Was I wrong? Kinda long...

I've not had a great past with relationships and this man that I am marrying is my Prince Charming. He loves me AND my son as if he were his own. I am far from a bridezilla, I would just like as perfect of a wedding as we can have.

Sometimes we have to deal with the bad stuff, so that we are able to fully appreciate the good stuff.

Your wedding will wonderful, I'm sure :goodvibes

I guess I just have a different relationship with my friends. If one of them came to me and said "X had to drop out and I was wondering if you'd be interested" it would never occur to me to be insulted. My yes or no wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that I wasn't the original person asked.

I agree. I've actually been a 2nd string bridesmaid.

Umm--why does she have to be replaced?
I had a bride's maid drop out 4 days before the wedding...
DH & I had 3 groomsmen and 4 bridesmaids by choice, and it was great! At the end of the ceremony as the groomsmen/bridesmaids are walking out together, the 3rd (and final) groomsman walked to the middle of the stage and the last 2 bridesmaids stood on either side of him. As they walked down the aisle together the guy looked like he was the happiest man on earth! It was a cute, funny little moment.

:thumbsup2 Based on what I have seen among friends and family, those who want only perfection end up miserable on their wedding days with all kinds of dissapointments.
Couldn't agree more. And you know what is soooooo much more important than having a great wedding? Having a great marriage. That is, after all, the purpose of this day. It's just a little party celebrating the beginning of the journey. The journey itself is what really matters. I have been married 11 years (which is not really that long when you consider how long we all hope to be married to our mate) and I think lots of other Dis'ers will agree that, in the big picture, the wedding is just not that important. I think sometimes when we're planning a wedding it just seems bigger and more important that it really is, and it often overshadows what IS important.

I wish you the best! Despite all the confusion surrounding this one issue you and your Prince Charming will have a wonderful day filled with memories! :cloud9: (And yes, even the little things that go wrong can be great memories you laugh about together as the years go by!) ;)
