Wasting away again in Loserville-(all welcome to grab an adult beverage and come in)

All it takes is a medical tragedy. What the LOSERS won't do for each other. You guys posted and everything...

My son is doing fine. We have his checkup with the ped neurologist on Thursday morning and will leave right after that to start our trip down to Florida. I can just imagine that visit. "Ummmm... we're on our way to Disney World. Anything I should know?"

Seriously, he hasn't had a seizure since May 10th. His meds seem to keep him under control. I've been researching about touring Disney for our October trip, so the only unknowns that have been tossed at me are higher temps (okay, much much higher temps) and bigger crowds. We'll figure it out.

My sister has her re-mastectomy scheduled for 8-11. Chemo will follow. They are trying to buy her time, but don't think they can beat it. Of course, this is a very rare sarcoma cancer, so they don't really know everything. We're praying for a miracle, but we're enjoying the now in case we don't get it.

Have a good time in WDW. Enjoy your sister and your visit. I will be praying for you all. Hopefully all will go well with your boy.

Have you posted on disAbilities yet? They may have an idea or two for you over there.

I will keep your sister in my prayers.

I did post before he was officially diagnosed with epilepsy. The response I got was along the lines of "Your son has only had a few seizures? Big deal." :snooty:

Okay, not exactly like that, but I basically got a whole lot of stories about how many people have it worse... which they do, and I get that... but, sheesh. All I wanted to know was what I needed to be aware of. I found a "touring WDW with epilepsy" article on allears that was wonderful. Really, that alone told me almost everything I needed to know.

I will keep your sister in my prayers.

Thanks Lara. And thanks to everyone else to. I've been here the past couple of days checking up on a good friend's trip report. I'll try to catch you on the flip side too!

Yeah, you get :snooty: a lot on that board. I've stopped going there now that I have the info I need on allergies.

Sending you all best thoughts from Germany - I've been reading even if I haven't been posting much anywhere....

Amazing the things which make people competitive, isn't it? Sad to say....

Seriously. Of all the competitions I might have ever wanted to win in my life, who's kid has the worst medical condition isn't one of them.

Of course, I don't buy into the competitive parenting anyway. My boys are great. I don't need to measure them against any other kid to know that.

Tricia sending my thoughts and prayers for your family right now:hug:

I've had to deal with people like that IRL, I don't need to search it out online, too! Why oh why are people like that?:sad2:

Glad to hear your DS has been doing well on his medicine. Have a fabulous trip and take lots of pics!

I am so sorry your sister and your family are dealing with all this.
But just know we are here for you. If you need anything please let me know.
Also if you need the name of a dr at Dana Farbwer in Boston to read over her stuff to give any info they may have let me know and I will give you my drs name. I asked today when I was there if they would help a friend of mine if need be and they said sure will.

Tricia,

Sorry about the "contest" Ugh! I guess I have never posted a question over there. I usually just lurk. Occasionally I will offer help if it's something I know about. It's crazy what some will do I guess.

Take lots of pictures and enjoy your time.

Shay how are you feeling?

I had a bad drive thru experience....to post or not to post....hmmmm

Hmmmm....but if I post it as it's own thread, it will probably start a big fight. :rolleyes1

Is there gonna be any pie involved? If yes then go for it ;)

Kellie, that is so incredibly sweet of you to offer and your doctor's office too. I'll check with Carol (my sister), but I don't know if she has the documentation readily available or if she would just hand it over to me anyway. She doesn't post on message boards at all. She never has. She thinks I'm loony when I talk about friends I've made on the boards "like they are real people". Ummm... they are real. It's not like we are cartoon characters or something! She just doesn't get that you can form a genuine relationship with someone this way. On the other hand, what the hell does she have to lose at this point, right? I'll see what she has to say. Either way, thank you so much for caring enough to offer.

Hellooooo?

I'm just posting because I think the Losers belong on the first page. I mean have you seen what is on the first page? Seriously, who cares who you are voting for?
