Smaller Support teams for the WISH racing team - please go to the thread to be placed on a team. We do this to keep the numbers to a manageable state and to spead out to all the smaller teams to try to keep it equal.

Well, I broke my own rule and decided to start posting....

Did my 10 miler today right in line for training for the DL Half. I have a 12.5 miler on tap for next Sunday and then taper!!!

How is everyone else doing??

Tracy - that is great that you got in the 10m:banana: Didn't you have any rain on your side of the coast?

My DH and I just got back from my new grandaughter's (Courtney) baptism. One of the lady's from China who also helped to watch Courtney was in the US and also came to the ceremony. It was also another celebration. It was my daughter's 35th birthday. princess:
When we finally got home after all the heavy rain and accidents that we saw on the highway, John went out for his walk even in the rain and I walked the treadmill. I usually can not do very well but for the first time got it in the 16 mile pace. John during his walk had an average of 11.59 for 8.74 miles.

Hope everyone is doing well
Kathy

Hi All

Kathy- good to hear that your pace is picking up. You should be in good shape for the W&D because you normally go a little bit faster during a race.

Tracy-Sounds like everything is doing well with you as well.

AFM- On Friday, I did 6 miles. I tried to keep it fairly slow. For the last few days, my knee hasn't been feeling right. It's not hurting but isn't feeling normal either at times. A few years ago, I stepped in a hole and did somthing to it. I picked up some more Glucosamine and Condroitin because it seemed to help things out last time. I had had some I was taking but was only taking it on the day I worked out. I'm going to increase it to every day and 2 (the recommended dosage) on the days I work out.

Yesterday I went to the state fair and walked around there all day. My nephew is in the fair choir. I didn't get up early enough to do anything this morning. I hoping to get it in this evening.

Good Monday morning Warriors,

The Disneyland 1/2 is less than 4 weeks away!!! I am so lookng forward to being there again this year. A first, my wife is walking/running here very first 1/2. I am sooo excited for her. Looking forward to meeting some of my Warrior peeps also.

AFM, still putting in the base milies in prep for the Goofy in January. So far this year I have logged 756 miles. Also looking forward to the Wine & Dine. We are doing the relay. I think it will be so cool to run through the parks after dark.

Hope everyone's training is going well & you all are staying injury free.

Stan:cool1:

Happy Monday Warriors!!

Another Hot sunny Florida summer month is here!!!

I had a nice, long night at work on Friday. Maybe 2 hours sleep at most, so I was pretty much a useless blob on Saturday. I WAS planning on doing 6"ish", but ended up making sure the Living Room chair did not slide across the floor instead.

Yesterday I moved my DS down to college in Melbourne, so that day was shot. Working today. Hopefully some Cardio is in the works, but no running.

As a result, I am PLANNING to try to fit a LR in tomorrow morning, if the schedule, weather, temperature, back, etc., etc., all agree to let me try.

The DL 1/2 is coming like a runaway freight train. Can't Wait!!!

Just got back from this evening workout. I ended up doing 4 miles. Not counting warmup, I average about a 15 min. mile. Right about what I want race pace to be. My knee felt OK, but it's not been during workout but the next day it bothers me. I think I've decided to stick with the walk 3/run 1 through the rest of the training to give my knee more time to get built up.

Hi Warriors! Now that the first part of the year and those half are done and the fact that I basically took off the entire last month, I'm trying to get something in the form of a routine going. So difficult with all this heat we have be feeling here on the North Coast to do routine anything. What's with this I wonder. Anyway, it feels good to be moving and getting something together.

Hello Warriors!

I'm happy to report that this will probably be my last update from Africa, as I am going home next week! :woohoo:

I ran my last 5K in Africa last Friday and even with a couple of walking spurts (darn humidity!), I finished in about 30 minutes. Since my previous 5Ks at home have me finishing at 30 without walking, I figure I must be getting a little faster. So, I see this as progress. :)

Hopefully, when I get home and over the jet lag, I'll get more running in. It'll be hard to tear me away from my DD, though. :lovestruc

Kathy: Yes, been raining here a bit and Sunday it didn't rain until later in the day, so I got in my 10 before it got bad.

Jeremy: Keep it easy on that knee, no need to push and if the 3w/1r is working then stick with it.

Stan: Great that you wife is doing her first 1/2 at DL!! plus, I get to see you both!

Jim: I finally get to "see" you in CA! That will be great!! Keep up the hard work in the heat - ya know it only makes us hot/humid/sweaty people stronger than everyone else!! haha

Amy: Yay about you coming home soon!! How great!

OK - You all that are going to DL know there is an informal meet for WISHers at the DTD area on Friday around 6:30 outside near the Jamba Juice.

Also before and after races WISHers meet at the family reunion tent that has the letter "W" for greating and photos and encouragment and congratulations! so try to make time to do any or all of these things!!

There is a informal WISH meet for the Wine and Dine on Friday night before the dis Boma dinner. At the Animal Kingdome Lodge in the lobby area.

Also in January the WISH meet is held at the Pop Century Food court on Friday early evening around 4:40 or so.

The WISH meeting for the Princess is usually held on Saturday night early evening at the Food Court at the Port Orleans Riverside resort.

Just to keep all aware so you can maybe plan your trips accordingly.

Have a good day!!

Sorry for not getting here to post fro race schedules in time. Been crazy. Friends in town last week on top for family at our house from Friday to MOnday.

Tracy - Congrats on teh 10-miler! SO sorry about the heat!

Kathy - COngrats on your granddaughter's baptism! Huge congrrats on teh 16 mpm pace too!!!

Jeremy - Hope you are doing better soon!

Stan - Wa ot go on teh mileage this year!!!!

Jim - Hope you can get that LR in soon. Still, sounds like you are workign teh body hard.

Lily - Glad you are feeing good! Hoep we get a reprieve from this heat soon!

Becky - safe travels!!! WTG on teh trainign!

Well, things have been c razy since our race. Firends up from TX, family in town adn at teh hosue all weekend.... So, have not had much work out time. now, it's really hot and humid this week. ugh. Hopefully, we will at least bike and swim. Have a 5K HS alumni run Saturday. I am soooooo slow adn so much heavier than HS, so I am haivng issues. It's a big even, as it will be the last one for both teh grils adn teh guys' coaches. I highly disliked my coach adn he's why I gave up running. I so want to wear a button saying "I'm NOT here for *****" The guys coach was an amazing man, though, and I'd liek to say goodbye to him. So, I'm going ot put on my IM 70.3 visor and suck it up.

Hey Warriors!

Just wanted to post a quick real life update - the reason for my recent horrible mile times has arrived! :goodvibes

Callum Francis was born on Sunday (8/8) at 8 lbs 0 oz and is already getting ready to make his own PRs! I was only in labor for 5 hours from start to finish, which I'm considering to be a pretty good advertisement for running up through your 8th month of pregnancy!

He's a perfect little snuggly boy and is looking forward to meeting our team at Marathon Weekend in January. Me? I already have a 4 mile race on the Labor Day long weekend with a jogging stroller in mind...

Sarah - A great big congratulations. He looks handsome and now has the same birthdate as my daughter. Just 35 years later.

Callum - Welcome to the world of disers

Kathy

Ditto on the congratulations.

He already looks like a record breaking marathon runner to me. :thumbsup2

Sarah party: Congratulation He's so cute.

Carrie - Have fun at your alumni run.

Jim - Hope you got that long run in.

Sarah - Congratulations!!!!!! Callum looks so cute and sweet! Can't wait to meet him in January!

Hi all
I got out this morning for my long run. I did 7 miles. I tried to keep it nice and slow. My walking was at about a 16:30 pace and my running was at about a 13:00 pace and I average 15:40 for the entire distance. So far, no blister problems. For my first 1/2 they started showing up about the 7 mile mark and I needed to start using moleskins. My knee isn't doing any worse. It bothered me a little bit yesterday (a rest day) but was fine by this morning. It's still more stiffness than what I would call pain. I increaed my stretching a little bit at the end of the workout so hopefully that will help.

I'm hoping to head into the city this evening to get a new pair of running shoes. I don't think my current shoes are worn out yet but I'm wondering if I should add another pair to the mix. I've been alternating between 2 pairs since December. I'm going to the running store instead of going online to make sure my stride hasn't changed since I've started running more. I know I have a more pronounced heel strike when I was than when I run so my pronation could be different as well. I just hope they have a good variety in my size. I'm currently wearing New Balance 13 extra wide (4E) and several brands don't fit properly.

ETA: I made it out to Road Runner Sports in Columbus and had a foot analysis done. My left foot is straight and my right one just slightly overpronation. They suggested neutral shoes with an insole for just a little bit more stability. That is essentially what I had. I tried on a pair on Nike's, Asic Gel's, and the latest version of the New Balance I'm currently wearing. I ended up with the New Balance 1064's but in a 12 1/2 instead of a 13.

Wow Sarah! He's gorgeous!!! CONGRATS!

I got killed at work this week so not a great exercise week for me. Our trip to Disney is one week from today and I always get super busy at work right before I leave.

Amanda
