Where is the best place to watch HEA facing the front of the castle, but where there are no shoulder to shoulder crowds? We don't need to be super close to the castle as we have seen it many times. Just want to be able to see the projections and fireworks, even if it is from a distance.

What are the crowds like at the top of Main Street close to the train station?

I'm sorry to say that as of late July, crowds were terrible, shoulder-to-shoulder, throughout the entire Hub all the way down Main Street. If the night we saw it is any indication, I don't think there's a single spot with a decent viewing location where you won't be jam-packed against other people. :(

WDW in general is very crowded, and with HEA ending soon, everybody wants to see it one last time.

When we went 2 weeks ago, we watched it twice from the garden area in front of Casey's. If you get there an hour or hour and a half before the show, you should be able to get a spot on the back fence. That gives you a buffer between you and the crowd outside the area. It was more crowded than it would've been if it were just for dessert buffet guests, but not packed like it is outside the area. The park was very crowded when we were there, but for viewing the fireworks, it was actually nice- didn't feel crammed in at all.

I don't think a lot of people realize it's open to the public now and when it gets closer to show time, people are so thick outside the entry point that they don't even realize there's a way in to sit there. When it's over, just sit back for a little while and let the exiting crowd to thin out.
