We are going down on Oct. 9 to see the new "Wishes" fireworks. We live in Orlando, but can't afford passes this year :( I would like to hear the story and music, along with the fireworks. But I'm not sure this is possible. We were going to sit on the beach at the Poly. I know no one has seen this yet, but any suggestions? Can we ride the monorail to MK and just not go in the park? I know it will be a madhouse, but do you think we can see everything from outside the park entrance? Thanks!

I have seen them while riding the monorail and while riding the WDW buses.. you probably can view some of it from outside the park.. I am not sure how much because it has not opened yet. Good luck..

Because of the way that the fireworks are being shoot from the buildings on Main Street you probably will not have a good view from the main entrance itself. But the Poly, Contemporary and the Grand pipe the music in so that they can be enjoyed at any of those resorts. If you can get passed the security guard (make a priority seating at a restuarant... even if you don't use it) the resorts should still be a good place to see it from (they were great for Fantasy in the Sky).

You will be able to see much of the show from the MK resorts/TTC area, but not all of it. I have to assume that music will continue to be played in the areas that it is currently played, although much of the dialogue may not make sense from locations outside of the hub.

Hey jacncaitsmom,

I think they're doing a preview of Wishes on the 8th for the press. I'll be at the press event, and two other Unofficial Guide researchers will be stationed at the Poly and Contemporary to see which has the best vantage point for Wishes.

Drop me a line (testa@ncat.edu) and I'll give you my cell number. You can call me on the 9th and I'll see what we can suggest for viewing locations.

Len

Since when? I know the CG has always had the music out on the observation deck but I have never heard it at the others.

The Poly beach is always a good spot for viewing. You also may want to consider the observation deck on the 4th floor of the Contemporary since the one on the 15th is now off limits.

hi ya kids. Here's a little bit of news. I have watched the "Wishes" fireworks for the last four nights. (Look under my name and see where I live) While it is a beautifully undescribable fireworks show, there is 10 minutes of verbage (script) that goes with this fireworks show. I would have to say that it appears as if at least half of the fireworks are extremely low. Now I understand all the safety regulations, but I KNOW what I have seen every night this week too.

I wish I could describe to you what I have seen. Here's just a taste. Within the first 30 seconds there are two bursts that explode into 5-pointed blue stars and as they expand in size a gorgeous burst of silver light flash in the heart of the star.

Ohana and the observation area at Narcoossee's play fireworks music. The music is also played at the TTC.

So the beach at the Poly is out. I'm assuming there is no music there. How do you get to the observation area at GF/Narcooosee (sp?)? Do you have to have eaten dinner there?

What about the Fireworks cruise? We're joining a group of DISers on one in December, and I'm hoping we'll be able to see/hear the show, since that's, well, the point of the cruise! :boat:

It sounds like the fireworks are shot from a different spot? Does this mean the usual good viewing spots would change?

The new 12-minute "Wishes" show features more than twice the number of fireworks shells currently used in the 7-minute Fantasy in the Sky. The shells are split evenly between the main site (behind the park) and the rooftops of the Fantasyland buildings (Sir Mickey's and Tinkerbell's). The area immediately behind and to the left and right of the castle will be closed to guests beginning about 30 minutes prior to the show.
CG, Ohana, and TTC will still have good views. The best view in the park is on the Main St. half of the hub (Crystal Palace to Plaza Pavillion) although you can also see well from the rest of the hub, Main St, and Town Sq. Parts of Adventureland and Tomorrowland will continue to have an adequate view of the main-site shots (although having only viewed the show from the hub, I can't give more specific information).
Tinkerbell no longer starts the show, she is still featured during the show (and she looks more radiant than ever).

In 2001 we visited Orlando but not WDW that trip. We had to go to SoG to pick up tickets so we made reservations for 1900 PF for dinner (as the villain dinner was about to end). We then headed to the ferry dock at GF to view the fireworks. We could easily hear the music and dialog from FITS

The music is loud, and the fireworks are still in the sky. No walls have been built to block the view. You will still see a fireworks show from outside the park (in some locations with the soundtrack). The *Best* view is from inside the park, but it is not, by any stretch, the only view.

We were at the Poly last week and they ran Wishes twice while we were there. At first we didn't know what it was and they ran it at odd times (9:50 one night and 10:30 the next). We went out and watched it from the Poly pool area one night and unfortunately, couldn't watch it the next night (kids just getting ready for bed). It was spectacular!! The firework effects are outstanding and they are choreographed so well with the music. The music and dialogue was piped into the Poly pool area (speakers hidden in the landscaping). It took me a few minutes to pick up on that. It was just such a great show and although we didn't see all of it, or maybe see the whole effect, it was super to get the sneak preview!!

It was great to see this as we were very disappointed in Illuminations. We remember the days (10 years ago) of a spectacular Illuminations show, and the one now is a letdown compared to what it was.

Does Tink still fly over the same spot?

Yes, Tinkerbell is a part of Wishes, but not before the show. She flies during the show now.
