Watching MSEP and Wishes

We've been regulars at WDW, but it's been several years, and we'll be traveling at a much busier time this year than in past trips. Our last night, we're hoping to see MSEP and Wishes. I'm trying to figure out how to do that given the current options. The schedule says that MSEP is at 9 and Wishes at 10.

A Wishes dessert party reservation opened up, so I did grab that (will cancel if it seems a waste). The most appealing part of that - avoiding fighting to get and hold a spot to watch for a long time before the show - seems like it might not be the case, though. I'd hate to go to that expense just to find we have no better of an experience than had I fought the crowds.

Plus, I think doing the dessert party would make us miss the MSEP, given the timing. Does that seem right?

Fastpass now seems like another option. But, it seems that might only be for MSEP, not for Wishes. If we do fastpass, do we actually get a "good" view, or do we still need to wait in line and arrive super early to hold a good spot? How is the viewing location for Fastpass? Also, if they do offer Wishes FPs again, is it reasonable to get them for both MSEP and Wishes, or is the location/timing for that combination an issue?

FIRST, you are forgetting to include the THIRD evening spectacular at MK,
Celebrate the Magic. It is a show projected on the front of the castle.
Many consider it to be more exciting and unique than MSEP or Wishes.
It can be viewed anywhere that the front of the castle can be seen (including from the
Wishes FP areas.) CtM starts 15 min. before Wishes.

1. Correct.
2. & 4. Good of MSEP only. Bad for Wishes and CtM from the MSEP FP area.
3. For MSEP, arrive about 30 min. early.
5. Highly unlikely within the foreseeable future. (But, stay tuned.)
6. Yes.
7. Guests can get from one to the other.

Thanks! We need a "reputation" button here...

I had forgotten all about the CtM show (I did see it on our last trip). We've always managed to get good fireworks/castle viewing on our own, but again, we've always gone at less busy times. I'm guessing we'll cancel the dessert party and try for MSEP fastpasses (then go from there to try to find a good CtM/Wishes view...).
