watching fireworks at VWL?

We're staying at Villas at Fort Wilderness Lodge. Any public place you'd recommend we go to watch Wishes from afar? My DD3 won't be able to stay up to see it, but I'd like for my older daughter to get a glimpse before bedtime. We did this last time from the fire escape stairs at the Contemporary (thanks Dis-boarders!!) and it was amazing.

Since I haven't seen as much of Robo lately, here's one of his maps. The WL Villas are just off the map and there are no sight lines. From WL, Robo recommends the employee parking lot. If it's raining, I believe the corners of the hallways at WL above the lobby may have some view, but that is only if you have no other choice (and I don't recall if it's even worth it). You could also go over to FW and get the benefit of sound out by the dock,

Sounds like we're better off splitting up that night, so one kid can get to bed and the other sees the fireworks. Or maybe even taking the boat back just before they start.

You could take the boat from MK to FW, but I think it will stop at WL first (then FW and MK) and not be of good use for the return trip. Since you are at the villas, the walk to FW would be a bit shorter. .5 to .75 miles I would guess.

Don't do the walk between FW/WL after dark! It is not lit, and there is wildlife in the woods (especially snakes). We made the mistake of leaving FW just past sunset to walk back to WL, and it was mighty dark in those woods before we made it across.

Depending on the timing of the fireworks, you could take the small boat from WL to the Contemporary and watch fireworks from there. Or go to CR from MK, watch the fireworks, and then catch the small boat to WL.

There is no Villas at Fort Wilderness Lodge because there is no Fort Wilderness Lodge. There is Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge, two separate and non-related resorts. Only thing in common is the word Wilderness. But at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge (they are not at the Fort), you can't see anything from the villas except trees and maybe a little bit of the Water Parade. You can walk out to the boat dock to see stuff at MK. We've seen the fireworks from there before.

The map in the second post doesn't even show the VWL. They would be about an inch below the bottom of the photo in the center slightly to the right.

And you don't want to walk from FW to WL at night. The path isn't lit.

I don't believe that you will be able to see but a few fireworks from the Villas. The villas at WL are on the other side of WL from the MK. I think that you can see them from the beach. When we stayed at WL and saw the fireworks from our room, we were on the north side of the lodge and were pretty high up. Even then we only saw the highest fireworks over the trees. The sky would light up for the others that we couldn't see.
We are staying at VWL this summer as well. Haven't requested a room. Just we'll just hope for the best.

Thank you for correcting my typo. It should have read simply VWL - Villas at Wilderness Lodge. We'll just try for the boat just as they start and hope for the best over the lake, or split up the kids before it starts.
