Warriors Carving out Miles in October

Hey Warriors!

Sept miles and hours: 105 miles, 24 hours.

I'm still plugging along trying to decide on my goals (I can't seem to commit to marathon training yet- just can't get my head around it.) After a lot of cross-training and not much running, my PF flare up has died down. I'm trying to lose some extra pounds too- I think that will probably be the biggest help with my PF! ;) I've lost about 3 pounds this week avoiding processed carbs (basically, I'm just avoiding bread, cereal, rice, potatoes, etc). It's getting easier, but I haven't faced a weekend yet! :rolleyes1

Best news of all.... I bought a BIKE!!! I went to a good bike shop and got a really basic Trek. I rode it today for about 20 minutes. SOOOO fun. It's not much of a workout because I'm still too scared to go fast!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I have a 5k tomorrow- no medal, so there better be a good T-shirt!

Warriors,

Glad to see everyone is getting in some form of workout. Biking, swimming, walking, running... keep it up!

Did my 8 1/4 miles Tuesday and Thursday, only in the low 90's at 5 pm. Yesterday I was so drenched, decided to jump in the ocean to cool off, and then a nice cold beach shower afterwards. It was dark when I jumped in, so nice to have the ocean practically to myself.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Hi my fellow Warriors...

Sitting here in my room at the All Star Sports. Back from a nice day hanging with some WISh friends and now cooling off from the very hot and sweaty day. I have to say we have some Warriors representing at the Race for the Taste...

Lily and Tracy hope you guys have had a wonderful time so far! Looking forward to hearing all about it and you are right at the front of my thoughts!

Jen  for your bike- sounds like someone's in for some serious fun!

Jim slight sigh of relief that it's hand surgery and nothing major for you- kept that quiet didn't you. Thought of you the other day as they're starting to train or firefighters to be first responders to ambulance calls too.I figured that's what you guys do already over there- how behind are we!

jeff you NEVER have the ocean to yourself.... there's nemo and dory..... :rotfl:

Jennifer that's one hectic line up you've got going there! Very impressed you manage to cope with all of that, never mind that you get workouts in.

Carrie my goodness- in no way could ANY run be seen as slacking, but a 9miler?!?!?! Not a chance! You're doing really well, especially on the hamster wheel!

I've done my first cycle at the gym since shin stuff- did 8.2miles and it felt ok. Swam again this morning and am pleased to say i am managing to do front crawl without drowning myself now! That's quite a development for me- i used to just stick to breast stroke and backstroke, not anymore :woohoo: Getting anxious to pop my running shoes on though.

Oh we spent 1 1/2 hours playing on wii play last night- purely trying to beat the evil tanks!!!! We need to get out more, but man it's addictive!

Have a great weekend everyone

Happy Sunday Warriors !!!

Coming home from Orlando and the RFTT. This was probably the most miserably humid race I have ever done. 98% RH at the start. My immediate goal was to get as far as I could before the sun came up, hoping that would minimize the discomfort. Well, not so much. It was kinda' like running with a wet, warm towel wrapped over your face.

Long story short - My stated goal was sub 1-hour. My "double-secret" goal was to finish in sub 57 minutes, bacause this is what I ran in a "practice" about 2 weeks prior, but it was cooler & drier that day. I finished in 59:24, then proceeded to spend the next 3 hours rehydrating & resting. This one was a killer! Hopefully the ToT will be more tolerable .

Great Job Warrior Jim!!
I finally saw Warrior Amy this morning before the race!

So Warriors Lily, Jim, Amy and I all did our Warrior best thing morning during the hot, sweaty, humid, soaking RFTT!!

My pace was faster than the last Half I did, so I was happy. 1:20:58.

Jen: Yeah for the bike!!

I enjoyed seeing all the photo and status updates on Facebook. Thanks all, made me feel like I was there. Good going to all the WISHers who raced and got their hard earned bling.

Keep up the miles and smiles everyone.

As for me, I got in another 18 miler this afternoon. Changed it up a bit. Instead of running at 5 am, I opted to go in the afternoon around 3 pm. It was hot for the first 8 miles, then the sun set.

While running back, I saw the production trucks for "LOST" driving past me to another filming location. They are busy filming the last season, and have been spotted all over the place. In fact, I saw them last week on the drive home.

Have a great week everyone!

Great pictures Tracy! Looks like the Warriors had a great time at the RFTT! :thumbsup2

Looks like everyone is still plugging away and running, biking or swimming, way to get those miles/minutes in one way or another.:cool1:

I got 6 miles in on Saturday and 4.5 miles of hills on Sunday with my mom. LOL, she was sucking wind and but don't tell her that I said so. She'll be ready by January to finish the half, but we'll be at the back of the pack.

Nike womans half marathon is on Sunday, so I'll get some hills and miles in the books. Thankfully I signed up for all these races, or else I wouldn't be getting my miles in. For some reason I'm not very motivated to run these days. The weather is turning and it's supposed to rain here for the next few days, hopefully not too cold....just wet.

5.2 miserably humid, hot miles this morning. Even with a solid overcast it was really .................. just bleh.

Hopefully the weather will soon break.

5.66 easy miles this evening. Heading down to Celebration tomorrow, so it probably be a rest (or take the fat Golden Retriever for a walk) day.

SUPPOSEDLY cooler weather is inbound, but I have yet to see it.

Sorry to have neglected things here for a bit. I'm back from RftT. Had a good time in spite of the Africa hot weather. This weekend is DesMoines HM and much cooler weather. I hope that will help me some. It's been a struggle for me to get a good groove going and I feel I am catching up all the time.

Oh well, I'm glad that everyone is getting things done. That is encouraging to me.

Welcome back Lily and massive whoop whoop for RFTT! You did great especially in those conditions.

Just flying by as at home on study day so feel bit guilty being on here! I've done 2 walk/run days so far- with shin ache.... but it's tough. 12 weeks to go there will be no more sitting around! Both days were about 2 miles in 30mins. Fingers crossed it's just cranky from not running for a while now. sigh

Sarah i loved the hamster story on fbook- made me smile

Hi Warriors,

Congratulations to all the Warriors that had fun at RFTT! It's great that we can keep up on FB. If anyone that I have not made friends with on FB, search...Marcia Tsang if you would like to be friends on Face book.

It was fun seeing everyones pictures from RFTT, hopefully we'll all meet up in Janauary!

If anyone is running the Nike womens this weekend in San Francisco and would like to meet up, I usually stretch out in front of Macy's 6:15-6:30am

Cheers!

Hey Warriors!

Another quick update from me.

Got in a 12 miler on Sunday, but had to walk the last miles as all of my leg muscles suddenly decided to protest at once. No pain, but stiff and weak. Whoops. Guess I have been overtraining. I took Tuesday off, went to yoga on Wednesday, and then did 6 miles this morning. Still feeling stiff, but I felt better by the end of my run than at the beginning, so I'm taking that as a good sign. I may throw my Saturday run, as well. No sense pushing a back to back on my "off" week when I'm feeling tired.

Good luck on your events this weekend, Lily and Marcia!

Way to go Warriors, stick to the training plan.

Headed out for my usual PTA (Pain, Torture, Agony) run. 8 1/4 miles. Winter has arrived. Brrrrr!!!

It was down to 86 degrees by the time we finished in the dark.

Jeff nemo's just toying with you! He's doing a magic trick just like when they saw people in half :) He's back stalking you in the sea by now

It's been quiet on here this weekend, I guess that means your all out getting your miles in.... or having fun! Done 2 gym bike rides fri and this morning of 9.1 and 13.05miles respectively so I will get my miles in for you guys. Also another walk run yesterday with compression socks to see if that would help. Any of you use them? Covered about 3.1 miles in my run, still not feeling right but hey ho off we go!

Kate : I used one while I was suffering from my shin splints in my right leg. I still have it "incase" I need it. I have thought of buying the running ones which breath a bit better.

I got out and did my miles this past week and did an eight this morning and back on track with my Half training schedule for my next half in November.
I do have a 5K on Halloween to do with my Mom and her women's club.

Hope all is well and everyone doing races this weekend, Have a blast!!

-Tracy
