Warriors Carving out Miles in October

I finished the Nike womens 1/2 in 2:33...long story, but those hills kicked my butt. I saw Michelle and Susie at the finish! WTG Michelle! You rocked it today.

How do those compresion socks work? Just wondeirng if they help with recovery or with general circulation as you run in them.

I forgot to post my bling:

At laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast some cool weather!!!!! It was mid 50's in Celebration this morning. I ran 7 3/4 very easily and (by my standards at least) pretty quickly without difficulty. Hopefully it will stay through the ToT next Saturday.

Working towards the Outback 1/2 in Jacksonville on Thanksgiving morning. Then Mickey in January.

If it stays cool, MAYBE it will be a good time. But then again, I HAVE gone to the beach on Christmas day here.................

Way to go Susie, Chelly & Marcia on your Tiffany's bling. You both conquered those hills of San Francisco! Shout out to Caseydilla for her first marathon in Denver. Lily, Anne, Pat & Jim, for their Iowa half. And Carrie for her half (not sure where?).

I got in my 18 miler. Started in the morning early, to beat the heat.

Have a great week team.

I feel like a mega athelete!!! I beat MArcia this wekeen din teh half!! :rotfl: Pay no attention to the fact that my course was basically flat and her's had a few hills. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Oh, I was just in MI, not Detroit, though. So sad to hear abotu Detroit, it's a great race.

Marcia - WTG on SF! I've heard nasty things about that course and those hills. Can't iimagine! Oh, I also ran in 30-40 degree temps (which are perfect fro me_. I'm guessing you had a bit mroe hear. Great job!!!

LIly - COngrats on your race!

Jen - COngrats on the bike! Wooo hoo! I loved closed courses so I'm not afreaid to go too fast!

JimB - I'll see you Saturday, right! I so want ot finally meet you!

Sarah - Way to listen to your body. DO take it easy if your legs continue to feel stiff.

Jeff - WHile I can't do heat, there's a big part of me that's jealous that you still have tri weather there.

Tracy - Hope those legs are still doing ok!

SO worreid about the ehat on Saturday at ToT. DOnt' tell dh, but I'm kind of hoping for rain to cool me off during the race.

Oh, got Wii Fit Plus, it's only like $20 or $25 if you already have the board. LOVE it. I can [rgram in my oown yoga or strength trainign routine adn it will just go without scoring and pausing between. Yay!!!

Hi to all! Trying to keep up but not doing too well. I'll be at WDW next week, so I knwo I'll just get behidn agian. :upsidedow

21 1/2 bike miles + 6 1/4 run miles today in 2:17 total.

Got the parts for my broken Aero Bars today, so I will be back on the road bike soon. Props to PERFORMANCE BIKE COMPANY for getting me the parts quickly (& for free too!). Good business. Give 'em a try!

See ya'll saturday (if you can find me in the crowd!!) !.

Got the parts for my broken Aero Bars today, so I will be back on the road bike soon.

Just popping in to say that this gave me a real double take. Where I come from (and likely where Kate comes from as well :lmao: ) an Aero Bar is a delicious piece of bubbly chocolate. And I couldn't figure out how that would be conducive to road biking. Particularly a broken one. :lmao: And now I'm so craving an Aero Bar but am really in the wrong country.

And here I am sitting at the computer on the DIS in my running gear....

Sarah i had exactly the same thought! :rotfl: Had me wondering if they would be mint or regular.... then i got onto the new aero bubbles which are little malteaser size blobs of aero (in case you don't have them).

Not so practical for using in the heat!

Carrie please could I have a full review of wii fit plus? I'm debating a purchase :lmao: again! Absolutely massive congrats for your half, flat or not that was still brilliant.

Marcia fantastic work for the SF half. I can't believe your bling! That is awesome :rotfl: Compression socks can be used for either recovery of improved circulation and support whilst run. I'm running in them now.

Tracy whoop for getting back on track for the training and also good to hear about you using socks too. Hmm.

Did 3 miles of run 6 walk 2mins and it's still sore. Man- when is this going to go. I need to be at 8miles next week :rotfl2: Started doing some shin strengthening exercises now to try to balance things out. All good fun hey. On more positive side, I'm loving my latest uni assignment- looking at exercise interventions for adolescent inpatients with depression. Feels very close to home as i used to work on that kind of ward. Seems I quite like researching :surfweb: and not just on disney!

Kate: Oh, I forgot about Aero Bubbles! They don't sell them in Canada, but they were a road trip staple when we lived in England and decided to randomly drive to Scotland or Wales some weekends. Speaking of road trips in the UK... I grew up in the middle of the barren Canadian prairies, so I'm used to driving 300 miles to visit an Ikea (not that we didn't have one, just that the one 300 miles away was better! :lmao: ), but why did road trips in England feel like we needed to pile up the car with blankets and food and water and a portable generator, because we were leaving the ends of the earth? And god forbid you take a wrong turn on the way home and end up in the Lake District after dark.... :rotfl:

Oh, and I have Wii Fit Plus, too! I think it is a 100% improvement over the original. It's like they took all of my complaints about the original, and fixed all of them in the Plus. You can choose from several pre-set workouts, or program your own from the yoga and strength exercises, and it actually takes 30 minutes to do 30 minutes of exercise, instead of an hour or two with the old version. All of the old activities are there, but they've added about 15 new "games" and they are all fantastic. I love the Rhythm Marching - I always end up collapsing into giggles by the end! The multiplayer option is also great, in case you feel the need to take on someone at flapping your arms like a chicken!

Carrie: Congratulations on your half! Glad you had good weather for it!

Marcia: My, that is some awesome bling! Also, congrats on the hilly half!

Tracy: Please tell me you're dressing up for your Halloween race! :rotfl2: We also have a Halloween race, and we're trying to figure out how to dress up the dog as the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood.... complete with the old granny nightgown and bonnet! :woohoo:

As for me, I've been bad at updating my miles and times, and even worse at posting! But I am getting the miles in, and sooner or later I will have to pull them off of my Garmin to post. I did shorter runs on the weekend (6 miles and 9 miles) and my legs feel much better. I got in 4 miles this morning in perfect weather, as well.

Oh, and I had the "pleasure" of having our local NBC news people come to film me coaching my Girls on the Run group today.... let's just say that leading a discussion with a bunch of elementary school girls on their values while being miked (not wearing the microphone, but having someone actively putting it on me as I talked!) was a new and distracting experience. But the girls loved it, and they all put in 35 minutes of great running for the cameras.... maybe I need them there every practice...

Keep moving, Warriors!

8 1/4 miles in the rain today. Great practice for December. Notorious for rain on race day.

Happy Wednesday everyone.

Marcia - LOVE the bling!!!

Sarah - lol. your girls must take after me. I told dh (maock the car insurance commercials where they doo goofy things with teh money they saved) that I was going to hire a crowd to scream team fro me every LR! :rotfl: BTW, aero bars are the long handles that allow bikers to almost lay down over teh handle bars.

Jim - I'm begging. please find teh WISHers pre-race and introduce yourself! DH will be there. he'll keep me in control, I promise. :p

For Kate - Wii Fit Plus review (not necessarilly by order of importance):

1. Counts calories
2. You can input pets and tehy will play with you (WTH?)
3. You can prgram in a yoga and/or strength trianing routine that will go from exercise to excersize w/o scoring or inputting your minutes. *****So nice. I do 34 min of yoga in about that much time.
4. There are extra work-out type games (Segway, biking obstacles course...)
5. You can track waist measurements.
6. 3 add'l yoga pose (gate, spine extension and ??)
7. You can have guests that can basically just jump ion and go.
8. There's a multi player mode.
9. Ther are other pre-made routines, but I haven't done much with those.

I think there may be a bit more. AMazon had some pretty good info. To me, it was worth it just for the ability to program in my yoga poses and creat a work out that didn't take 60 min to do 30 min of stuff.

HTH!

Hi Warriors! Sorry I've been away for what seems like way too long. I'm back home now. Been doing quite a bit of traveling and finally settled for a bit now. Life has been busy for sure.

Latest is Des Moines half marathon this past Sunday. Fun event I must say. Got to play with some WISH Team members and of course that made it a great time. I did better than I have been and am glad of that too.

I'm going to catch up some on the goings on here. Hope to find all have been doing well!

WTG Carrie you did great!

I was wondering about the Wii fitness plus, thanks for the review on the game! I might have to go out and purchase it tomorrow.

My training has slacked off as far as training. I just run a half marathon every two weeks and that's my training. LOL:rotfl2:jk. I took it easy this week because I felt like I was getting a sore throat and not feeling well.

WTG Lily!!!

Aero Bar/Chocolate??? Yum, or wow I need one of those!:confused3

Sarah you are an inspiration to all of us! WTG with your girls group!:thumbsup2

Jim - nice job! WTG on the training...as always!

Tracy - how did the offer go today? hopefully everything is great!:yay::yay:
Jeff the looks on Nemos face..I'm scared for him!

Marcia - A half every other week adn that's it. WOuldn't that be nice? :rotfl: Hope you are feeling better!

Leaving the internet world shortly. Just wanted to say bye for now to my Warriors that can't do ToT.

It's going ot eb a first. DH and I are packing training clothes. :scared1: That's rgiht. We will attempt to get in 2 trianing runs (one of them a temp run) while down there on top of ToT. Just wish teh ehat trianign I will get would last until January.

Have a great week warriors! :goodvibes

Thanks Marcia for asking.
I placed yet another offer for a townhouse this past Wednesday. It is a short short. The offer was accepted by the realtor as 1 of 5 offers. She then needs to show the owners on Sunday (when they get back from Disneyworld) and then I will know Monday if the owners liked my offer. They will pick 2 (one as a back-up) then it has to go to the bank and they have to accept it. The bank that owns it is, of all banks, Bank of America. The realtor says that BofA is very slow. So one thing at a time. I made it through the listing agent, next is the owner.
It is a nice 3b/2.5bath townhouse in Miramar, FL in a development called Monarch Lakes. Keeping my fnigers crossed. I made it this far and I have been looking since April/May of this year.

I did a nice 4 milers today with a 12 on tap for tomorrow.

I am going to have to get out my wet noodle and get on some of you warriors that are not posting your miles!! Come on guys, lets get this moving along so we can see how ALL of US are doing as a TEAM!!!!

-Noodle Lasher Tracy:laughing:

Carrie, hope you have a great ToT and good w/o runs in our Happy Place.

Tracy, sorry about the home buying complications. Sounds like an awful drama. PD that it all comes together soon for something that will be prefect for you.

I am to put in steps today, but have defered that until tomorrow. Hoping for a better weather opportunity. (If the weather reports hold)

Hope everyone is having happy training. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to catch up a bit more on Warrior happenings.

Believe it or not, I've caught up with mileage report, just not caught up with our Warrior chat.

Tracy gosh your system for buying houses is complicated! That has to be massively encouraging to have got over the first hurdle. Maybe you should have presented it in a disney folder to appeal to the owner :rotfl: Keep us updated.

Sarah I am ashamed to admit that I have only been to Scotland once, and despite living about 6 miles from the Welsh border- until meeting my Welsh boyfriend hadn't really spent much time there either! If you saw my lunch bag full of stuff then you wouldn't be surprised how much i take on a road trip :rotfl: you never know what might happen in the 8 hours you're at work and seeing as I've taken it all the way to work it would be rude not to eat it ;) So so impressed by your girls on the run and massive WTG for being interviewed and recognised as a fantastic leader.

Carrie Sorry i missed my chance to say goodbye, but i'll send you all my best wishes for a wonderful week and race. Thanks for your review too, that may well go on my christmas list

Marcia the first time i read that i didn't see the joke bit and was thinking blimey that's a cool plan! You take care and eat lots of ice cream- the best medicine comes from cows you know!

Lily wahoo for your race- would love a full report. Glad you've got the chance to settle down, it does amaze me seeing your fbook updates and watchin you zip around!

Jeff it said on our news that school in hawaii will all be closed every friday to save money- is that true? How does that impact you? Were you singing as you ran in the rain?

Me ran Nike human race 10k today on TM using nike plus- it took 11.5km to get nike plus to accept i'd run 10k so it took ages! Also took 2 mins walk break to stay in line with my gradual training increase. First 3k uncomfy and bit sore now, but the rest was actually not too bad. Fingers crossed. Also covered 4.5km earlier in the week.

Jeff it said on our news that school in hawaii will all be closed every friday to save money- is that true? How does that impact you?

Kate:

We had our first furlough Friday yesterday. All state workers will take 18 furlough days off between now and June 30, 2010. Then 24 days between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011.

My wife teaches, and they also were furloughed 17 days for the remainder of this fiscal year, and 21 next fiscal year. We now rank #1 as the state with the shortest school year.

Equivalent of 15.9% pay cut for both of us combined. I may be seeking a part time job soon. "Do you want fries with that?"

No worries folks, we'll tighten the money belt, and survive this.

Our girls also had no school, so it's a three day weekend this weekend, and next. Ran errands in the morning, then they went to aikido. Following that, we went bike riding near the HNL airport at sunset.

I forgot to mention. This morning I went for a training swim for next weeks mini-triathlon on Halloween.

No honu (turtles) this time, but I saw Moorish Idols (think Scar from Finding Nemo), Manini, Oama, and trumpet fish.

The view was terrible. :rotfl2:

Marcia the first time i read that i didn't see the joke bit and was thinking blimey that's a cool plan! You take care and eat lots of ice cream- the best medicine comes from cows you know!

Kate your post is funny for two reasons.

Marcia can't handle dairy, AND is a vegetarian. Tofu-rogurt and Tof-urkey are more appropriate suggestions for her.:lmao:

Good Sunday Warriors!!

Out for my 11.5 miles and a good ice bath!!! My first in a while and boy did I need it.

I have 5 more weeks until the Spacecoast Half Marathon.

Kate: The home buying thing is messed up from all of the mortgage and bank issues here in the US. It is a short sale, meaning the owners can't afford the payments or are behind and the bank that owns it are trying to sell it off. It takes a bit more than just the buyer and seller.

Take care,

Tracy
