DH & I just watched "Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead" last night. We are definitely inspired to try a juicing detox. I would *love* to lose 35 pounds. I went to the website & it seems the new juicing plans include meals. I suppose doctors/lawyers advised him to add solid foods into the daily plans?

Anyway, DH & I have a BlendTec blender & used the "whole juice" button for: 1 bunch of spinach, about a cup of carrots, 1/2 bunch of broccoli, about 1/2 cup of fresh blueberries, & 1 bag of frozen strawberries. It's all we had on hand, but it was delicious! I am going to stock up on more fresh fruits & veggies today.

Any advice? What is the ginger/ginger root used for? Is it for taste, or does it add a certain benefit that I don't want to skimp on? Have any of you suffered from the fatigue, migraines, nausea, vomiting that others have mentioned? I'm sure we should have "prepped" our bodies for this, but we are pretty healthy (other than me needing to lose weight) & we have been eating almost all organic for a year now.

I'm so excited to get this started & I would LOVE it if someone wanted to join in & help hold me accountable! :grouphug:

Just thought I'd post an update, in case anyone was wondering ;) I have been completely faithful to this for a week, but added almonds, cashews, & pistachios for protein. I have lost 7.2 lbs in 7 days! DH has lost 6 lbs & will start adding in a "normal" healthy lunch tomorrow.

I would like to stick to this until I reach my goal weight. Sooo, I have about 29 lbs to go. Everyone is so concerned because we are only eating blended fruits & veggies (& nuts.) BUT, I remind them that there's really nothing better on God's green earth :thumbsup2 I swim laps & walk 3-4 times per week. We renewed our gym membership today, so I will begin zoomba & spin classes soon. I totally hate the gym. But, losing this weight has definitely motivated me!

that is fantastic!! i was inspired by the documentary too and bought a juicer and made some juice at first to supplement, but have not really gotten on the ball to make this a priority and commitment. you are an inspiration though and get me thinking :teeth:

I know nothing about juicing so I wasn't able to provide any response to your first post; however, I'm happy to see your update. Wow! Congrats on weight loss! How was your energy during the week? How hungry were you?

Thanks, guys! :goodvibes I've already hit my first plateau, which is really frustrating, but I'm still going to stick with it! I went to TX Roadhouse with the family Sat night & cheated. :sad2: I had roasted chicken, dry sweet potato, & dry salad. But what I didn't have *dry* were 2 of the BEST ROLLS you've ever tasted in your life with that sinful cinnamon butter. Oh my goodness, they were delicious. Yep, I'm paying for it now. I'm back up about a pound. Slowly but surely.....

And, if you haven't watched the movie, you REALLY need to. It was motivating to see him & others go through the same struggles. But you get to see the end results, which are great! Thanks for all of the encouragement. Now I'm off to fix my caffeine free herbal tea.

Hi! My DH and I just watched this as well. We start on the 6th full force. We both need to lose some serious weight and we are starting a video blog (Vlog) to document our journey. We are super excited, bought a really good juicer yesterday, and we are ready to go full on!

Friday is the big day, but today we start trying to prepare our bodies. As of today, no more soda. Just water. Very little meat. When we get our vlog up I will post some links.

Also, we joined a couple of groups on www.jointhereboot.com. There is a group starting on the same day as us and an NC group that we have joined. This is a HUGE step for us, we are committed to 30 days with the possibility of 60, but we do have a lot of weight to lose. The hard part is going to be cooking for the kids when I can't eat. :lmao:

Wasn't the movie inspiring?!!?!? My DMIL is 5' and weighs over 200 lbs. She has lost 24 lbs in 2 weeks! She has never stuck to anything like this, and the immediate weight loss has kept her inspired to persevere ;) Don't give up! She even hit a plateau after about 7 days. She stuck with it and the weight continued to fall off.

I have added in lunch every day, and I'm still at only 7 lbs lost. :sad1: It is VERY hard to cook for the kids, and resist the temptations. June has been a super busy month for us (2 different camps everyday for the kids for the WHOLE month.) So we were always in a hurry. Now, when I'm feeling the need to eat, I plan on taking the time to make myself a huge salad. I think as long as I stick to the spinach, chard, tomatoes, apples, strawberries, etc..(and NO salad dressing) that I'll be okay. At least it will give me something to CHEW popcorn::

I wish you well with this! If you go into telling yourself you WILL do it for 30/60 days, you can do it. :yay:

Going into day 3 and I am down 6.2 pounds. Last night was tough, I really wanted a whopper. and I dreamed about food for the first time. But I got this, we'll see where we are at 30 days! Next week once my body is used to the change I'll start walking.

I constantly struggle with my weight (up and down). I just can't seem to find a diet and exercise plan that works for me and fits my lifestyle. So I understand your plateau frustration! Hang in there, I hope the pounds keep dropping for you!

I watched that film. I drink juice just about every day for breakfast, and then for the rest of the day I eat a primarily vegan diet, only whole wheat carbs, and very little added fat or sugar. I do treat myself to pizza and ice cream about once a week, but I've found that this diet, (and I don't really even consider it a diet anymore, since I'm just used to eating this way now,) really works for me, and I've lost a lot of weight since the beginning of this year.

That's awesome! I'm on day 7 and as of this morning I am down 10.8. I started going to the gym yesterday.

You definatly lose a ton of weight the first week or so with a lot of juice. I did a cleansing diet two different times this year, and both times I lost 5 pounds within the first couple of days.

Just had to jump in! I'm back to Dis after a long time (thanks to the app!). This post jumped out. I saw the movie too & was just blown away. I run, but can never really seem to drop weight. I usually eat pretty healthy but have a definite issue with carbs. Thanks for the inspiration--tomorrow's day 1!

WELL! Today was the one month mark for us :cool1: Unfortunately, (in FSND standards) I'm only down 8 lbs. But wait....8 lbs in 1 month in the REAL world is a ton of weight! We have been eating 1 meal a day, and I've been walking 1.5-3.5 miles about 3-4x per week. I cheated today, because I was shopping in the city with DD11 ALL DAY! I had a Chick-fil-a FRIED sandwich on wheat, with no mayo or anything. I didn't have a side, and drank a bottle of water. Then, DMIL invited us to Olive Garden & for more shopping. Sooo....I had the regular salad with no salad dressing :faint: and NO breadsticks. I drank water & that was it. She had a grilled chicken salad with no dressing. I feel pretty guilty because I only juiced this am PLUS had a tall Starbuck's caramel macchiato (with skim milk.) Okay, enough with the confessions :rotfl:

I'm so excited to see all of you trying FSND!! :wave2: I think this is such a healthy alternative to all of the fad diets that so many of us have tried. Feel free to post your progress, failures, and encouragement here. It's nice to know that I'm not alone here :goodvibes OH! And to give you all a little encouragement....DMIL has been on this about 3.5 weeks & has lost 30 lbs! She eats a baked chicken breast every day for lunch, but doesn't really cheat other than that. :cool1: I am SO PROUD of her, because she has been very obese most of her life! She loves watching the weight fall off & bought 4 new outfits tonight. ;) I can't wait to hear how everyone else is doing!

Well after 8 days I'm down 12.5 pounds. Today wasn't as tough as some others, but I'm just taking it one day at a time. I think Friday, which will be the two week mark, my DH and I are going to a store just to try stuff on. Maybe that will help give us incentive!!

That is WONDERFUL!! Stick with it! Just make sure you drink a big glass of juice before you go & don't stay out tooooo long ;) If you are in the mall, those pretzels & chocolate chip cookies almost smell too good to resist. popcorn::

I hope you enjoy trying on clothes! I'm in TX, so swim suit season runs through September. I'm hoping that I'll need a new swimsuit before the pool gets too cold. ;) And by *NEW* I'm meaning down about THREE sizes!!! :dance3: Mine is already getting loose, but I refuse to buy another one until I'm literally falling out of it. :rotfl:

Okay, it's been a while, so I thought I'd better update :cool1: I have been walking 3 miles a day 3-4 times a week, and doing squats & some light weights. I'm down 13.8 lbs!! I know it's taking me longer to lose, but I can tell I'm definitely putting on muscle weight. I hope you all are sticking with it too!

We booked our first Disney Cruise (DH & me only) for Oct 6th. So, we will be at the beach Labor Day weekend, beach Sept 15th, & cruising early Oct. DH said he would *LOVE* to see me in a skirt-less swimsuit. :rotfl: I would love to hit that goal! I'm hoping to lose about 20 more lbs & get these flabby thighs in a "real" swimsuit :goodvibes

Hi!! Today is day 30 for me and I am down 19.8 pounds. I sooooo wanted to hit 20, but alas, not to be. My hubby is down 32 pounds!!!!! We're gonna keep it up until 60, and I might go a bit longer. Hubby will be at his goal by then, but I have longer to go.

Thanks so much for the inspiration! I watched the video last night on Netflix and ordered my juicer on Amazon straight away. It should be here in two days. Tonight I am going with my sister (we live together) to Costco and the grocery store to stock up on fruits and veggies. We are committed to 10 days to start. It feels less overwhelming than 30 or 60, but if all goes well, I know we would both keep it up.

I think more than anything we both want to kickstart our bodies, then focus on keeping them healthy and detoxed so we can be more active and maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Yes, I have weight to lose. And I would love some muscle definition again. But more important to me in the energy, the overall feeling of health and the transformation of the way I look at food. I want food to nourish me, not console, passify or entertain me.

Thanks again for the great story Bunkkinsmom, I am inspried!
