There have been several threads in the past where a parent talked about their child taking an interest in photography and they posted some photos. Well I recently gave my 15 yr old my old XTi as well as a few lenses and some other "stuff".

She surprised me - really surprised me and I was going to give her a gallery on my smugmug but decided to go ahead and get her an account of her own.

With her permission to post these - here are a few of my favorites that she has taken recently. And - these were not taken on any of the auto modes.

1 is hilarious. 4 is my favorite. I don't have any kids, but my Golden Retriever Mickey caught a rabbit in the back yard the other day and tried to give it to me like a gift...that was a proud Mommy moment, right?? :lmao:

Nice job! :thumbsup2
I recently gave my 19 y.o. DD my D50 and some lenses but with being in college and all she hasn't had much time to use it. Her and her friends did some 'photo shoots' with the D50 and studio lights over the summer- they were very creative- she has all the shots on her Macbook so I can't share.

Oh WOW! These are FABULOUS! She's got her Mom's eye, that's for sure.
I'm thinking about giving my DD my Canon S2 IS if she wants to learn it.

Jen your daughter took some fabulous pictures!!!

Time for my proud mom moment

I gave my son all my Pentax 35mm film gear when he went to college .. he majored in graphic design and multimedia at UARTS in Philadelphia. His senior year he came home with a D50 and got me hooked on photography again. Here are some of his shots (posted with his permission) he took and one of his ventures into HDR:

In August '07 he packed his camera, laptop and gear and went cross country alone on his motorcycle and took 8 weeks to do it. When he got home he said was ready to go do it all over again.

How he packed for an 8 week solo trip xcountry

Super photos - I really love what he did with the second horse image.

Jen,

Tell Emily that she did a GREAT job on those! They are all excellent photos. I am sitting somewhere off the coast of Mexico now so I don't have any to share from my DD but I will probably have some when we leave WDW in a week.

Tell Em to keep up the good work.

Hey Andy! I hope you and your family are having a wonderful time! I have been thinking about ya. Give E a hug for me. Can't wait to see any photos she may come up with.

Well, I'm impressed!!!:thumbsup2

Looks like the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree!:)

We just gave DD 8 her first digital camera, a CoolPix L18...something small, but yet digital. She has a creative mind and spirit, so we just never will know untill it's time to download her pics. Great pic Jenn, btw.

Jen those pics are great. I love the guitar one. AWESOME JOB by her!

spinetnglr, he did some real nice work there. I wish I could take 8 weeks and tour the country at my leisure.

My oldest isn't quite old enough for me to hand over my D50. Maybe in a few years.

Those are pretty amazing shots...

I see talent runs in your family.;)

I don't have kids but I am proud that a pic I took of my Kitten Chewie was chosen for a calendar (cuteoverload.com calendar) for 2009...He's a calendar cat...

I wish I could have gone with him. He camped most of the way and got a hotel room every few nights to shower and get a good nights sleep. He had just been laid off from a job, had a nice nest egg, was 26 at the time and figured he better do it then because the chance may not happen again for a long time. I was totally jealous he was able to take the 8 weeks to do it. Being a business owner its hard enough for me to get away for one week let alone 8. Guess that will have to wait for retirement

That first shot is really, really good. Really draws the viewer in and makes them wonder what the argument is about and why the girl in the middle is staying out of it.

Jen - those shots are wonderful. I'd say photography skills run in the family! I really like the guitar shot.
