My mom had people visiting her and they were going to spend some time at Disney World. I asked her later how their visit was and she said "they only stayed a day and a half at Disney." When I asked why she said "because there was too much to see!" Now I've heard everything!!! :rotfl2:

WDW sure can be overwhelming. I would imagine it intimidates a lot of people.

Just funny to hear it said that way.

When I talk with alot of people who have never visited WDW, they think that it is only the MK....with a bunch of characters when in fact it's so much more than that.

The WDW experience can be overwhelming if someone does not know what to expect. I know many people who don't bother searching for information or reading guide books. To them WDW sounds simple until they ACTUALLY get there and see it with their own eyes.

I'd like to see more countries at Epcot. ::yes::

Some people's idea of a vacation is just lounging around and that o.k. if they enjoy the rest and relaxation.

My idea of vacation is touring and soaking in a different environment. If I'm spending money to vacation I want value for my money otherwise I can stay home. :flower:

When one of my aunts asked me how long we were going to be gone when we go she nearly fell over when I told her a week. She can't imagine finding that much to do there. :hyper:

my mother hasnt been there since it was just MK and Epcot...the first year they ran the land/sea package (before they had their own boat)

so she is taking my nephew this summer....first it was 4 nights, now its 6 nights....I told her to start preparing and she blew me off

so I get an email this week "Oh my god, Im so confused...there is SOOOOO much".....looks like Ill be giving alot of advise when she is here this weekend :rotfl2:

I intentionally made our family's 1st Disney trip be to Disneyland, specifically because there was LESS to see and do. DH is the kid of guiy where "if it can be done it MUST be done" so we don't get a lot of rest on vacations! At Disneyland we spent four full days in the parks (not very crowded) and I could have spent more time. Of course, on the way home we ran into a family who was coming home early because they got bored.

We will have 9 full days on our upcoming trip to the World. I'm building in breaks but I fear that after a while DH will catch on and make us stay in the parks all day every day. (I will need to remind him how much we are paying to stay at a deluxe resort!!!)

Wow... BORED!!!!!

I've gone every year for about the past 12 years and I used to get one of my friends to go with me during the first 4 of those 12 and he got bored with it!)

meanwhile, these people that get bored are the same ones that go to the beach and just s it out on it all day long.

I really think they should screen these folks at the gate and deny them entry. Send them to Miami so they can stop plugging up the ride lines. :) :)

My sister & her family went with us in October 2004, and she cannot comprehend why we are going back in December....she said "we saw everything". HA HA HA HA HA

We were basically rained out 2 days of our trip & really only went to MK for MNSSHP & that was packed. She just doesn't understand.....

We constantly get the quote: You aren't going to (sea world, mgm, busch gardens, gatorland) while your there? You can't possibly find enought to do JUST at Disney for 9 days can you? What do you mean you don't get a car? How do you find any place to eat?

Some of those are from people who have been there, and some not. I'm just glad everyone doesn't love it as much as we do, or the parks would be WAY TOO crowded.

We have some friends that decided to go just because they had heard us say hom much we love WDW, and the fact that we go every year (and have even considered moving to FL just to be able to go more often). When they came home from their trip, they were really disappointed and said that they would never go back. They said that they were "Bored out of our mind." Just like someone mentioned before, they ARE the type that like to go to the beach and just lay in the sun for 12 hours a day! Talk about boring!

Not only is there so much to see, in terms of attractions and shows, but there are so many places to just "be". You know, just sitting and soaking the atmosphere in.

Before the Land Pavilion changed (I can't speak for "after" since it isnt ready yet), i was able to spend hours in the food court near that nice fountain and just sit there enjoying myself listening the sounds, enjoying the sights...and being repeatedly drawn in by the smells of the dessert part :mickeybar

And there are so many places in Disneyworld that are like taht, where you can just sit and take it all in. So when you consider that in addition to all the great rides and attractions, there is almost limitless time you can spend there if you really enjoy it :)

My nightmare...

I invited my parents, we've not seen each other in almost 3 years. They have 2 old PHP tickets, and they say they wont need anymore - there just isnt that much to do :rotfl: Apparently my brother and his kids went with my parents for 3 days and were BORED!!

So Travel Channel had those 3 shows, I'd call mom, and say "watch now" one show back to back, I called her back "are you still watching, the imagineer show is on, please???!!" The next day the Dis families were on, "MOM< you gotta watch, you'll see some resorts, and fun stuff"

Mom now wants to stay at AKL (before they were convinced they could get a hotel off site for $30!) ("um, ok, but I"m bookin us at POFQ - lol, and i sent them an 11 page word document, MNSSHP, Food and Wine, Fantasmic, Ohana etc)

Now my mom is sucked in, and we have close to 200 days left!! :rotfl2:

We are that type too!!!! A Do- nothing vacations, alternating by our Disney fix. We do HH, every year, and for that trip, we lay on the beach, and do nothing (except Bloody Marys, and pina coladas :drinking1 ). Def. a great vacation, just different.

We go to disney often, (5 times in 9 years). We go full force for our WDW trips. This year I expect it to be a little more laid back, since we have been, the kids are older, and we all realize that we WILL be back.

:rotfl: Well said!

We often get the blank stares and strange looks when we day we are going to Disney...for a week. They talk about Orlando and other parks and I say no we are just doing Disney not Orlando or the rest of Florida just Disney.

Some people just don't get it but I'm glad I found a group that does. Look I only have 34 days left as of today. It wouldn'y have gone by so fast (and trust me it's been slow) if I didn't have my DIS buddies to hang out with. :goodvibes

The best deal I ever got, was shortly after 9/11, WDW had a "bounce back deal" that they hung on our doorknob halfway through our week. It was my first trip as an adult with my own family and I was in full panic that we wouldn't see everything, and was racing the family around. When we got that:
"Mirror, mirror on the door
We'd like to see you come back more..."
I immediately called and booked a pre-Christmas week, and then relaxed more for the rest of our week by being able to say: If we miss it this time, we see it next time. Now, my daughter is 5 and she is going for her fourth trip!

I have never found anyone else who got on of those offers on the doorknob, but it was a great deal. I kept the little mirror thing in my scrapbook. You had to re-book before you checked out, come back within a year, and you got a 45% discount.

I have a cousin that thinks they did everything at WDW in 3 late evenings while there for her husband's softball tournament. She can't imagine going for a week, much less ever returning. However they will go to Biloxi 6 times a yr to gamble. Whenever she says something like "you're going to Disney again" (which we'veo nly been 2 times and to Universal 3 but to her they are all the same) I'll say "and you're going to gamble again".

I am researching our first trip and do realise how big WDW is. Just reading this board with all the good tips makes me very anxious. I'm afraid that I may ruin it by taking all this information, as a newbie, and getting to stressed out by trying to get everything right ei.. fastpass,PS, where to eat!!!!!! :earseek: I even told my DH that I thought I made a mistake when I convinced him that WDW would be fun!!! OH well!! we'll make the best of it .

What planet are these people from? We have been from 4 days to 7 days and my age has been from 9 to 31 and I have wanted to cry everytime I left WDW cause I didn't get to do 1/3 of what I wanted to do. How can you get bored at WDW?
