Well, first the car broke down and now the washing machine has died too. Anyone recommend a good machine or a good place to buy a new machine?

We want a 1600 spin, 7kg capacity (or thereabouts) and either silver or black in colour. We had a Zanussi and would have another. If you know a good/cheap retailer, please let me know!

They say these things come in 3's...hopefully the next thing to break down will be something cheap!

Having watched Watchdog last night I'd steer clear of getting an Indesit Moon - lots of problems with mild forming in them and not being capable of running a maintanance wash of 90 degrees.
We have a Bosch, not had any complaints. The odd problem we had with it their engineers came out promptly and fixed it as part of the guarentee :)

:goodvibes

I buy Bosch too and have been very happy with them ~ when I had to call their engineers out once when a machine was about 3 months out of the guarantee they didn't charge. :thumbsup2

Thanks both! Will check out the Bosch machines.:goodvibes

They are not cheap, but I would recommend a Miele. The higher price is worth it, IMO, as you get a 5 year (or sometimes even 10 year) guarantee.

I've had bosch and found them to be good but last time decided to splash out (get it, washing machine...sigh) and get a miele, its really good and I got a 10 year guarantee with it too :)

When pricing up machines, check out Next Electricals - there is a link from the main Next website.

We have bought a fridge freezer and washing machine from them and they were cheaper than a lot of others.

I bought a freezer about a month ago from appliancesonline .co.uk . I had several e-mails confirming the purchase and then 4 phonecalls. I think they offer quite a few dates with free delivery or you could have next day.

They came up cheapest at the time but there may be some good Easter deals around elsewhere.

We have a Zanussi and after the intial 12 months took out their repair warranty and I have to say they have been fantastic. It costs me £7 a month an dthey come out and repair everytime within in a few days and I have even had 2 new machines from it because they couldnt fix the issue. I defo reccomend the zanussi Cover if you cant afford teh Bosch or Miele Machines.

Thanks! Don't think I can afford a Miele - want to spend less than £600. Looked at an LG, but don't know anyone who has one. I really want a black one but Zanussi hasn't got a black model. Saw a reasonable Whirlpool one but not sure about that make either.:confused3 Will keep looking. Checking out applianceonline and Next.:thumbsup2

I like my Hotpoint Ultima - it's getting old now but has outlasted all other machines we've bought. Try a 'shopbot' for comparisons. We bought a freezer from appliances online.co.uk and were very happy with the very efficent service. Another good place to check out are supermarket sites on line (like Tesco and Sainsbury) - they often have good deals on white (or black in your case ) goods.

Thanks - I'm trying to choose between

and

Just can't decide.:confused3

It's always hard trying to make that final decision - why is it then when you have a choice of two, both are in stock but when you knpw exactly what you want that one model isn't in stock?

I'm not really a Zanussi fan myself but that model has a faster spin and more programmes. On the other hand the LG has a bigger wash load - see I share your dilemma.

Maybe it could come down to whether you want black or grey, or failing that just go for the cheapest and save the rest of the money towards a holiday!

I am the most indecisive person in the world.:rotfl: I finally went for the Zanussi as it was cheaper and had a faster spin. It's being delivered on Saturday. Now, if I could only decide which satnav to buy...Garmin ot Tomtom:confused3:rotfl:

We've used a Garmin for many years and it's served us very well :thumbsup2

we have a TomTom but I hate the bloomin' thing! Not because it's a TomTom, I just don't like Sat Nav's. My DH loses all common sense when he's got it on, I swear he'd drive over the cliffs if the sat nav said carry on straight ahead! We used it in Orlando last time and went back and forth over the same road 4 times - and as it was a toll road it cost us a dollar each time for the privilege of going the wrong way! Turns out he'd input the villa address incorrectly. When we (eventually) found the villa again, I found a map and made him study it - we didnt get lost anymore!

If you really can't decide between 2 models then I would go for the cheaper and add some more pennies to your holiday funds. Well done on deciding on the washing machine!
