Just wanted to share a word of warning. We are on our last leg of our 3 week vacation. We stayed at BWV, Jambo, Kidani, and now BLT. At Kidani we found dirty dishes in the cupboard and just now at BLT DW took a glass out of the cupboard and there was a yellow liquid in it.

We always load everything into the dishwasher when we first get to a new room, but our findings this trip confirm that this is a requirement, not a option.

My adult kids always make fun of me because I wash eveything as soon as we get in the room. Sometimes everything looks perfectly fine and other times I too have found dirty dishes or glasses. Better safe than sorry!

This is actually a "streamlining in response to owner input to enhance the ownership experience."

Management has conducted an extensive survey and has determined that most of us don't actually use the dishes.

This new procedure of not washing dirty dishes is one of the proactive initiatives that has saved enough water and diswashing liquid to make Disney the third greenest company in the USA.

As an added side-benefit, it saves time and gives our members more time in the theme parks because it eliminates the need to dirty the dishes yourself!

You're welcome!

Sincerely,

Jim Lewis

So last weekend, when I pulled put a couple mugs from the cupboard and saw they had misc. white ... er... stuff on the bottom, instead of saying "eww, these all need washing!", my response should have been: "Oh, look! Thanks Disney!"

.... OK, made the adjustment in my memory to be sure to call housekeeping to compliment them next time.

I'm one of those people who always washing all the glasses, dishes & utensils as soon as we arrive. On more than one occasion I've found dirty glasses when I've taken one out of the cupboard. One time I took a glass out & it had lipstick on it :scared1:
Another time when I was making breakfast I took the frying pan out & it still had scrambled eggs on it!!! I for one really don't wanna get sick while I'm "home"

I've been doing the same for years. My mom taught me that when we rented a cabin during summer vacations. She always spent the first hours of vacation washing the kitchen supplies, and bedsheets. She didn't trust that the previous renters had left everything as they found it, clean. My Aunt owned the cabin, and it was spotless after she stayed. I don't wash the bedsheets...LOL.

We always wash glasses/dishes or whatever we need before using them and after using them.

I have no idea who cleaned them before and how they were cleaned :)

I would just like to add that one of the main reasons we joined DVC was the furnished kitched. After spending a week eating out at Disney, we felt gross. Don't get me wrong, I like eating out occasionally just not every meal. I would think other members would feel the same and not agree with the survey mentioned above. Regardless, dirty dishes are unacceptable.

And here I was thinking I was the only "crazy person" who ran a full dishwasher before I unpacked.:confused3

You do report that it was necessary for you to clean all of the dishes upon checkin? This situation is really unacceptable service.

I use the dishes right out of the cabinet. Unless we find something that looks like it needs a quick rinse. No need to wash everything. I might not even use everything.

I was beginning to think that I was the only non-germaphobe here. If I find something that needs cleaning, I wash it. If it looks clean, I don't.

I agree! If it looks dirty, I'll put it in the dishwasher for washing later and grab another one.

A few years ago, DH and I spent a week in a large rented vacation home with a few other couples. On our last morning I saw a guy in our group take a glass out of the cupboard, get a drink of water, then put the glass in the dish drainer without washing it. He became embarrassed when he turned around and realized I saw him do it. I just stared at him in disbelief, wondering if he had been doing that all week!

It made me realize that some people have some pretty inconsiderate and disgusting habits and while I don't like wasting water, I also don't want to be using glassware or utensils that may not have been washed after being in someone else's mouth.

I've always put everything in the dishwasher as soon as we get in. :thumbsup2

I cannot imagine what would possess someone to put dirty dishes back in the cupboard. I just assumed that the dishwasher did not do the job properly. However, it still makes me wonder why anyone would unload the dishwasher and seeing that some items are dirty, still put them back in the cupboard.:confused3:sad2:

Same here.
