Washing dishcloths

I save up the kitchen wash cloths and dishtowels and just do a small load, I don't like to put "icky" items in with "non-icky" items. I know it all gets clean but I'm OCD like that! :)

Yes, this is how I feel, little bits of food/crumbs, grease, etc that get stuck on the dishcloth going in with my other stuff, ugh. It does take me awhile to save up enough for a load so I do have quite a bit of washcloths & kitchen hand towels. As far as underwear, I wash all underwear together with towels or sheets. Street clothes are always washed separately from every thing else.

To me nothing is "ickier" than underwear.
Unless there's poop in it, I don't find underwear icky. Come to think of it, there's really nothing that goes into my wash (colors OR whites) that I consider icky. It all gets washed in the right temp and I use soap. What more is there (besides bleach every now and again)? :confused3

Dishtowels & dishclothes get thrown in hot water with the regular towels, cotton underwear and sheets. They all go in dirty, they all come out clean.

Towels (all kinds) get washed together. But that's more of a convenience thing...it's a nice fast easy load to sort and fold and there are always plenty of towels to be washed, so there's always a load and I always have clean hand towels available. I figure anything going in "dirty" sure as heck better be coming out clean, no matter what else it's in there with.

I don't bleach anymore. Cutting down wherever I can on chemicals like bleach. Using vinegar more when cleaning.

I don't use dishtowels/dishrags, just paper towels. They just seem like a breeding ground for bacteria. I cut up old T-Shirts for dusting and throw them away when they get dirty.

Socks and undies are always separate from clothes. They do seem more icky than the rest and get a load of their own.

Some of the dish towels get stained after a while. And when they do, I use those for more dirty cleaning, and use the whiter ones for light cleaning. Once they come out of the wash, they're all clean. And a lot better than paper towels. Although cleaning up something like a dog accident... that's done with paper towels and all thrown out.

I also like buying those boxes of painters rags. They're nice for needing something a lot stronger than a paper towel, but still cheap enough to throw out if it gets too gross. If not, they'll get tossed with the rags until they do.

I throw them in as I use them. Then they just get washed with the next load that happens to go in. It all comes out clean IMO.

I am the same way. I don't think I even own a dishrag. When I clean the counters I use 409 and paper towels. I do have a couple of kitchen towels for drying my hands (although more often than that I use a paper towel to do that too). Those towels go in the laundry with the rest of the towels.

In a batch of whatever else requires hot water and bleach..:goodvibes

Dish cloths (sponges, etc.) can get pretty yucky, but the trick is to use a fresh new one every day, not the same dirty one for several days. I'll even go through several in a day if I"m doing some heavy cleaning. I have about twenty clean ones on hand at any given time, so I never run out. I bought serveral packs of good quality wash cloths at Costco for less than three jumbo packs of paper towels. a stack of clean dish coths takes up space, but way less space than 1 jumbo pack of paper towels, let alone three.

Definitely a in a load of their own. See my tag. All will be explained. ;)

Me too. I save all dish towels and cloths for a load of their own, and wash them every week or two. No way I could wash them with underwear.
