Was this a mistake??

....

when my wife attempted to make our first revs. , was when the
girl told her to try next year. however, my wife felt she was trying
to make a suggestion because there were nothing available.
i don't think she understood what that meant. and based on
the problems they are having with blt revs.

I am wondering exactly what reservation you were unable to make at 11 months? A specific room type or any room at all?

hi , i saw your nice pictures on the blt's rooms board.

did they charge you a mk view? did you request a different room
after your original request?

someone else posted disney made an adjustment. [ i would think they
would also do the same for you]

when we saw the model, we made "it" our first request, this is
the view we are expecting....so our lil' princess: can watch the fireworks
in the tub.

very insightful. yes, it is only the tip of the iceberg, of all the problems
..we have had. [ my wife was very upset & so was the manger that he
called her on her cel-phone. ] however, since disney is in the people
business, & people make mistakes, isn't the issue for us. we are trying
to figure out the source & seek problem solving.

the killer point for us..is our vacation times. [ it is why we passed in 2002].
we must scheduled a year in advance and if we canceled , then
we can't rescheduled. we also brought enough points for the room
we desired & the times we wanted to go.

i see you own @ a.k.? we came real close buying there but decided
on blt.

We did the DVC tour on our honeymoon and again on our last DCL cruise. You sound just like me with the spreadsheet and the emotional decision. We ended up buying a resale SSR that is still pending. The THV pushed me over the edge.

I was feeling very bummed about our decision all last night. The emotional part of me that just wanted to be a DVC member was hard to ignore! :)

But we ran all the numbers in a large spreadsheet comparing costs of DVC vs Delux vs Moderate hotels and various vacation lengths, and really talked about what we felt our vacation habits were going to be for the next 10 years or so...
I know we made the right decision by cancelling for now, and we may look into a resale at one of the WDW resorts in the future. Right now given our lifestyle (short notice planning) and our desire to travel not just to disney but other places as well, makes owning DVC not quite as attractive as we thought.
It's certainly better to be sure and you should have canceled until you know what's best. I still suspect DVC will be a good choice for you, esp a SSR, once you get enough info. Even OKW and SSR though will not save you money over the values but what they will do is give you more for not much more cost. A studio at SSR/OKW with a resale purchase should be about break even compared to a moderate. It will vary a little with time of year and weekend weekday options but not as much now as it would have 2 years ago. I'd still recommend that you give it a try with a stay at one of those options in the future and see if a reconsideration is appropriate.
