Jaws is the scariest ride in USF, IMO. Well, that's what I tell people. ;)

I think you hit it right on the head. Now that Kong is gone all they have to replace is Earthquake and this and USF will be crap free ;)

WHAT?! I think Earthquake is great!!!! A LOT better than Kong and Jaws. What was funny was, Jaws wasn't at all scary but a couple things caught be by surprise (must have started dozing off) and I screamed like crazy whenever something happened! I made a fool outta myself. :p

We visited Universal in 1990, 1992 and 1995 - each time Jaws was closed. We were so excited in 2000 when it was actually up and running. Queued for 45 mins or more (very cramped and most frustrating queueing area of all time!). Finally got on the ride and found it a real let down and a bit of a joke.

However, we tried it again a couple of weeks ago and found it much more enjoyable. Perhaps that's down to the fact that we only had to wait 5 or 10 minutes.

I thought Jaws was completely unscary but we loved it because it was Jaws and that was the scary film of our childhood:p
My youngest DD age 5 will not go on after the first time. She is absolutely terrified of Jaws and cries if we go near this attraction. Strange thing is she will ride TOT 10 times in a row and is not scared of any rollercoasters. UNLIKE HER MOM!

Ha ha... Jaws is funny/scary - my DD8 was on the side of the boat when Jaws comes right up.. she climbed over me, over the seat - the people in the row behind grabbed her and helped her and she slid in with them LOL

It all happened so fast - but she was in the centre of the row behind me for the rest of the ride.

We went on it again several times - but she won't sit on that side again... it's suppost to be corny.. especially when you pull inside the boat house for safety :)

>>^..^<<

Depending on your "captain", Jaws can be funny or not, but scary, I don't think so...

I have seen some kids freak out, but if it really was meant to scare people to death I doubt that they'd put them out in the middle of water without restraints.

:p Good point!!

I suppose a lot of people's affection for the Jaws ride is based on the nostalgia they feel for the movie. Personally I find it very "kitsch" but I appreciate that - and the Captain you get does make a lot of difference to the experience.

My advice to anyone who doesn't think it's that scary - do it at night! The darkness ramps up that fear factor, even if you know every line in the script and every watery splash that's headed your way!

yeah the movie was great but the ride was terrible. our captain had like no emotion. hes like "...o no. theres a shark."-lol.

Jaws is alot better if you ride it at night. Not really scary for an adult but not as hokey either.

The only "Scary" thing about Jaws is the fact that you could lose arm hairs on the fires and explosions (after they are singed off)!! We always fight over who should have to sit on the side next to the big explosions! Makes for some great memories, though! ;)

Can no one get in touch with his/her inner child anymore?

Sheesh! It's a theme park, not the Spanish Inquisition. (Now that's scary!)

The scariest thing at Universal is not Jaws, the Hulk, or even Dr. Doom's Fearfall. It is...

...Barney!

:)

Hey, I love Earthquake!

I agree that Jaws isn't scary but it was fun. We had a couple of good pilots though.

I was scared on Jaws! he looks really yucky all bloody and fried! :p I screamed everytime the shark came up! LOL he just looks gross! lol

the ride is funny though...I laugh everytime I get off of it

but this girl took the coolest picture with Jaws out in front! we were walking by and she stuck her legs in the rope in his mouth and was hanging upside down! it looked really cool!

"The Inquisition what a show. The Inquisition here we go. We know you're wishin' that we'd go away. But the Inquisition's here and It's here to stay!!!!!!!!!!"

Actually the Inquisition is a pretty funny song and dance number ;)

(If you don't get that joke just rent History of the World Part 1)

I have no problem getting in touch with my inner child. But I just don't think there is anything that will do that on Jaws. Maybe Shrek 4-D will be a step in the right direction.

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition!:p

Sorry...

Back on topic...

I just play the ride for laughs. Besides that, I've been going on it since I was in my single digits so it's partially for the memories as well.

It's different things to different people, I suppose.

Sincerely,
