Wasting away again in Loserville-(all welcome to grab an adult beverage and come in)

Hi

I like the sound of your group, do you mind if I pitch a tent in the corner somewhere, I will be quiet...
Welcome!!!!!!

Before I try to brave the Dining board, and I'll admit the prospect frightens me, I thought I would check with you guys first.

Do any of you know what the character dining choices are at Disney World for lunch? I only know one, the Garden Grill at the Land in Epcot. We've done that once and it was nice. I'm hoping to find something new, but if we have to repeat that one I'll live.

Any thoughts?
All I can think of right now is Crystal Palace. I always like it there :)
All right so it is ONLY 9:30 & I have gotten 2 kids up, dressed, off to school, checked a birds nest that the dumb birds decided to build in the top of my kids wooden fort/swingset to make sure there are no eggs in it so we can take it down, gone to work, left work to attend a book fair & art fair at my sons school, back at work, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh is it NEXT Friday yet :headache:
Dumb birds!!!! We always have sparrows trying to build a nest in our gas grill! Talk about DUMB LOL. Or then we had some doves trying to build a nest in the wreath on my front door........

Welcome TD!

RV--when are you going? InSept. they opened Chef Mickey's up for lunch. From what I gather, they only do that during free dining, though.

IAHD--you've been busy! Have you checked out the Walgreen's thread, BTW? I went to Walgreen's this morning after dropping DS off at school. He couldn't ride his bike because he had to bring his poster in today and the teacher told them no rolling or wrinkles or folding. Woorked just fine, but what about all the kids that had to walk in the rain?

MK--hope you get this whole asthma thing worked out today.

That reminds me--I need to get the kids' Dr appts for camp/school sports physicals.

I thought the Liberty Tree Tavern dinner was for the "age 10 and up" crowd now, so I had crossed it off my list. Is it for all ages?

Does Chef Mickey do a lunch? I haven't been to the Contemporary in years, so that would be kinda cool.

I know the Crystal Palace is a buffet, so that would be a good one.

I think Hollywood & Vine has... is it Little Einsteins now? I know they do Playhouse Disney characters, but I'm not sure what show they are focused on these days. That might be an option. I don't know what the menu is like, however.

ETA: We'll be arriving Oct 19th and staying for 5 nights.

Chef Mickey ahs not done lunch any of the time I have been there, so like I said maybe the last breakfast seating???

H&V in May of last year had Jojo, Golaith, Leo and June. Buffet as well, we did breakfast.

Allears usually has up to the date information on dining - so you may want to browse over there before going to the dining board.

Good idea. I hadn't thought of that one. I am using their information on traveling with epilepsy, so I don't know why I didn't think to check there.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I don't have to decide right away. What is the current booking window for ADRs? 90 days out? 120? The character meal is the only advance reservation I make, so I don't remember from trip to trip.

Booking dining is now 180 days out. Which means you are in your 180 days if you are checking in mid October. Get on that phone missy.

Jump in and join us. No need to be quiet.

It is Friday night isn't it? in honour of the fallen and to welcome the new faces I have dug around in the suitcase and found these - enjoy!

I want chocolate. Yummy

With DS6s condition, I don't want to book a breakfast because I don't want a set time that we have to be somewhere in the morning. I prefer to eat in the parks for character meals because we can plan to be at that park on the day of the reservation and not have to go back and forth to another resort. Dinner is usually more expensive, but if there is a reasonably priced dinner at one of the resorts that might work. The boys are at an age where they prefer the main characters (Mickey, Donald, Goofy, etc... or Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, etc...), but I'm open to any and/or all suggestions.

Any thoughts?
Not sure on lunches. But I know sometimes Chef Mickeys has added lunches so you might want to just call and ask. I know when I have called them about ADR they have always been great about helping me out.

The only time I had a meat aversion was when I was pregnant with both kids. It literally made me throw up!
One of my best friends was like that also.

Kellie!

I was asking about you last night while chatting, how are you feeling?

Holy crap! 180 days out now? Here I was thinking I had all the time in the world. :scared1:

Before you know, it, it's gonna be 2 years out and if you don't plan that far in advance you'll be screwed at getting a dining ressie. Crazy, isn't it?

Yes, and where would you like to eat at 6:39 on October 28, 2010 :confused3

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Seriously. I can imagine the conversation I'm going to have with DH over this one. "Honey, we need to book our ADR for the character meal at Disney. I've narrowed it down to these two. Which do you want?"

"That's over 5 months away. How the hell am I supposed to know? Pick one."

Okay, so maybe that isn't such a bad thing. ;)

Hey Losers!

Welcome Diva (can I call you Diva?? Less chance of me misspelling your name that way!) We are a very nice group, just very lazy...well, not lazy, just...ummm...good at putting things off for a very long time...:cutie:

Bavaria, thanks for the liquor, I mean, Chocolate! Yummers!

RVGal--we ate at Crystal Palace in Dec. and loved it! We had ADR's for LTT as well (different night), but had to cancel. I was disappointed, but not disappointed enough to try it when we go in Sept. We will be so short on time that I think DD and I will just do counter service meals and be done with it. We get more time for fun that way! :mickeyjum

Okay, off to troll...I mean, SCROLL...:dance3:

Heck, I can't even decide what I want for dinner tonight, much less next week or 6 months from now!:lmao:

Man, no kidding!!!!!!!!!!!! :lmao:
I hate being so tied down for reservations. I will admit to being a big loser and blowing 1 or 2 off now and then, while there. Just too hard to plan ahead and follow the plan 100%. Please don't tell the dining police!

Wow, you guys are making me nervous with all this ADR talk. I guess this is where I get to chime in and say how glad I am that my boys don't want anything to do with characters. Won't go near em. AND they don't eat, so table service is a huge time and money waster for us. So we grab our food on the run at CS, and no lingering with Pooh or Eeyore.

But I never get the cute pics that you guys get of your little ones hugging Mickey...:sad1:

When DS8 was 4 and DS10 was 6, Spongebob came to one of our local grocery stores. I took em..I swore I was gonna get a cute pic of my boys with SB. So I talked DS4 into standing next to SB, but he wouldn't look at him, and wouldn't get very close. I had to hold DS6 and have someone else take the picture..he was not happy, and that was reflected in the picture.. Lesson learned.

I just finished dinner. I made pork chops & tomato gravy with mashed potatoes and green beans.

::: insert crickets chirping sound effect here :::

I can just hear the "what the hell is pork chops and tomato gravy". Let's just say it is a southern thing and leave it at that.

Breakfast tomorrow will be biscuits with tomato gravy, if you really want to ponder our strange eating habits...

Linty~
Be very wary of the trigger-fingered checkout clerks...they just LOVE to run that belt and don't care if your bread gets squished or not. Jes' sayin'...
