Well with just less then 48 hrs to go and getting excited my beloved beagle has decided to damage not only one but both her dew claws resulting in being sedated and a lovely bright pink plaster and antibiotics for a week ahhhhhhhhh . Here hoping that my dog sitter does not mind giving her tablets and the vet takes the bandage off tommorow which he said he would do .

aww sure you dog will be ok.:)
DH and I are dog hosts (basically we look after dogs in our own home when their mum and dads go on hols) and they are a resilient lot. We have Sunshine the miniature dachshund for the next week, she only arrived today complete with war wounds from losing a fight with their next door neighbours cat:rolleyes2
I am sure your excitement will return tomorrow..have a great time :goodvibes

the absolute worst part of our trip is having to leave our dog behind!

especially now that we have to find her new arrangements...

on our last trip we found a new sitter who is excellent!!
but she's moving houses exactly in two weeks when we go, so we have to take her elsewhere...
the kennel she's going to was recommended by our dog whisperer (that's a whole story right there)..
a kennel is not at all our first choice, but she has to be somewhere...
i'm sure she'll be ok....but i'd much rather take her with us..

she looks very similar to the dog in this video (i love this video)..
except my dog is about twice as tall *(she's as tall as i am, when she's on her hind legs)!!

I agree! We have a golden retriever, a corgi and 2 daniffs! I call the kennel every other day when we are gone lol! My DH says yours states away why call? I don't care, makes me feel better. Plus boarding 4 dogs a week is about 500$ and I bring their food!

Ahh bless you. Our pets are like children to us and are to those that dont have any. I have 6 cats one a siamese and a mini JR dog. Herbie the siamese is like a dog Fetches carries etc.
My mom has always looked after them but next year I will hv to get someone in to look after the cats. My mom is a fit 74 but its getting too much for her now. She will hv the JR but living 4 miles away 2 trips a day is a bit much.
Have a lovely holiday and Im sure ur doggie will be well looked after

That video made me cry! Especially as I'm in the throes of packing at the moment and my dogs are looking at me with TRAITOR written all over their faces. :sad1:

We drive miles to a wonderful kennels we have used for over 13 years, in fact my sister offered to dog sit for us this year as she's now retired but she's not really a doggy person and I know they'll be much happier at the kennels. They love it there and I have no qualms about the quality of the care they receive there BUT still feel like the world's worst person at the moment!
