We are leaving tomorrow afternoon for a 4 night stay in DC. Does anyone have any tips? Advice? Dh and I are going with a 3yo, 6yo and 9yo. Definately hitting the National Zoo, other than that we are not totally sure. Thanks!

Melissa

Well, we came home Sunday night. We had a great time. Went to the National Zoo..kids loved it, but it was so hilly. We rented a double stroller and had all three kids in it. At one point I could barely push it up a hill!!

Spy Museum...geared for teenagers and adults. Kids were pretty bored.

Air and Space museum..Kids loved looking around, but didn't really "get" the interactives.

They really like walking around the monuments and memorials. Also spent some evenings in Georgetown. That was really alot of fun.

Thanks for all of the advice.

bring your sunscreen! it's been pretty hot here this week. :)

Take a trip to the Natural History Museum and the Air and Space Museum. Bring lots of water... it's hot!!! :)

Went last summer with DD (7 at at the time). She loved DC and wants to move there.

We went to:
Air & Space (she wasn't impressed)
National History (loved it)
Natural History (loved it)
National Gallery (LOVED it!!! went back twice to the modern galleries to see the Remington exhibit and the Calder works)
Arlington National Cemetary (loved it)
trolley tour (liked some of it...was too crowded)
Lincoln monument (loved it)
Washington Monument (too crowded for her liking)
National Zoo (okay...we have a good one near us so it wasn't a big deal to her)
Rode the Metro everywhere (she's a veteran subway rider and was quite impressed with the metro)
Boat ride on the Potomac out of Georgetown (loved it)
Canal boat ride (loved it)
Nightime cab ride throughout the city (LOVED IT...thought the city glowed at night)

She enjoyed trying different restaurants each night and just roaming around the city. We also stopped at a big cultural festival running on the Mall while we were there...that was great fun.

aprincessmom...Wow!! Great list! We will definately try some of it. Hopefully my kids will have a great time too. They are used to either WDW vacations, or Camping on the St Lawrence Seaway. This will be quite a change of pace for us.

I will definitely pack water bottles. Should be a hot weekend! Thanks everyone!
