Day 6: Uncontrollable Queues & Undrinkable Booze…

It wasn't a horrifically early start BUT we arrived at Chef Mickeys in the Grand Canyon Concourse in plenty of time. We picked up a pager, had our photo taken…

And played the waiting game… It seemed quite a long time but eventually we we shown to our table and, as the characters were nowhere to be seen, quickly piled our plates at the buffet. This is my least fave Character Brekkie .....I really enjoyed it & preferred it over Crystal Palace... Course you did!!! :p Plus when you're staying in Bay Lake Tower it seems daft not to attend. We ate our food and were presented with more beeootiful cupcakes in honour of our birthdays..

Finally the characters began to reappear and we waved our napkins in delight!!! Well, I did anyway!!! :lmao:

First up was Goofy. I don't know why but he seemed to be rather enamoured with me and kept gesticulating a "call me" hand gesture from across the restaurant!!! What can I say?? I'm a Goof magnet!!!

Breakfast done, we decided to make our way to the Magic Kingdom. I took a few pics along the way..…

And walked straight onto one of our joint faves - PHILHARMAGIC!!!

Once outside, we meandered towards the Haunted Mansion BUT it was sporting one of the LONGEST queues I've EVER seen for this attraction so decided not to bother.. I t was then that I asked Claire if we could head over to Toontown Fair as I hadn't been since 2004. And that's what we did. En route, I attempted to prove I was the Rightful Monarch of England… Move over, Liz!!! You failed! Er, well yes...

P1080075.jpg

And we noticed much of the area was fenced off for the future expansion plans...

Claire snapped plenty of pics of both Mickey's and Minnie's pads as we slowly shuffled along.....

I DO look regal in Minnie's chair tho', don't I???

Unfortunately, some people and their offspring didn't quite get the notion of orderly queuing and felt compelled to attempt the body barge or shoulder sidle at regular intervals. Grrrrr they were THE most annoying family ever!!! We developed quite a knack of blocking their access - tho' one child (and not a particularly small one either) did attempt to go through my legs!!! Fortunately she was prevented by a sudden bottleneck in Toontown traffic but it was most disconcerting!!!

By this time, we were feeling horrendously hot and bothered so decided to return to the resort for a little R&R. On our way, we picked up a couple of Dole Floats and enjoyed them whilst mooching down Main Street USA. That short walk back to BLT from the Magic Kingdom was so fab. One minute we were picking our way through teeming hoards - the next, we had the path to ourselves…

Mmmmmm Pineapple Dole whips......YUM!

Back at the resort, we decided to have a little time by the pool. Tho' I couldn't find the towels anywhere and became a little peeved!!! Fortunately CC (remember her???) was strolling around, taking some photos and spotted the stash... IMO it's one of the lovelier DVC pool areas - a real suntrap and with cool theming. However, it was super-hot so we only stayed for an hour...

…before going back to 7904 and getting ready for our evening ADR at The Yachtsman Steakhouse. We hopped into a cab at the Contemporary and, upon arrival at the Yacht Club, kicked off the evening with a couple of drinkies in the Crew's Cup Lounge…

Karen had a glass of sparkling wine, whilst I had my first ever Blue Glowtini....

P1080103.jpg

We were soon ushered through to the restaurant and sat perusing the menu as the server brought speciality bread and oil/butter. Mmmm my favourite, onion bread....

P1080106.jpg

I THINK We both ordered the Yachtsman Filet Mignon… We sure did. ::yes:: I had the double cooked fries with mine & you had the mash, see my food porn pics do come in handy. :lmao: Yeah, yeah... :teeth:

P1080107.jpg

And I had the most delish Creme Brulee for dessert.. One of the best IMO!!.. ..As per Mr Mad Hatter's recommendation. ;)
Indeed, thanks Lee! :thumbsup2

P1080113.jpg

Claire had the Signature Banana Napoloeon… This is my favourite dessert EVER!! EVER???? REALLY???!!! It does look delicious - Richard's already said he's trying it in October...

P1080111.jpg

And we shared a lovely bottle of rose… Claire, can you recall what it was called, hun??? No I haven't made a note of the name but it was a lovely bottle of White Zinfandel. :thumbsup2

 On our next trip can we do Food AND WINE Porn, please...???

Once dinner was over, we made our way back by catching a bus from the Yacht Club that was heading to the Magic Kingdom and then strolled over to the resort from the MK bus stop. We had been intending to go straight to bed but suddenly it felt as if the night was still young!!! So, we sidled into the bar area of The Wave restaurant over at the Contemporary and sampled a couple cocktails - for research purposes, you understand!!! Of course! We all know it would have been an alcohol free trip if it wasn't for the quiz!!! Naturally - our bodies are temples!!!

The first two were very good… Raspberry Rain:

P1080115.jpg

But the second ones we tried - mmm not so much!!! In fact, for the first time in my life, I abandoned a cocktail!!! :scared1:

They were called Pineapple Flambe - they were vile, I was looking around the bar to find a plant that needed watering! :lmao: YUK!

P1080116.jpg

You look impressed.....NOT!!!!! I look scared!!!

P1080119.jpg

Sufficiently soused, we made our weary way over to Bay Lake Tower and bed… I can't really recall the end of the night other than we drank a bottle (or more) of wine back in the room & apparently according to my notes we put the world to rights........so in other words lots of drunken ramblings!!!! :rotfl: :lmao: Claire darling, we had 1 glass of Pinot Grigio each to take that yuk Butterscotch/Pineapple taste away!!! Honest... Don't you remember that bottle lasted for ages and we chucked most of White Zinf away...

Night, nightcap, everyone!!! :goodvibes
