This is my first trip to WDW. I've heard some of the resorts have wash cloths folded like animals. Is this true. Anyone have Pictures? Which resorts have they been found in?

Thanks :wave2:

Hi! Welcome to the Dis!

Here on the Dis we actually call them towel animals. I don't have any pics but we have gotten them during all 3 of our stays at Pop Century.

We were just at CBR this month for 9 days. On our arrival day, there was a towel animal waiting for us in our room (a little bunny). We got a "towel doll" I guess you could call it, later in our trip.

It tends to be random as to who gets them. Some people get them often, some never.

They are cute & the kids get excited when we come back to the room & find them.

Our first towel animal was at AllStarMusic. A very cute swan. Then I got one while staying at BWV, by myself no less!! That one was very surprising. Then we had one waiting for us upon checkin at POP in mid-May. But that's only 3 of them out of more than 10 visits.
It can be very hit or miss, even within one resort. In August we stayed at POP and there was one section of our bldg that had a ton of the towel animals in the windows. But, our section had nary a one! Depends on the particular housekeeper.

we received this one at POFQ in January

There seems to be no pattern to who gets them; it's most likely solely dependent on the housekeeper. Folks report getting them with comparable frequency: at both deluxe and value resorts; both with and without tipping; both families with children and without.

Please don't expect them, and if you have little ones, don't let them expect them either. Could be setting up for disappointment. :guilty:

Our first trip, 4 of shared a room. We got them everyday. Last trip we had 2 separate rooms. The young adult males got them in their room everyday, but DS10 and I never once got them. He was disappointed. I played it off to it was the older boys birthday trip, the Disney folks must somehow know that, and was making it a bit more special for them, just like they had for the younger one the trip before.

After staying a full week each at All Star Sports, Dixie Landings, Coronado Springs and POFQ, we got one towel animal, one time, at POFQ.

Wow what a creative person to make all these cute ones! Did she have time to clean your room too? LOL

We have had a couple in the bathroom at POFQ holding our toothbrushes, sometimes our kids stuffed animals have been aranged in cute poses.

Here is one I received at POP. The mousekeeper told us we could take it home :thumbsup2

After more than 15 stays we finally got a dog and on owl at WL along with a shirt and tie. My DH and DD's did not know that they were called towel animals. I guess I must have kept it a secret from them. My youngest would not let us take them home until we checked with our mousekeeper Sally who said they were her gift to us and that we could take them home. They are not adorning my bookcases in the family room. I just hope the kids don't start expecting them every time.

What are some of your experinces with leaving a request for one by mousekeeping? I would love my son to get one when we stay at POP in Oct. Thanks.

It took us about 15 trips as well (and we've stayed at values, mods and deluxes)

But last week we finally got some towel mickeys (nothing extravagant like some of the photos), but I was sooo happy to have finally received them :)

This was at the AKL by the way...

WOW, some creative towel creations!

Just curious, are you allowed to take these home? We didn't start getting these in our rooms until last year. We left them in the room for the next guests to enjoy. I didn't even think to ask mousekeeping. Of course, since we are usually staying DVC we rarely see them so we would have had to have tracked them down.

Just curious.

If you can catch your mousekeeper, they may. You could try leaving a tip for "mousekeeping" in an envelope, with a "Please, make a towel animal for us?" on the front, but I still wouldn't expect it.

1) All housekeepers are trained how to make towel animals.
2) Some do it as normal course, most don't.
3) If you ask, you can usually get some.
4) Leave a request with a good DAILY tip, your chances improve.
5) Towel animals are never guaranteed.
6) YOU MAKE A REQUEST AND TAKE YOUR CHANCES.

Just curious.
I was curious too, especially since the housekeepers have been giving inconsistent information, so I asked WDW directly:
Dear Brian,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

Although we appreciate your interest, please know the towel animals provided by housekeeping are for the guest's enjoyment during their visit with us.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to your visit.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Ronda

It seems that some housekeepers are much more inclined to make them than others. Not surprising since some housekeepers are just more inclined to say 'good morning' than others also!!!
I've never thought to request one..not that big of a deal. I just take my chances.
As to whether or not to keep them....I've given this a ton of thought. I've had three made for me on different occasions. Two of the three are sitting on my bureau as we speak (so to speak). The other was my 'first' and we left it behind by accident.
But, if I were to receive more than one on one trip, I would choose the one I liked the best and take just that one...no more than one.
I love the one I got at BWV last Dec...a little shampoo bottle holder critter!!!

Love the ones from CSR....no wonder you love it there so much Buzz!!!! What creative CMs!!!

Not arguing the point, because if people want to keep them they will. So I'm not getting this thread going in the direction of other "iffy" subjects.

But anyway, when asking WDW through an email what is right or what is wrong, isn't it simply just another CM answering a question? The only difference being there is printed proof of what this ONE CM said. I read all these threads saying well this CM said this and that CM said that, but asking via email isn't it the same thing? I am just really curious? :confused3 People seem to get different answers all the time from CM's, regardless if it's in person or on the phone, would it not be the same here?
