I'll be staying at SSR in a couple weeks, are the washing machines in the rooms high effiency or are they regular washing machines? I want to bring extra detergent.

Thanks,

I was wondering about those Purex Sheets and now I think I'll give them a try in October!

We took the Purex sheets on the trip we've just returned from. It's what we'll take every time from now on. They were so convenient.

That's what I was planning on taking, but I didn't want to use something that might break the washing machine.

They are the (non-HE) stacked machines. I was quite surprised how many clothes I could put into the washer. I thought it was a smaller unit, but I was able to wash nice-size loads without overstuffing it.

I will be trying out those Purex detergent sheets too. They also serve as the dryer sheet as well, so now I don't have to pack those.

just be prepared to run the washer during the day if someone is sleeping in the livingroom. They cause quite a racket. My 18 year old son compares the sound to "a twenty minuite train wreck".

oh definately, we wouldn't run it while we were trying to sleep!

If you are in a studio, you have to use the washer/dryer at the end of the hallway. It was usually open when we needed it. It was my first time with a high efficiency washer/dryer. I had to ask my wife about it and, aside from knowing that they exist, she wasn't so sure about it either. I thought it was broken at first. I had no clue how much detergent to put in.

I don't think washer and dryers are at the ends of hallways at SSR. I know that there is an area to use washer/dryers by the quiet pool in Congress Park and I am sure they exist in other areas of the resort, but not in hallways.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I agree. If you don't have a washer/dryer in your room (studios) then there are laundry rooms to be used by guests. I haven't seen the one in Congress Park, but there is a laundry facility near the Carriage House, in the building where you can rent the bikes.

Whoops...I am confusing resorts...I was referring to BWV. I am at SSR now but was at BWV last week. Sorry!

We just got back Sunday and the laundry facilities are at each of the quiet pools for people in the studios. We did two loads of cloths washed and dryed. the wash machines didn't need quarters to operate. The dryers had slots for quarters to go in but when I just pushed the coin tray in (with out quarters) the dryers turned on free of charge. Not sure if they are always that way but the ones in the Paddocks pool area were! Thanks Mickey!:thumbsup2

Laundry facilities are free for DVC members at every DVC resort. At shared resorts, there is usually a separate facility just for DVC members. For example, at Animal Kingdom, Boardwalk, Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge, you need to make sure you're in the DVC laundry room, and not the one for other resort guests. If you're in the wrong room, you'll need quarters for the machines. At dedicated resorts like Saratoga Springs and Old Key West, the laundry rooms are all free.

In many cases, they buy commercial washers and dryers that have coin slots. However, these are disabled. (They'll probably gladly take your quarters if you put them in, but you don't need them.)

At SSR, a laundry room is located at each pool except the one in the Treehouse area. The High Rocks Spring (main) pool has a laundry room next to the community hall. Congress Park, Grandstand, and Paddocks quiet pools also each have a laundry room in the buildings with the restrooms. Because the Carousel doesn't have a quiet pool, it also doesn't have a laundry room. There are no studios in the Treehouse Villas area, so there is no laundry room at that pool.
