Water--Bottled or drinking fountain?

With the heat I am concern about drinking enough water. About how many bottles of water would you drink from opening til about..say 3pm? We are driving so will probably bring in a couple cases of water. (there is 5 of us) If we get our our bottles filled in a park--How bad is the water? Does crystal light cover the taste? or are people using it just because they don't really like water anyway?

That' probably a two-bottle day for me, and I tend to drink a lot of water on a normal day... By the end of my trip, my room is usually filled with 10 half-filled bottles.

I generally find the park water fountains (Epcot) to be on the warm side.

So far, the coldest and best tasting one I've found is located outside the restrooms in the International Gateway area. Just let it run a moment first. The one outside the restrooms near Imagination is usually pretty good, too.

Also found a cold one on the Monorail platform at the TTC.

One of these days I'll go around, try every single one of them, and give a report on these boards.

bigmac - how much you drink just depends on your own body and how much you feel the heat. Do enjoy your visit and have a wonderful vacation.

We definitely use bottled water. Even the kids hate the taste of the water fountains at Disney. I don't know what's wrong with their water supply but it tastes horrible!

It's not just Disney! Florida water!! :crazy2:
I'll usually drink 4 or 5 bottles of water while at the parks. I buy them from the park vendors, as I prefer them ice cold, and find that they warm up pretty quick.

We tend to drink constantly while in WDW. Especially during the hot months. While I prefer bottled water, I hate lugging the bottles around all day. So, we have one bottle to start with, then after a few hours heave it. And just drink water at meals and drink from the fountains. Sure, the fountain water isn't clean, fresh and wonderful tasting...but it beats dehydration and/or those water bottles banging against me all day.

You can judge if you are getting enough water by the amount of time you spend in the restroom. If you aren't stopping and 'using the facilities' at least every other hour, you aren't drinking enough. Once an hour is better.

I agree,it's Florida water, and yes, the fountains in the park are warm, yuck! :guilty:

We aren't used to FL water and it made us sick the first year we went. We think it tasts horrible. We bring Britta water bottles to the parks and fill them up. We have always been able to get cups of cold water free at cs places and transfer it to the bottle. Usually we just fill up the bottles at the fountains though.

All 5 of us drank tap water and no one had any complaints. There ARE places where I can't drink the water (e.g. around Lake Texoma in TX and OK and my inlaws' well water in Illinois) but none of us noticed anything bad about WDW water. We brought plastic bottles with us and filled them from the taps so we wouldn't always have to be searching out drinking fountains.

We get sick from FL water also. I'd guess I drink 4-5 bottles a day, not counting beverages at meals.

Spoken like a true NY'er (haha)....I wasn't too fond of the FL water myself, however if I was thirsty I drank it!

I think I drink more water than the average person. I probably drink five 24 oz bottles a day, and then I have a 32 oz cup I use at home. My desk in my classroom is always littered with water bottles. But anyway, I have drunk the water in the fountains at DW and didn't think it was all that bad. Sometimes you just have to drink it. I have found that the bottled water that supposedly comes from Italy is wonderful, so whenever I'm in Epcot I buy several bottles of it.

The water supply in Orlando, like much of Florida comes from deep underwater aquafers, high in mineral content. Sure it's purified and filtered and all, but unless you're used to similar water in your hometown, you should drink bottled.

There is not enough Crystal Light in the WORLD to cover the taste. As a matter of fact, if you purchase ANY fountain drinks, you can taste it.

I'm told by plumbers in my family that Florida (or WDW more specifically) uses sulphur to filter the water. And, based on the taste, they really filter the water.

At least you know it's clean, even if it doesn't taste to great.

I wanted my "own" water so i shipped a case of Poland Spring water(best their is) to the Wl. A couple of times we bought Dasani in the parks, not bad actually. I wouldn't touch the drinking water in Florida, whether at the parks or at the WL. I even brushed my teeth with the bottled water.

The water is awful, awful, awful! When you are there for 11 days in August, you just can't afford to buy multiple bottles of bottled water at the parks for multiple people. I hate to say it, but I actually bring a water purifier and load up at the hotel before going.

Nonetheless, cost or not, taste or not, you need the water.

We bring thermal water bottles and holders that have a shoulder strap. We fill them up with ice from the hotel before we leave in the morning. When we run out of ice/water, we stop at someplace that has fountain drinks and ask for a cup of ice (N/C) and then fill up with water from the fountains. This way we stay hydrated and don't spend a fortune on bottled water each day. :flower:

The fountain drinks are ok --you can't tell the taste or the smell of the water(covered up w/ coke syrup) until you get down to just ice left in your cup. Then you wonder "what's that smell??"and then you think next time you'll buy a bottle of coke or water instead.
