WARNING...WDW bacon is BAAAAD...

In my opinion, saying that the bacon at a WDW restaurant will ruin your meal is absolutely ridiculous. I guess my priorities are different, but I do not go to a WDW restaurant for bacon. If I was having breakfast and did not like it, I'd just not eat it and move onto something better.

Ahhh...the great bacon debate...this is a very serious question

My 11 y/o is the Grand High Queen of All-Things Bacon :worship: (we have bacon band-aids in the bathroom, bacon salt in two varieties in the spice cupboard, chocolate-covered bacon bars, bacon bracelets, and a bacon wallet). We've found that OUTSIDE of the US, people tend to prefer "rashers" - here we call it "Canadian Bacon" (and for some odd reason, our Canadian Bacon is round. I've had bacon in Canada - both American Bacon and rashers - and never was it served round):confused3

Her Serene Highness prefers American bacon - straight and crispy (but not burnt) with very little fat. She is MOST displeased with rashers - which she feels are fatty, limp, and underdone. We have cousins in Ireland who can't imagine eating American bacon with their breakfasts - they consider it over-cooked and tasting like salty cardboard (she feels that there is a slight strain of madness on her father's side of the family to which these cousins belong; it's the only answer, to her mind, and she feels pitty for them as their illness has obviously drastically affected their bacon taste-buds):scared1:

So I imagine that (at Disney CS and buffets) they tend to go for the proverbial "middle ground" - cooked enough for Americans but not over-cooked for Brits and Canadians. At TS breakfasts you could probably (I'm guessing) have your bacon more cooked to order - although I'm not sure if you'd be able to request that for a pre-plated breakfast.

I don't know if I should warn her ahead of time or allow the overall magic of Disney to make up for the possibility of Rashers...

Just had Bacon at Crystal Palace last week and it was pretty good. Not greasy at all and had a good taste.

Enjoy!

I agree with you! I was just at the crystal palace 2 weeks ago and the bacon was pretty good. But Wolfgang Puck Express has AMAZING bacon.

Now if we are talking about WDW coffee... most places the coffee is less than stellar.

Yeah, Disney eateries are not the place to get a good burger, bacon or pizza.
The bacon at WCC was so thin it was see through and collapsed upon touch. :rotfl2:
However I don't think of bacon, burgers and pizza when I think of WDW. ;)

I've never tried the bacon at WDW -- I'm too in love with their yummy-ummy sausage links! So good!!!

Granted, I've only had the bacon at POP, Boma and Kona but it was some of the worst bacon I've ever had. WAY too chewy!! If it takes you a full minute to chew your bacon, there is something deeply wrong with it. All three places I went to had the exact same bacon. Gross. Thankfully, bacon is not "make it or break it" for my breakfast meals and the Tonga Toast, etc. made up for the awful bacon!

Arghh! Too bad there's no "rolling eyes while laughing hysterically and spewing the mouthful of water I drank while reading this" smilie!

me too, only mine was a mouthful of coffee...:eek:probably not good for the new laptop...

i've always had good bacon at disney!!!

hmmmm im a huge bacon fan so it be kinda hard to not ave it, lol. I had it at CCR and it didnt taste bad

What I'm getting by reading this thread is that bacon is in the eye of the beholder.

It seems to depend on how you like your bacon. If you like it crispy you probably won't like the WDW CS bacon. If you like it a little "limp" and maybe "chewy" you might like it. Personally, I like my bacon not too crispy, so I think WDW bacon is o.k.

I've always thought the bacon at Disney was flimsy, greasy, and cooked way less than I like it.
That's exactly the way we've, unfortunately experienced it!:sad1:

OMGwarsh...bacon band-aids, really??? My DS would go crazy for those :lmao: and the chocolate covered bacon bars would send him into bacon heaven!!! I've never seen anything like that...where do you find them????

Let's not get started on the Nescrape they pass off as coffee:sick::rotfl2:

The sausage links are our fave! Especially my DM's. She loves the big fat ones at CRT the best:thumbsup2

:rotfl2:You're so right! If it takes me a full minute to chew bacon....I'd probably get lockjaw!:lmao:

That looks yummy! I needs to gets me some of that for my next trip.

I think if I pack a can of that, and a can of corn, I can have a great lunch on the steps of City Hall!

Ok...canned bacon...seriously! :sick::sick::sick: I'd surrender to WDW bacon torture first:lmao::rotfl:

I'm sorry, but a WHOLE thread dedicated to bacon?! This just makes me laugh for some reason! :rotfl2::lmao:

I don't mind the bacon at Disney. Sure it's not the best bacon ever, but it's decent.

ITA--when I posted my quick reviews a while ago, that was one of the things I mentioned!!
I usually love bacon and not sausage, but at WDW, it's the opposite.
Although, I still ate a piece or two! :rolleyes1

If you want good bacon - get it from the butcher.
