Seeing Julie Andrews is one of the crazy things I used to always go. When I first heard she was making an appearance at DL, my first thought was to go. Upon reflection, I thought-well, if they're giving out wristbands at 7 am, that means people will be camping out the night before. I later heard, from these boards, that someone showed up at 2:45 am and was 32nd in line!

So, I feel somewhat happy about my choice not to go. But I would like to know the details. How many people did show up early? Was it super crowded? After receiving your wristbands, did you then have to wait in line for hours to see Julie?

I heard she also dedicated Jingles the carousel horse. Was that a zoo also?

Please share. Thanks. :wizard:

:scared: Wow, I'm glad we skipped it! My wife wanted to go but finally decided not to mostly because of having to leave home so early in the morning to get there by 7. Having gone through that and been too late anyway would have suuuuucked!

We didn't see julie but we were in the park that day. The line to get in the park to see her was longer than the lineups at the gate for MM.
And DD was mad because the "horses" weren't open that morning to ride. There was a lot of people waiting for the dedication. We left Fantasyland at 9am and it was starting to get crazy around there. The dedication wasn't until 10 am.

I'm the person who got to the line at 2:45 and was 32nd in line.
Once you received your wrist band you waited in line for the bag check to start, once that was done you were put in to one of two lines, one for hotel guests, one not. It was early entry day so the hotel guests got in first.
Once in the park you raced over to the gallery to purchase your book, only one book per wrist band, once you had your book you were given a number, that was the number in which you would see Julie Andrews.
Once you had your number you were free to go until 12, when you had to be in the opera house to hear the rules and wait to be called.
You were taken in small groups around to the side of the auditorium and lined up in your number order, then very quickly you got to see Julie and have your book signed.
The dedication was hectic as anybody in the park was allowed to attend, I was very lucky as just before Julie was about to leave a manager CM told me to follow her and she told me to wait inside a roped of area by the sword in the stone and Julie walked right past me and said hello and said that my daughter was lovely.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm glad I skipped it. Driving all the way from San Diego I proably would not have arrived at the parks till about 6 am and I bet I would not have been in the first 250 people. So, I'd get a book but what I really would want is to have her personally sign it for me.

On the plus side, I'm glad that once you got your wristband you were allowed to wonder until the signing began.

Syko, that's great how the CM helped you out. What a wonderful memory, Julie giving your daughter that compliment. I bet she never forgets it.

I believe it's on laughingplace.com where they included some wonderful photos and video of the signing and dedication. Almost as good as being there in person.

I'm going to DL this Sunday. Can't wait to ride Jingles.

We didn't make it to the book signing, but we did see her at the re-dedication of "Jingles" on the carousel. it was pretty cool. Here's a couple pictures I took.

Oh, man, I wish I could have been there. I adore Julie Andrews. That woman is amazing.

We were there that day. Didn't stop to see her. But the crowd sure clogged up Fantasyland. Wonder if she stayed to hear herself narrate the fireworks.

I was there and saw her in a store in the castle before the signing of her books. She was giving an interview. We stood in line for an hour and 1/2 and that was before I went into the store to by battiers for my camara. When I went into the store there she was in the back of the store giving an interviewing. I asked if I could take a photo and they told me no. So on my way I went.

Wow, what a neat thing to see! What a dream come true. Haha, yeah that would have been pretty cool if she narrated the fireworks live that night! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

My wife planed on seeing her. She printed all the information weeks beforhand.
THe night before, we were doing something with our Disney Visa at the City Hall, and mentioned Julie.
The cast mamber mentioned there would be only 280 wristbands. Shhhhhh

SO the morning of, My wife and mom headed tot he park at 7 while I stayed int he room with our toddlers.
She was back in 20 minutes and said the line was already over 300 people so there was no point in staying. She said the first person in line was there since midnight.

We did see her at the dedication. I videotaped the whole thing, and took some stills. Yes it was crazy back there.

PS, She was not the only celebrity we saw there.
Over at California Adventure, Friday Night just before closing we were waiting to ride the ferris wheel.(Mooving gondolas)
THey anounced they would be pairing small groups together, to speed things up. So the guy in front of us said he would tell them that we were a party of 5. He was nice and funny and acking really silly.
After the ride my neices said they think he was a celebrity so I asked him to confirm. It was Matt Gallant from The Planets Funniest Animals! With his woman Joe.
Too cool.
