Just watching Nightline and a piece on one of Rockwell's Four Freedoms, this one, Freedom From Want.

How was your day, 'traditional' or 'different'?

Traditional in that we had the same wackos in attendance that we have every year.

Dysfunctional family holiday Hell, gotta love it......... :teeth:

Next year we are headed south for the Holidays. Mark my words.

Pretty traditional - formal sitdown dinner with turkey and all the fixings. Small gathering with just my in-laws, BIL & his wife and us.

Snoopy are you related to us? ;)
My MIL tried to give my 10 month old DD an olive today.  She did the same thing with my DS when he was 6 months. She says "oh I was just letting them lick it."

Geez, that is just wrong on so many levels. I know you must have wanted to slap her.

My MIL was a nut too, she passed away this year. In my own weird way I loved the woman, but I had to say, it was one less nut at the table today..............

Snoopy, that reminds me of one of my best friend's favorite sayings.......she says that her family fell out of the nut tree and hit every branch on the way down!!:yo-yo:

I can relate!!!

Dan, we didn't have the Rockwell table scene.......adults sat around the dining room table, kids sat around the card table in the living room watching The Santa Clause........that is until we remembered Green Bay was playing and made them turn the channel. Considering how badly they lost we should have let the kids watch the movie!! :o

We had a nice meal and good company though!

<font color=navy>I haven't had a traditional Thanksgiving since my mom passed away in '95, but today was nice. Went to church, had some fun with some friends, and later went to my brother's for dinner. He made a turkey, and it came out yummy. :)

So, it was a nice day, today. :sunny:

Happy Thanksgiving

Well, it was pretty traditional, considering the nutty family I have. We all sat down, at one of two tables. DS switched from kid's table to adults about mid-way thru the meal. ;) Mom was wearing her Brett Favre jersey  and, my brother wearing his Miami Dolphins jersey (Marino?). (They would be today's nuts. ::yes:: ) Then we played cards, always fun and full of laughter. :p

Much to be thankful for!

I cooked a traditional Butterball Turkey with all the fixin's for my family and it was very nice. We conversed afterwards and I have to say it was one of the best holiday meals ever. But I do have sharp memories of past Thanksgiving dinners where my sister and her hubby were fueding with dad and the evening did not go well. One year we were all in tears and another year at her house things heated up and she told us all to get the **** out of her house!!! Things have settled down, that is a good thing :D

It was pretty traditional. We don't all sit at a table like that though. The small table was covered with food and you got what you wanted and found a seat somewhere to eat.

Afterwards, the kids made cigarbox purses, or whatever and then christmas baskets. I made a cute little basket, all by myself. lol

Traditional I ended up having 14 for dinner, same old dinner arguments-discussions, older kids tormented the younger.

I cleaned and cooked for days. Today it looks like a tornato ran through the house.

Don't you just love the Traditional American Family. When I look at NR prints of TAF's I wonder if they were in his wish dreams. They are all smiling, quitely just waiting for the turkey. Yea right!

DH's first words this morning were " Are they all gone" now thats traditional. lol.

Ours was pretty traditional except we had to do buffet line because there was so many of us... but we all sat at the tables for a nice lunch....45 in one house what closeness we had... a lot of laughs, a lot of tears for loved ones gone... how sad....

Goodness, you took the words right out of my mouth!

Neat stories here, some so familiar over the years. I think we have experienced them all.

Ours was mostly traditional, dinner at one of Maie's cousins. Buffet style serving, the usual turkey and all, then sitting around the big dining room table, dog looking for handouts. :) Football all day in the background, some Christmas music. After dessert time (I skipped but for coffee :)), cousin Debbie pulls out all the Christmas decorating boxes and everyone joins in helping her put up and decorate her two Christmas trees (living room and family room) and put up other things around the house. A neat tradition.

Thanks for sharing your days here, hope eveyone has a great day after and a great weekend. :wave2:

Relatively normal

Church in the am.

Visited a couple friends and then DD's godmother (no food, just saying hello)

Then to mom's for dinner. Ate around the TV watching Dallas.

Somewhat quiet since nephew was sick and could not pick on (affectionately) DD. They are the only two children.

Talked about what everyone wants for Christmas.

DD staying at Grandmas for a long weekend.

:D Ours was pretty traditional. I made the turkey and all the fixings and set it out buffet style. Most sat around the dining room except for dh and his brother who had tv trays in the living room since there was no more room at the table. The poor things were forced to watch the football game while they ate ;) . There were a few nuts in attendance but they usually mean well. And, hey, next time we do a dysfunctional family member thread I've got a doozy to share with ya ::yes:: . Overall, a great day.

That picture could be my family. We all get along - not a trouble-maker amongst us! We celebrated 3 birthdays. It was the first Thanksgiving for my youngest brother's fiance. My niece was here with my Mom's first great-grandchld. And all of my Mom's kids were here. We are truly blessed!

The dinner was the tradional turkey/stuffing meal, but any information over and above that..............I choose not to discuss. :(

I don't think we've ever had meal that looked like that. All 4 of my parents offspring were in town (my brother lives in Cali and surprised my mom). We all have 4 very different personalities and putting us together is kind of like a little chemistry experiment.

Add in my grandmother and her boyfriend, my cousins and their various children, and it was quite an interesting day.
