Anybody out there love their washer & dryer? I need a new dryer. We have may tag right now, but it's not the old reliable type. Would love to hear of where you found your great deals. Thanks!

Sorry I can't recommend a dryer that I love, but I can tell you to make sure it has an end-of-cycle buzzer. Don't laugh, several years ago, I wanted to get a cheap dryer with no frills. Well, the darn thing has been wonderfully reliable, but it is sooooo cheap, that when it's finished drying, it just stops, with no noise to let you know!!! Now, THAT'S cheap! :rotfl2:

Love Love Love our Whirlpool Cabrio set. It doesn't have many "frills" but it's a lot more energy efficient than the ones that came with our place (circa 1970's washer dryer set). I would also recommend Whirlpool Duet my parents love it, but it's a little bit fancier. We bought our Cabrio set last year during the Energy Star Tax Free Weekend (Which is actually THIS weekend). Saved about 60 bucks total on tax. Lowes is doing 10 percent off if you sign up online for their rewards emails.

We have a Maytag washer and Amana dryer. We love both and they are now over 9 years old. Both are oversized so we can get a lot in.

I can tell you what we Don't like. It's our Bosch pair. Those were supposed to be the "Top of the line" the year we bough them, and although they get clothes clean. I just don't think they use enough water to get them rinsed well, they get out of balance to easily and if they are out of balance and stop spinning, you have to start over with another wash.. stoopid~!. Unless they have really re- done their washing products, I won't be buying another Bosch.:hippie:

I can give you another "don't like". We have a year old Whirlpool HE Washer. I absolutely hate it. The low water levels don't clean well and it's had problems from the beginning. The repair man has been out 4 times starting at the 8 month mark and it still sounds like it's going to take off and fly every time it spins. We finally decided we were just going to wait until it dies, take it out in the back field, use it for target practice then go buy a plain old regular washer with knobs that regulate the water levels, wash cycle and water temps. No more HE washer for me!

I bought the Maytag Centential washer/dryer. It's a top loading washer. Don't like them at all. If you use warm water it put in some hot then adds some cold. The water isn't "blended" to make warm. There is no soak so I need to stop it manually for that. The dryer is large, and the clothes are well spun after washing, but even on the highest setting the clothes need anothe minute or two to completely dry. Would not recommend at all. Maytag is not what it used to be. Very disappointed.:sad2:

I love my Kenmore HE washer and matching dryer. We got the pedastals so they save my back and I have some extra storage. I previously had a top-loading Kenmore HE washer and went with a front-loader HE when I needed to replace it. There was nothing wrong with the old dryer but we decided to get a matching pair in RED! I made my choices from reading Consumer Reports Online and every other review I could find. It is important that the machines be balanced properly, which installers sometimes do not do, and if you have pedastals, that you put the recommended amount of weight in them. If you get an HE machine, use the recommended amount of detergent (less than you think) and make sure the tub and soap dispensers dry between loads to avoid buildup and mold.

Good luck!

Great replies so far. Thanks for the help.

Had a wonderful Maytag set that lasted 18 years! Just replaced in April with LG front loader washer and dryer.....love them! So much less water softener salt and detergent used! No complaints with them at all! :)

HATE our Kenmore HE washer. Doesn't wash well. Soap doesn't get rinsed off and it has broke down after 4 months. We called for repair and it will take them 4 days to come to our house to get the water out of the tub because it will not drain out. That will surely be a stinky mess come Wednesday. We purchased it in June 2011.

I had the old Maytags that lasted for many years. When they went I started shopping and went to big box stores, small appliance retailers etc. What I heard over and over again is that the Whirlpool brand (which owns Maytag now, Amana and Kitchen Aide) is not what it used to be. Expect those appliances to last maybe five years. Eventually, I bought a top load Speed Queen washer and dryer. I couldn't be happier. They are very simple, reasonably priced machines with a great warranty. They are nothing fancy, almost look out of date and remind me of the Maytags from 25 years ago. I expect to be using these machines for a long time.

I love love love my Whirlpool Duet w/d. I have owned them for 2 yrs (got them at Lowes) and they do a great job!! I have no problems with rinsing or with clothes not getting clean. I can't agree enough about using the proper HE soap...and using very little of it. A bottle of laundry soap lasts me forever! I'm also very neurotic about leaving the washer door open when I'm not using it. The front washers seal SO tightly they get stinky if you leave them shut all the time. I just stick a rolled up washcloth in the door so it can't close all the way.

My complaints....the loads are HUGE so when it comes time to fold it takes so long! I do hate leaving the washer door open....but I've gotten used to it. The washer spins so fast the clothes get tangled....but they are almost dry before they even get to the dryer! (Mine makes the jet engine sound like a previous poster talked about too. But it's not for very long and the rest of the cycle is very quiet).

My loves....the loads are HUGE! :) The clothes really do get clean. The dryer is fast! I can fit my king size comforters and quilts in and they're not too tightly packed. I can wash bathroom rugs and they actually get clean. Soap lasts me forever.

My favorite thing about them...my husband talked me into getting the color I really wanted, red. I wasn't going to because it was so bold. But the laundry room is the room everyone enters our house through because no one ever goes to the front door. And now I have a really cool laundry room with a really cool red w/d that they see! (If you HAVE to see that first). My kitchen walls are the same red as well as the curtains in the family room....so it all blends!
