Hello. I am taking my family on our first ever cruise for my son's 13th birthday. I was wondering what the temperatures were in Jan. We are doing the Western caribbean cruise Jan 21-28, 2012. I am hoping it is not too cold to enjoy the water or the beaches. Can someone give me some input? Thanks!

We cruised at that time of year on DCL a few years back. You won't freeze to death, but it is noticeably cooler than in the summer months. Temps during the day were very warm and pleasant, but as the sun started going down, you noticed it (the hot tubs were busier in the evening than typical). Biggest difference was Castaway Cay. Water temp was definitely cooler, fine once you got used to it, but chilly at first and when you headed back to the beach.

Having said that, it was a great time of the year to cruise and was plenty warm to enjoy all of the ship's activities and ports. Coming from Michigan, we thought that the temperature was heavenly:)

Several years ago we did an early January cruise. It was terrific weather. It was snowing here in Virginia but I was in a bikini in the Bahamas. The water was warm and the temperature was in the mid 80's.
