UPDATE --YES I was and I just got $200 credit applied to my CC!

 My teens had previously unused MYW tickets on our recent trip. They used their passes 2 days and then we went to GS in DTD to upgrade.

My DS's had 7 day hoppers, no expiration, with plusses and a DQ visit. The DVC price was $181.92 each to upgrade each to a PAP.

My DD had a 7 day, no hop, EXPIRY, no plus and the price was $154.42 to upgrade with DVC to an AP.

I was not expecting it to cost $500 to upgrade these tickets, and it is really bugging me.

Does anyone know if this is correct? I have saved copies of my reciept and the backs of the tickets.

This sounds about right. Remember, they will take the price you paid originally on those passes that you are turning in, minus the value of the days already used on them. So the difference left is what they apply to the new purchase.

You mean it would be less to upgrade had we NOT used the tickets? Before leaving, I was reading a thread on the DIS and the advice was to USE the ticket before upgrading so that the original discounted price I paid would not be affected - that they would treat it as a gate priced ticket.

I guess I would have done better to upgrade their tickets before using them, which was what I was going to do originally, if I am understanding you correctly.:confused3

As someone who spends alot of time at GS, I would have to say that you were not overcharged.

Those tickets were front loaded. That means, that the first days used are worth more than the last days used.

Because your Ds's had hoppers, their first days were worth more than your DD days. So that is why they had to pay more than she did.

The plusses are worth very little and have minimal trade in value.

Gate price for your DS's tickets are $395 plus tax. Subtract the 2 hopper days they used at almost full value and that is the difference in price you paid for the PAP with DVC discount.

Gate price for a 2 day hopper no exp. is $177 plus tax, which is what your children basically used before trading them in. Your DD's was $30 less, because she didnt have hopping to begin with.

They would have been better off not using any days and trading them in for the full value but I know that is not always possible and things change.

HTH!

:sad2: Thanks for the responses. I knew, prior to this trip, that I was going to upgrade their tickets. I was going to go to GS upon arrival and before using any days on the passes. I don't know what the DISer's on the thread I was reading were talking about, since they were saying that it was better to use the ticket first. Oh well. Lesson learned. I knew that my DD's was going to be less. I was figuring they would all be about $100 (each) or so to upgrade, and that probably would have been correct had we not used them first.:sad2:

I thought if you upgraded to AP's within 14 days that they took the full value of the original ticket and backdated the AP to the first day of use of the original ticket. Did they date the AP's on the day you upgraded? Or the original date?

Does your receipt show that they gave you the DVC discount. That may account for the difference you feel there is in what you paid and what you thought it should be. We upgraded my DGD's 10 day MYW ticket(purchased from a ticket broker) at Christmas after she had used 7 days to non expiring and the CM gave her credit for the whole price and we paid the amount to make it non expiring - we had to pay for the whole 10 days but the cost was less than buying a 3 day ticket next time she goes.
I have an unused park hopper plus from many years ago and am going to see what it will be worth towards an AP for our trip in Sept. I don't know if they will upgrade to an AP since it has plus features on it - maybe they will require it be upgraded to a PAP. I wish they had a written statement of what can and cannot be done with these tickets.

Yes, my receipt does show DVC. I contacted DTD GS today and the woman, though she couldn't help me, did think I may have been overcharged. I have emailed Guest Communications, and hopefully they will look into it further. If I wasn't overcharged, that's fine, but I just need to make sure. It just came out so much more than I thought - when you look at the gate prices for the tickets I had and the DVC discounted price.
