Good Luck to all the RNR Seattle Warriors!

Go Team!

Good luck Seattle WISHers!

Sarah - Hope the socks are good to you! After hwat you went through getting them, they'd better be!

Jen - Too funny! I really wanted my niece to od a tri this yeaer, but I can't help her train from 3 hours away. :-( Sadly, our new trianing facility even has a kids tri this summer.

Love to call out to everyone, but must get to work. ;)

Oh, did 12 miles on the bike yesterday. It was HOT. OK, not Jim hot, but considering that we were only in teh low 60s until 2 weks ago, mid 80s and humid was tough.

Ok Tracy, I did W1D2 of push ups last night. My arms/shoulders are killing me!:headache: You started the sit ups already too?!? Ok...ok...I'll start tomorrow.

Hit the lake last night for a great swim! Not sure exactly how far it was (it was further than usual) but we were swimming for 30 minutes total! We all took our kids with us and switched off kid duty. Once everyone was back in from their swim, we all decided that it would have been a good idea to bring dinner with us next time. Can't wait for next week!

Keep it up Warriors!

really quick drop in just to say i went to spinning last night... without my friends which was a LOT scarier! all good once got going though. Woke up with really painful back that i'm guessing is just a result of having a fan when i was sleeping. Stupid fan! :rotfl:

Amy i've just noticed your racing schedule! You're amazing!

Good Luck Seatle Wishers!!!!

Kate: Sorry about the back. Funny, in FL you can't really survive without a ceiling fan, so I sleep under one all the time. Saves on the AC also.

Michellel: Yep shoulders will kill - which column are you on?? I did column one as I could barely do one pushup when I started. I then went to column 1 in week 2 and then column 2 week two. Now I am on Week 3 column 1. I decided to start the situps - hey YOU called it out, so I started. I figured I would do them the same days as the pushups. Week 1 day 1 column two - wasn't too hard, so give it a try. So far much easier than the pushups.

I went out to the dump tonight after work!! I love that place.
BTW: I have a 5k this weekend to do with DDD Tricia up in Deerfield beach and then a 5K July 4th, so I am trying to keep up with my name! haha

Have a great night my GREAT team members!!

Tracy

Ok, really quick message because it's almost 11:00 and I still need to dry my hair before bed, but...

I've officially made my fundraising goal for the Arthritis Foundation for the Rock n Roll Seattle Half Marathon!!!! All it took was some last minute pleading... :lmao::rotfl::banana::yay::woohoo::cheer2::hippie::wizard:

Ok, that's about it. I'm so excited to meet Lily and the other WISHers tomorrow morning at the race expo!!!!

And I'm going to bed.

Sarah

Great job, Sarah! :thumbsup2 Glad you made your goal!

Have a great race all you Seattle racers!:cheer2::cheer2:

Tracy - I know, I know...I started the whole sit up thing. My plan is to do the initial test tonight and then start on Monday so I can keep the same schedule as the push ups. I started in column 2. Will be done with week 1 tonight! WooHoo!:woohoo:

Yesterday was my rest day, so I have some mileage on tap for tonight. Shouldn't be bad tonight, but our forecast for tomorrow is 110!!!:cool2::headache: Don't think I'll even step outside tomorrow!!! Did I move to Death Valley and nobody told me??:confused3

GO SEATTLE WARRIORS!!!

So, can I justify skipping my run yesterday as sort of a "tapering in spirit" thing for our Seattle racers?! (Does it count that I had fajitas instead of running?:rolleyes1)

We'll be thinking of you, and want lots of race reports!!:woohoo:

Jen in GA

Enjoy Seattle lovely warriors! Hope it's brilliant and can't wait to hear all about it!

Tracy thanks, back's a lot better this evening- that's what you get for having a desk fan directed at you! Still giggle when i read you've been to the dump!

Jen i've definitely heard of fajita tapering- it's very effective!

Michelle you poor thing! 110 degrees is horrendous! We've got heatwave warnings for next week and it's only 90 :rotfl: we're just not set up for a heat- a visit your vulnerable relatives week has been launched

Sarah well done reaching your goal, that's incredibly impressive. You're ready for action now :woohoo:

Carrie great 12 mile ride and it does sound tough- that's a heck of a temperature jump.

I did 6.2miles again in 55mins, took it carefully at first as got a few back spasms- think i looked a little bit special :rotfl:

Go warriors go!

I'm sorry i have another marathon weekend question.... it's going to get bad, we've still got 6 months to go! Ok, i'm well on track for convincing DMum to do the 5k, but wondered about packet pickup as we're not guaranteed to make it to the expo thurs. Anyone know if they are likely to have late pick up friday morning like last year? thanks he he he

Hey Warriors!

Had a great run on a fantastic course, today! Also, a new PR: 2:24:22 for the 13.1. The race was really well-organized and the course was a lot of fun - it took us through one of the nicer areas of the city, along Lake Washington with a fantastic breeze off the lake, and then we got to run along some of the areas that I NEVER thought anyone could ever run on. :lmao: My favorite part was going along the I-90 express lanes through a tunnel that was about 0.6 of a mile long. There was a band playing about 2/3 of the way through (the sound was so distorted by the tunnel that it was surreal, but still awesome!) and every minute or so someone would yell to hear their voice echo and the shouts and cheers would move like a wave through the runners as everyone joined in.

I met up with some other WISHers (including Warrior Lily!) at the expo yesterday, and then again today at the starting corrals and for dessert (I slept through dinner!) after the race. It has been really great to meet and spend time with everyone, and it's making me really look forward to the January weekend!

Also, double miles for the Warriors! :woohoo: And now the Goofy training begins.... :lmao:

Sarah

:cool1::thumbsup2:banana::woohoo::cheer2:

GREAT JOB Sarah!!!! AWESOME time on your Half!!!
Don't forget to post a race report on that thread!!!!

I'm so glad you got to meet up with fellow warrior Lily!!!

Yep, our training for January will start soon enough. I hope everyone is starting to look at there plans, wriring then down, maybe keep a journal and go ahead and write in the miles that you need to do and on what days. This is what I do. I write it out ahead of time and just check them off as I do them.

Here is a good quote I found for us older/more life years people...
"Once you get older, Quit starts to workout with you. Quit is never invited to the workout but is always there on your shoulder saying, 'You don't have to do this. You don't have to push yourself.' " Ed Reed, Pro Football Player.

I will officially start my Half Training towards the end of August as I have a Half Marathon (the spacecoast half) the weekend of Thanksgiving.

ALMOST my peeps, then end of the month is creeping up on us. Please make sure you are posting you miles on the spreadsheet/ or keeping tranck and post at the end of the month.

Tracy

The mixer starts here on the 'Ohana thread.

:stitch:'Ohana Monday Mixer:stitch:

Ah, it's summer. The 4th of July is right around the corner. Summer always strikes me as the time for family vacations and road trips. And I'm sure many of us who are traveling are either participating in races--and :worship: to those of you doing events in the summer heat--or we're continuing to train. So...these random thoughts made me think about the challenges of traveling for WISHers, whether traveling to an event or for other reasons.

This week's mixer asks you to share your best tips and strategies for traveling. We're interested in all things related to staying active on the road, from packing your gear to what kind of exercise you prioritize while squeezed for time and in unfamiliar territory.

A sampling of possible questions: What are the must-brings? How much to pack? How to pack your gear--tips and mistakes to avoid? How to best deal with bulky shoes and stinky clothes? What kind of XT do you do while away from home--do you have anything you bring with you?? What about your guidelines for running/walking in areas with which you're unfamiliar?

I'll probably ask a race-specific traveling question closer to January, but tips on race packing are always appreciated. And those of you who are on the road frequently, for business or pleasure, your expertise is much appreciated. :thumbsup2

Morning Warriors.

GREAT JOB Sarah!!!

I am starting week 3 of Goofy training! Unfortunately, a major heat wave is still on top of us. Forcast for yesterday was 110...we only hit 108! Woohoo!:lmao: I had 6 miles to do and started at 7am when the temp was already 80...by about 9:30 it was already 90! It was a very hot run for so early in the morning. It didn't help that I was in super slow mo! I was only working off of 4 hours sleep!!! Grandma was coming home on the train...which didn't come in until 12:45am! After taking her home and then getting back home myself, I didn't get to bed until 2am. So that 6am alarm was not pleasant! Oh well...I got it done! At least today is a rest day!

Tracy: Thanks for the training tips! I already have my Goofy spreadsheet all worked up, but I still need to write it up in my calendar so that I can check off each day as I go.

Michelle: That is unreal heat! I think you need to borrow some fajita tapering tips from Jen, along with a nice cold margarita. :lmao:

Me, I'm totally jazzed about running, just as I go into my.... month of no running. :lmao: I'm reading Marathoning for Mortals right now, still super-pumped from the Rock n Roll Seattle Half, and have new shoes and a new running skirt to try out! James and I each got a pair of Asics Gel Nimbuses (slightly worn - returned within the 30 day trial period) for $85 TOTAL at the Seattle RnR expo and I'm itching to try them out - I've never bought a pair (I can never find a pair of normal width ones in stores and didn't want to buy a pair online without trying them on) but have been told that they should work well for my feet and stride, and want to see how they work. Also, the RunningSkirt.com twins were at the expo and I ended up with a minidot (like Minnie Mouse print) skirt. I didn't mean to but.... it was cute. And it fit. And I... wanted it. So, I'm bringing my running gear with me on my wedding roadtrip, but I doubt I'll get much of a chance to run - oh well, it'll make me feel better having it!

I also got the chance to go on a day trip to Mount Rainier on Sunday with the other Seattle RnR WISHers. It was absolutely fantastic, and great to spend more time with these wonderful people! :goodvibes

And lastly..... I got my Goofy confirmation today! I had to use the paper form because I was upgrading from Mickey to Goofy, and I'm so excited that I got in before it filled up! I was already so jazzed about it, I don't know what I'd do if I hadn't gotten in!

Hi Team!

I am here and reading. Got 7 miles in today! :cool1: And on Saturday I got a 5-mile run in plus a 2-mile paddle (kayak), so I got upper and lower body work-out AND upped my miles!

Everyone is looking great!

Sarah and Lily-- WOO HOO on the race! :cool1:

Happy Monday warriors!!

Another fun filled Florida day, & all I have to say is..................

Holy CRAP it is HOT down here!!!!! At 0930 today I hit the road to 90+ temperature and 80%+ RH. Needless to say my grand plan of 7-8 miles rapidly disintegrated into a 4.3 mile slogfest.

And ya' know what? When I sweat REALLY profusely (like today ), I become a real skankasaurus & my family (INCLUDING THE DOGS!! ) won't come within 10 feet of me.

Hopefully I'll get better acclimated as the summer goes along. Definitely need to drink (lots) more before & during my runs right now.

And hopefully it will get COOLER!!!!! 7 or 8 lousy degrees!!!! Is that TOO MUCH to ask for??? C'mon, toss me a bone here. I'm (& everyone else in Florida) dyin' here !!

Erika: Nice work on the xtraining, kayaking sounds like fun but also work.

Jim: Sorry about the heat, wish I could help you out, but its kinda sweltering down here also.

TEAM..................
Last day of JUNE........
so you know what that means...........
TIME FOR ME TO GET OUT MY WET NOODLE!!:rotfl2::lmao:

Let's get those times and miles logged into the spreadsheet or for those not using it, please post here before moving on to July's thread.

You all are awesome and don't you FORGET IT!!!

Racey Tracy

Ok, posting my miles for June so I don't get in trouble! 110 miles and 22 hours total!

Jim- Don't feel bad- my planned 4 yesterday turned into 3 and my 5 today turned into about 3.75. It was pretty horrible. I just ordered a sweatband because the sweat running into my eyes is killing me- my children will be humiliated.;) I just keep telling myself that I'll be really fast when the fall temperatures finally hit...

Jen in GA

Thanks Jen!! You ROCK!!

Yes, sweat dripping in your eyes in not fun and stings.
I agree, just think how much faster we will all be after melting in the summer heat and humidity!! I do keep telling myself this!

Tracy
