Warning - Using the App for a Better Time

I had a BOG for 9:10 a.m. but saw an 8:25 pop up on the Disney app. I clicked on it. I got a window telling me to cancel my other reservation. I said ok. I went to finish the process but the 8:25 was not working. Obviously it was not secured. My old time was gone. I know I have read on Disney's website that Disney won't get rid of your old reservation without making sure your new one is good. I called Disney Reservation and spoke to a couple people. I was told that the App does not secure your old reservation. Only Disney's website does. All they can do for me is call the restaurant and try and get me in to my old time.

Do not use the app if you are trying to get a better time!
 
Thanks for the replies. Sorry to hear I'm not the only one who lost a reservation.

I emailed Disney to suggest that the App be consistent with the Website. I am not a computer programmer but it seems possible. It is hard enough to follow all the rules they have for booking reservations let alone having two different sets. I'll post an update on the response but I suspect nothing will change.

Yea good luck with that one, Disney's knows theres a problem and the app has been updated twice in the last few months. I may decompile it and take a look myself
 
I found this out the hard way too. :sad1: I canceled a via Napoli reservation to get an earlier time but it didn't hold the old one and by the I got it canceled the old one was gone. Now I can't find another Via Napoli for that evening at all.
 
This happened to me too when trying to coordinate a change.
I've had more things come up available on the website than the app too.
 
good to know for future, but unfortunate for you. that sucks! hope this gets resolved for you!
 
Wow, thank you so much for the heads up on that. It's unfortunate that the option is open on the app if it's not functioning properly.

Sorry that happened to you - thanks (again) for the warning! Hopefully, they can get you back in your old time.

It's definitely helpful to us newbies to see these reminders periodically. I've been on here since January, maybe?, and haven't seen mention of this particular situation. Not that it hasn't necessarily been posted anywhere, I just didn't come across it. :rolleyes1
 
I have read this has happened to several people over the past few months so about 2 months ago I created a separate Disney account to use when something like this happens. OP I hope you get your reservation back

Same here! I had a similar problem a week or two ago, posted it somwhere. Lost my original reservation on MDE. I called and spoke to someone and a supervisor and didn't get anywhere. I emailed guest relations and received a phone call the next day, giving me back my original reservation (even though it was no longer available). I'm happy how it ended for me, but they really need to warn people, this is a known problem.
 
Don't ever use the app to change an ADR. Nothing but trouble and I love the app for everything else.
 
Update - Thankfully Disney gave me my original time back (9:10 a.m.). Obviously happy they did. Thanks for all the comments. I posted a warning on the reviews of the App. I won't hold my breath but hopefully they fix the issue eventually.
