Walt's Warriors It's 2010!!

Not sure that any January miles will be "counted" as this is usually the time for a break. Everyone is more than welcome to post any training that you have done or anything you wanna talk about!
As I said at the end of December's thread, please let me know by the end of the month if you want to stay a Warrior and at least pledge to post a few times a month. That way we all get to encourage each other!!

"Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past." ~Henry Ward Beecher

I'm posting first and i'm totally committing to Warriors! I've loved being part of this group and if it continues, then so will I :)

Random question for you- what do i wear to walk the 5k? Think i'd feel silly in running tights and i'm thinking it maybe too cold for shorts. Any heads up? Will I look odd in tracksuit bottoms?

Got out for just over 5 miles yesterday and felt sooooo much better for it. Ate a lot in the last day of 2009 :)

Kate, I don't think you will look strange in track pants. I was thinking the same thing. I am taking it easy for the 5k as Mom and her friend are doing it they walk.

WHoo hoo, did you see my post about tube socks?

-Tracy

I'm also in for 2010! Not sure how much mileage I'll be doing this year, but I'd love to do the half in January or the Princess Half in March, after having my little one in early August!

And I'm agreeing with Tracy, Kate! Tracksuit bottoms will be just fine. I have a running skirt planned for that day, but in all reality (looking at the temperatures!) I will probably wear my cropped yoga pants. I ended up wearing them for the half last year, and I know that there is a very real possibility that I will end up wearing them for the half and the full, as well, this year! It looks like it's going to be COLD out there! I'm not bringing my tights, as they're full length and way too warm if the temperature is much above freezing.

I have another day off today, and then I have 8 miles scheduled for tomorrow. It'll be my last run over 4 miles until the half!

Count me in for 2010!

6.4 yesterday in 1 hour. Going to do about 8-10 tomorrow and drop into heavy taper for the last week.

Hey Warriors hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday season. I am posting my miles for December miles 55.66 and time 11 hours 90 minutes. I cannot wait to see everyone marathon weekend. Off to the doctor tomorrow it looks like I will be cheering this year. We will have to wait and see. Take care and safe travels to everyone.:)

Roxy, good to hear from you. Will you make it to the Friday meet? Hope so. Thanks in advance for cheering.

I have not posted December miles. I'll try to get to it later today.

Sarah, I think your race plans for post pregnancy will keep you motivated. Hope you have things easy now and that morning sickness is gone for the rest of your time.

Tracy,
I would love to join the Warriors for 2010. What do I need to do? I am running the Donald next week. I hope to make it to POP for the W.I.S.H. meet on Friday.

8.6 today in 85 minutes. My left hip is still tightening up like crazy on me. Looks like tylenol & biofreeze and myself are going to be really good friends this year.

Count me in too!

I will post my Dec mileage tomorrow since it's all on my work computer right now.

Can't wait to see everyone in a few days!:woohoo:

Is it Wednesday, yet? :lmao:

I got in 6.5 miles yesterday. I think poor Sasha is going to be running away any day now - 'you mean I got adopted into a house that EXERCISES!?' :rotfl: Poor girl.

I also dug out my favorite full-size suitcase yesterday and repacked my carry-on suitcase into it. I give up. I can't pack a carry-on bag when temperatures could be anywhere between 25 and 70 degrees during the week. I'll pay the $40 RT to American Airlines and concede defeat. I'm going to try the DME luggage transfer for the first time, as well, so we'll see how that goes. I've packed all my vital running gear and a change of clothes for the next day in my carry-on bag, so at least I have a healthy dose of reality to go with my optimism.

When is everyone showing up? I'm arriving Wednesday night, and am going to do MK EMH Thursday morning before heading to the expo. Anyone else heading to the parks on Thursday?

Hi Stan!!

I will keep your request in mind.
1st I need to see which Warriors are staying and committing to posting, then I need to get with Debra on the teams and what we are doing with all that.

-Tracy

Thanks Tracy-I think I may have found some, but will take them to the gym later to try.

Umm I've been so focused on Florida weather-totally ignored ours and we had enough snow to close the airport this morning. The flight coming in from Orlando has been diverted, spells massive delays!!!!! At home I only have about 1cm! Guess there's more at airport. Any spare positive vibes would be appreciated :-(

Hey Warriors!

I completely fell off the face of the earth... ;)

Nothing too exciting has been happening in my world- Harry and I did fix up my mom's 23 year old mountain bike. We cleaned it, changed the tires, and changed the chain. I put a trailer on it and dragged the boys around for about 10 miles. We were quite proud! I've done some riding on my "real" bike, and even some running, but without a schedule and goal race,...:rolleyes1

No miles to report this year so far- but I had some sort of stomach virus and fever for the New Year, and a root canal an hour ago. Surely things are looking up now!

I've found it hard to go on the WISH boards because I'm missing marathon weekend. It was my choice to wait until next year to go Goofy again, but I can't bear to look. Of course, just because I'm feeling sorry for myself doesn't mean I'm not thrilled for everyone going! :woohoo:

Anyway, I'll try to come up with my time/miles for the last couple of months.

I'll be thinking about my cold Warriors marathon weekend!!!!

Jen in GA

Ok Tracy...here it is. Sorry I didn't post it yesterday...I'm trying to get things done here at work since I'm going to WDW!!!;)

57 miles / 13:36:59 (It was a bad month...too much sickness!)

That gives me 873.7 miles for the year! Short of my 1000 mile goal, but I'll take it.

Jen.... :sad2: Don't be sad.... we love you and you will be with us in spirit!!!

Hey Warriors, all of you heading to Orlando, please have safe travels!!
I will be heading there early in the AM!!! (early!!)

I will be looking forward to seeing all Walt's Warriors at the Pop Century Resort at about 4pm across from the checkin area!!!

Love you all!!

Tracy

I'm here and would love to continue being a Warrior! And I definitely plan to be more active on the thread! Back to how I was on the 2008 thread! It has just been a really rough patch, but that looks to be behind me now and I can spend more time here! WOO HOO!

For those of us going this weekend, see you there.

For those left at home, enjoy your warmth. We'll miss you.

Ok folks. I'm back. Slow, sore & finally thawed out. Biked about 18 miles on saturday at the Donald. ALmost got frostbitten feet out of the deal. Finished the Mickey about 1/2 hour slower than I wanted. My legs went out from under me at about mile 17 & my PF woke up and started killing me about mile 20. Fun Day. Not. Ok, well maybe just a little bit.

I have decided, after this weekend's results, that I am doing something fundamentally incorrect in my marathon training, so I ordered Jeff Galloway's book and am basically starting over at square one. I just have to get past the "17-20 mile blowout" so I can finish one of these things the way I think I should (ya' know....... happy, smiling & having fun!).

But I finished upright. How was everyone else's weekend?

BTW, Goofy 2011 here I come. Please do not ask why. I do not know.

And oh, BTW, my DW has officially put me on "running restriction" until my PF dies down (probably a good thing). I have the 2 Disney 5k's in a few weeks and the Breast Cancer 1/2 Marathon in February, but other that that, just swimming and cycling.

I hope you all don't mind if I crash your party for a quick minute.

Kate - I just wanted to say thanks again for letting me run with you Sunday. I know I wasn't able to come up with much more than 3 or 4 coherent thoughts in the 3+ hours we ran together but it was fun. You really pushed me for the last 8 miles. I don't think I have ever been that spent (or hungry!) at the end of a race.

Congrats on the whopping PR. You are a MACHINE!

Tracy - Thanks for helping me get my trash bag on when I came back to HS to cheer while I waited for Kathy. I felt SO much better once I was covered and had a big chocolate chip cookie.

Now back to your regular programming...
