, Ted. We are following you by a week.

My sister was thinking the same thing, Anne.

My friend's daughter recently traveled to Mexico and just kept the water in it's original box from the supermarket , opened the top and tapped it shut at the ticket desk. Went right along with checked luggage. Use some extra duck tape on the bottom to make sure everthing is secure. Put your name , flight # and where you are going on the box side. She said when she arrived everything was fine.

We always go to the Super Walmart on Rt 192, next to Medeival Times. You can either take World Drive to 192 or Rt 535 (road where Crossroads is) to 192. It's right after mile marker 14 (going east).

Dont' use duct tape! It doesn't stick very well to cardboard, and wo'nt stick to anything if it gets wet. Reinforced paper tape is the best, but has to be wetted to use. For "at the counter" taping, heavy duty plastic packing tape is the best bet.
