Warriors exploding with pride in July.

Happy 4th of July!

I'm doing a quick run in here to say hi and bye for the next few weeks. My wedding is in 13 days and I'm leaving early (like, probably around 3:00 am if I know how the fireworks/general noise goes around here on July 4th!) tomorrow morning to start the 2500 mile drive (with just Jack for company!) to the Toronto area. I'm planning on arriving on July 9th, then the wedding is July 17th, and then we're doing two weeks up at the cottage on a lake in Northern Ontario, and then driving home. Whew! No wonder my (soon-to-be)DH won't have any holidays for marathon weekend in January!

I have a running skirt and five different running tops packed, along with my Garmin and my running shoes, so hopefully I'll get a chance to use it all! I am really looking forward to getting in a lot of lake swimming at the cottage! I've kind of fallen off the wagon after last Saturday's half marathon, but I'm not too concerned right now.... early August, Goofy training will begin!

Good luck to everyone with races in July (and congrats on the PR this morning, Tracy!!!) and hope the hot weather doesn't hold up the training too much! :yay:

Sarah

Did Peachtree this morning. Best weather in years. Nice and cool at the start and not bad the whole way through. Did 57:37. I was happy with that time. I was a little undertrained and had no plan of action for the race. I just wanted to go and have a great time. I ended up feeling great and very happy with my time (although one of my slower 10K's). My splits were very even and i kept a good pace. Again, very happy with the way my Peachtree turned out this year.

Sarah: Have a great time and enjoy!!

Ken: Good job and nice and easy pace is sometime what is called for.

Tracy

I've got June caught up and working on July stats.

Sarah, have a great holiday. Congratulations once again on your marriage and best WISHes to you and future DH.

Ken, glad you area happy with your Peachtree results! Good job!

Tracy, congrats on the PR!

Kate, glad you got some good pointers from the training partner.

Jeff, glad you intervened and are safe to tell about it.

Ack, it was a messy day yesterday. I went to turn on the Wii so I could use Fit and darn thing would not go on. I was Wii-less just when I would rather have played. So, had to go to the store, got another hooked it up and used it for a bit. Have to start all over and everything. Only issues left is Yahoo mail. Today I watched some Tour de France and did my Tour de Living Room on the exercise bike while I watched. Added in Pilates and calling it a good day.

Hey everyone-

What a great weekend of races! Everyone's done so well. Really sad didn't get to say good luck to Sarah, but maybe she'll read this when she gets back! HAVE AN AMAZING WEDDING!!!

Did City of Manchester 10k today with Nathan (DBf). Was sunny and warm, but actually quite pleasant. Now Nathan had led me to believe that he runs around 55mins-1hr for 10k so was expecting it to be ok..... his race plan obviously changed! We finished having run the whole thing together in 50:55  average pace of 8:15! The first and last 400m were on the athletics track used for the commenwealth games so that was cool.

Hope you're all having a great weekend with plenty of fireworks and celebrations.

16 miles through the downtown portion of the Honolulu Marathon course. We played it smart, and ran through the shadows of the trees and buildings downtown. Helped keep us slightly cooler than normal.

We staycationed in Waikiki for the 4th of July fireworks. Nice 2 days in the pool and on the beach.

Have a great week everyone.

Jack and I are checking in from a Days Inn in Billings, Montana. You know we can't stay away long as long as there's wifi for my iPod touch! Thanks for all the well wishes! Now it's time to pack up and eat our complimentary breakfast and get out of here!

Hey Warriors! Sounds like Everyone had a good weekend!

Sarah--Congrats and Safe Travels!

Tracy and Kate--Awesome Races!

A teeny-tiny RR from my Midnight 5k... The luminaries over the causeway were beautiful. And the moon was near full and casted pretty light on the bay. Other than that it was really dark and I about tripped myself on some of those road reflectors!! The run went well up until mile 2, I was on pace for just under 12 minute miles, which while not my best 5k effort ever, was better than a couple weeks ago. Then I get this pain on the side of my knee. Not excruciating exactly, but a stabbing pain on the outside of my right knee. Never felt it before. So I ended up wogging and hobbling it in, for a 38ish finish. Yuck.

Unfortunately, I think the pain I was having is an IT band issue. It feels better now, after a few days rest. I am going to do an easy run tomorrow and see how it feels. I am putting myself back on C25K again since I have been way too much of a slacker this summer with my running.

Sarah, glad to see you checking in here. Hope your travels are going smooth.

Jeff, your FB pics of your staycation are wonderful. Good job on getting that run in too. Amazing.

Kate, great job on your event! Seems like you both pushed the other along.

I had a great exercise day today.

Amy, good for you getting out for that event. Sorry about the pain. Sounds like the pain I had with IT. Stretch, stretch, and repeat several times. That is one tough thing to get through.

Hey my lovely Warrios!! How's it going? How ya feeling? Haning in there in the warm summer months??

I got out and did 4.65 miles today. When I got up at 7am it was already 80, but needed to get out there as it is supposed to get to about 95 today with a feels like as VERY VERY HOT-STAY INSIDE!!!. I did a bit more miles than usually because I took off Sunday after my PR on Saturday. I have also been having a weird twinge/soreness in my right lower leg. This started happening as I started to jog more. I am thinking maybe that is the reason. I know I have pretty good shoes, as I always go to the runners store - they are runing shoes. It's like a calf thing but more toward the inside of the leg. Been trying to do more stretching. I have been holding off trying to do more running for now to give it a break. I have also been using my "stick" on it.

I know that most of you have heard me say repeatedly that I need a bike, so I went over to the local bike shop to talk to the owner whom my Brother knows. So he asked me what I was looking for and we talked for a bit. He is having some bikes come in that he recommended for me so I went ahead and put a down payment on it and just waiting to hear when it comes in. YEAH!! Now I can do some biking on the days I am not putting in miles or swimming.

It's not the GREATEST bike, but will work for me!!
I am excited!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Racey Tracy

Hey guys,

aww it was so lovely to see Sarah popping in!

Tracy  for your bike- it looks lovely! So sorry you have sore calf- take good care of it and give it a good squishing with the stick. I love me stick!

Amy eek on your IT Band pain- totally agree with Lily, lots of stretching and if you have something to roll on then that def helped me.

Lily a great exercise day sounds awesome- well done and thanks for the support.

Run club for me today, 6.41 miles in 58mins. Now run with 2 lovely ladies who chatter all the way so it's much nicer. Amazing what difference that makes.

Nearly mid-week!

:cool1: Way to go Warriors!

Tracy - bike looks cool - hope it comes in soon. Congrats on the PR too!

Congrats to all that raced and/or PR'd this weekend.

We traveled up to Maine, and Jeff did the LL Bean 10k (double miles) and Alicia did a mile fun run - can we count her's too :rotfl2:

happy training team!

Hey Kids!!

Just popping in really quickly. I've been sidelined for a few days with an upper respiratory infection. Lots of nice uhhhhhhhh............... stuff has been coming up. Hopefully I'll hit the road in some form tomorrow.

Bad news of the day - - I got an e-mail yesterday saying that the AFAC Triathlon at in September has been cancelled. Bummer. Have to find another one somewhere nearby ....................... :-(

8.25 miles in 1:12. Felt slower than normal, but I'll take it.

Have a great WISH Wednesday.

Hi warriors!

We are on our way back from a quick trip to Fort Wilderness. Still have about 2 hours more to drive- yuck! Started week 4 of the C25K on Sunday. We ran about 1230 am and it was still so hot. I don't think I have ever sweat so much in my life. We have got to get back on a schedule as soon as we get home! I forgot how exhausting it is to go on vacation with 3 kids in the summer. Well we had a good time anyway and we are off to the beach on the 22nd.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!!

Jennifer

Hey Warriors!

Been very busy lately and had a horrible "work-out" week last week. (I missed way too many of them.) But I guess that will happen from time to time.

But I'm back on track so far this week!:thumbsup2 3 miles worth of hill repeats on Tuesday, 1.2 mile swim last night (my longest distance yet!) and I am still plugging along with the push up and sit up challenge!

Headed to the SF Bay Area today for the weekend, but I'm hoping to still get my runs in.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey Warriors!

My kids' sitter is out of town, so I have a 9 month old, 3 year old, and 9 year old at the office with me this week. Can you say longest week EVER... Oh, and we are going to Tennessee next week to do the Dollywood thing on route to taking Emma to camp. Crazy!

Here's a sort of quick report on my Fourth of July 5k-

OK, background is that my 5k PR is 24:42. That race was under ideal conditions- in December, fast group of runners, middle of Goofy training, pre-latest baby. My super secret totally unrealistic goal was to get a new PR this time. I know, totally insane to think I could hit it in July.

My husband's entire family was in town. My brother-in-law just started running again in January- he hadn't run a 5k in several years, but I talked him into it. (His previous 5k best was over 30 minutes). We found each other at the start and did the whole, "don't worry about me, I'll see you at the finish" thing. Usually the race has about 300 people- this year there were 600 runners/walkers. Bottom line, I put us too far back at the start and we had to weave for at least a half mile. Brad was better at weaving than me- I just kept him in sight. Did I mention it was about 80 degrees and the humidity was 85%?

Finally at mile 1, I passed him. Then at mile 2, he passed me. He held on to beat me. New runner didn't get his time ;), but I finished at 25:1x. At first I was a little depressed that he beat me, but then I got over it. :rolleyes1 My clothes were literally drenched and I think that effort level was pretty close to my old PR.

It was actually pretty cool to have Brad at the race. He'd said I inspired him to start running (he's also dropped a ton of weight). I had told him all sorts of running stories at Thanksgiving, but I thought everyone was just humoring me! He was so excited. (I thought about taking speedy boy on a super long run the next day, but decided that might be cruel... plus I didn't have the energy!;))

So that's it- nearly a PR, and I've created another running monster! I predict his family will be joining us for a trip to Disney marathon weekend in 2011!

Jen in GA

Jen :yay::woohoo: that is a wonderful race report and man you are speedy fast! Keep creating more running monsters- you should be very proud that you are clearly very inspirational.

Michelle great work getting back on track- hope if nothing else you managed to enjoy your lighter week and not feel bad about it.

Jennifer you ran at 12.30am!?!? oh my goodness that's dedication. I'm tucked up in bed by then  Hope you had a great time running around after your kiddies.

Jeff it may have felt slow, but doesn't look like it was. TAKE IT! whoo

Jim feel better soon and i hope you've stopped coughing up stitch style goop!

For me spinning time yesterday for an hour- was a really good workout after a horrendous day at work. I'll remember that for next stressful day! Today I popped to the gym to figure out all the different resistance machines and get some treadmill miles in with my new trainers.... i've switched to Brooks for the first time ever! It was a very hard decision and i hope don't regret it

Hey all!

Great job Jen! WTG on inspiring a new runner. :thumbsup2

Jim - feel better!!

Katie - good job getting in the workout on a crazy day!

To all I've missed (brain mush - sorry) :grouphug::cheer2:

I got in a 5k this morning. 1.2 miles with my DD - informed her we were walking to her rec program instead of driving in prep for our 5k next month. Dropped her off and went along my way.

Hope everyone has a great day.
