On the legal front, most websites have legal disclaimers that declare that the business is not responsible for typographical errors or other such incorrect data in the site. Here are some example:
Expedia:
Our own Dreams Unlimited:
And From Starwood.com themselves:
There have been a couple examples of errors in on-line reservation systems giving out very attractive, but erroneous, prices. An airline's web site recently, due to a programming error, tickets to Europe for something like $25. The error was found and the reservations were cancelled with no liability to the airline. I guess the moral of this story is... It doesn't hurt to double check a reservation by phone.
For that matter, even reservations taken over the phone or in person are not legally binding agreements or even a guarantee of a room or ticket until payment is accepted.
