This may be an odd question, but what are the ladies washrooms at the WDW parks like ...clean/dirty?? I try to avoid using public washrooms where possible, but my 3 year old DD likes to use every washroom she sees!! Any thoughts or experiences on this topic. Thanks.

Depends on the washroom, how busy it is, time of day, etc. I never found any that truly disgusted me...but they were certainly very busy and this always results in some bit of unkempt appearance.

For the amount of people using them, I have found them to be quite clean. I'm still one of those lunatic mothers repeating over and over to my kids, "don't touch ANYTHING", but that is just me, lol!

They are amazing clean and empty in the early morning. Some of the bathrooms will get very busy at times, but the CMs do their best to keep them as clean as possible.

I read a trip report that said the restrooms by Columbia Harbor restaurant were nice. I made a note of it so we could hit that one while we are there. I'm not sure what was particularly nice about it, but I guess we'll see.

lmao! That's me too :teeth:
I agree that they do a good job overall. The unisex companion restrooms are even cleaner and great if you have opposite sex children that all need to go at the same time!

Oh- we must be long lost sisters! I too repeat "Do not touch ANYTHING!!!" every 2 seconds to my kids! :teeth:

Whe we were there in January, we never waited for a restroom and they were really clean. Of course that is a slow time of year, but it was nice for us. Dh did have a bad experience with a huge mess in one men's restroom in Epcot, but I think it was just bad timing and they really do seem to keep up.

For keeping busy bathrooms clean...Disney know their s.....Stuff!!! :thumbsup2

Some of these that we have been in have been very dirty (and we don't have a choice not to use them because they are the only place in some parks where DD's wheelchair will fit).

Please keep in mind if you choose to use the Companion Restrooms that there are not that many of them (there are about 6 in each park) and some people don't have the choice of whether to use them or not. At MK, for example, the handicapped stalls in the ladies rooms look large, but are not big enough in most cases to get a wheelchair into the stall and close the door.
They are the only toilet (not the only restroom with many toilets) in some parks that some people with disabilities can use - some examples (I'm sure there are others):
  • a mother with an older son who is autistic and is too old to comfortably come into the ladies room with her
  • someone who can't walk whose wheelchair doesn't fit into the regular handicapped stalls or doesn't fit into the stall in a way that alows them to transfer (so they can't leave it outside the stall and walk in)
  • someone, like my DD, who needs room for a wheelchair and a helper (we don't fit in many of the regular handicapped stalls)
  • an older man or woman who has to assist their spouse/SO who has had a stroke or other situation that makes assistance in the restroom necessary
  • someone with a colostomy or other need that makes being in a bathrrom with a toilet and a sink necessary

If you have other choices, please consider them instead of the Companion Restroom and keep in mind that some people don't have any other choices.

Also, please don't knock on the door if it is occupied (many do have a little sign above the doorknob that changes to say 'OCCUPIED' when the door is locked). When we use the Companion Restroom, we usually get at least one knock on the door, which may mean they just didn't know to look for the occupied sign. Most people are nice, but I have heard people tell their child to keep knocking or trying the door to annoy us so we finish faster - (yes, I have heard a mom who didn't know I could hear her 'stage directing' her child to do that). We are hurrying as fast as we can, but it's very time consuming to transfer someone who can't stand out of a wheelchair, help them to undress, etc, etc. When someone keeps kncoking, it takes us longer because it upsets DD and she can't relax.

All I have to say is take Clorox wipes and post-its :) The last couple of trips we were on it always seemed like there was pee on the seat. And yes - I know the toilets flush violently and splash but I know the difference between yellow urine and clean toiletwater (well as clean as toilet water can be). My DD will be a couple of months shy of 3 when we go and although I have been training her that the toilets flush loud I will still take my post-its to put over the sensor so they don't flush on her mid-use.
